  • Vivekananda Youth Leadership Convention 2014 was organized by Vivekananda Samiti, IIT Kanpur from Jan.10-13, 2014.
    With the focus on leadership, social entrepreneurship, and promotion of Indian culture and integrity, the Convention aimed to make our youth believe in their inherent potential. The Convention was inaugurated by Param Veer Chakra Bana Singh, Jalpurush Sri Rajendra Singh, Swami Tejomayanandaji and Dean R&D Prof. A K Chaturvedi.
    About Jal Purush Rajendra Singh:
    Rajendra Singh, regarded as the "Waterman of India", is a prominent water conservationist from Alwar district, in Rajasthan. He won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 2001 for his pioneering work in community-based efforts in water harvesting and water management. He runs an NGO called Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS), which was founded in 1975. Starting with a single village in 1985, TBS has brought water back to over 1,000 villages and revived five rivers in Rajasthan by building over 8,600 johads and other water conservation structures to collect rainwater for the dry seasons. In 2008, The Guardian named him amongst its list of "50 people who could save the planet".
