Johnny is a wimp, Greasers rules
Jocks win against Greasers because no Greaser got Anti Grapple and Jocks are basically just Grapplers and Strikers and both do a lot of damage. None of the damage the Jocks do gets negated besides blocking by the Greasers and that is the problem. The most important things for fighting between characters in Bully are Health Pool and Anti Grapple. After that you have Moves (how powerful are their moves) and Offense / Defense Balance (how often does a character attack and how often does he block). This is why Russel, Derby and Bif are the strongest characters on Campus - because they have Anti Grapple, a large Health Pool, Powerful Moves and a Good Balance. Johnny follows close behind because he has some of the strongest moves but can't quite keep up because of Grapples.
The Jocks' Knee to the Groin and the two Wrestling Moves they have paired with their extremely aggressive Strikers and bigger Health Pools make them mechanically superior to most other gangs but basically no challenge for Jimmy. Also the Jocks defense sucks balls especially Damon who never blocks and Ted is the second weakest boss in the game. The Jocks also got no anti grapple which is why Hal and Norton wreak havoc amongst them and why they are not as big of a threat for Jimmy as Preps or Greasers. Jimmy is weaker against Strikes (because of Unblockable Hits and Guard Breaks) and stronger against Grabs which is why Bif, Derby and Russel are a problem - Russel's hooks and kicks really hit hard same as Bif's and Derby's combos paired with their huge Health Pool, Anti Grapple and Hit / Block Balance, Jimmy has to really give it all if he doesn't use weapons.
You can always Sprint and use Running Takedown on a Jock to get some room to breathe, to do area damage and additionaly kick someone in the groin to do huge damage. This negates the swarming of the Jocks which is their biggest strength besides Health Pool because Jimmy basically invented Anti Grapple. It's hilariously even better to wait with the Grapple Reversal until the animation is further ahead after the initial Grab to do extra damage like kicking someone in the face or grab their leg and make them fall. Very strong against all characters with strong Grapples just wait until they start with the Bear Hug or the Piledriver and other Moves instead of doing an instant Reversal as soon as they grab you.
If Johnny, Hal and Norton had Anti Grapple like Derby and Bif they'd beat the Jocks. Derby and Bif always carry hard because of that plus a big health pool plus devastating combos. The Preps should be less of a challenge than the Greasers so they should not have two but three anti grapple members because we have one for Bullies (Russel), two for the Preps (Derby and Bif) and we would have three for the Greasers (Johhny, Hal and Norton). If it's too strong that their leader and both of their Grapplers have Anti Grapple take Peanut instead of Hal. He is very weak for being Second in Command so why not give it to him? Not sure if that would change too much though if he doesn't have his Health Pool or Balance increased.
This is also why Preps beat Jocks, Greasers beat Preps and Jocks beat Greasers. The Synergies and Counter Synergies between them. If the Jocks can't grapple the strongest Members they have no way of eating through their Health Pools and get schooled after they defeated the weaker members. If the Greasers and especially Johnny get grappled all the time, their heavy and unblockable kicks count for nothing same if Hal and Norton can't grapple. The only reason the Greasers win against the Preps is because besides Bif and Derby they all are glass cannons that do a lot of damage and have no Health and no compareable Grapples.
Russel beats Bif 100% of the time when he can grapple and if not it's always close and depends on how many combos Bif got in because Russel has more Health. Bif and Derby have around a 50/50 chance to win if they fight depending on Strike / Block Balance. Bif, Russel and Derby basically destroy everyone - besides Johnny. Russel destroys Johnny because of his grapples but Bif and Derby don't really grapple and their Anti Grapple is useless against Johnny's Haymaker and Axe Kick. He actually fucking mobs the floor with Bif and Derby like no one else - if he uses his Moves frequently. Russel is the only character that has no one he straight up loses against besides Jimmy.
