Vintage Electric Bikes E-Tracker Review - $5k

  • The Vintage Electric Bikes E-Tracker is a beautifully styled single speed electric bike that functions like a moped and can reach ~36 mph with the optional "Race Edition" upgrade or function as street legal at the default 20 mph. Good weight distribution and heat dissipation thanks to a custom made aluminum alloy battery box that's permanently mounted mid-frame, beautiful accessories with multiple color choices. Single speed drivetrain isn't much fun to pedal if you run out of batteries, pedal assist isn't super responsive and brake levers don't have inhibitors, the price can really add up with all of the extras.

Am currently investigating this bike as a possible addition. The lack of gearing and weight should be a problem only for those who are needing this for purposes other than intended. In other words, you would not be buying this to hit the single track in the San Gabriels, nor try and adjust your position for a 90 rpm road cadence. But as an electric moped with a pedal assist, and a bike born and raised in California with hand-fabrication and quality parts (Phil Wood hub), I feel the price matches the workmanship. But still investigating, and thank you for the honest review.

+stan f Strange choice Stan you can get an electric bike with way more performance for less, but if your all about the style good luck to you, other option get yourself an old beaten classic from yesteryear and add a kit.

For what this is, which is really more of a pure electric moped rather than a pedal assist e-bike, and what it costs, the Bolt M1 is probably a better bike for the price.
The bolts a little bigger, but it's faster and has better range, and has the same base msrp while including a lot of things that are expensive upgrades for the E-Tracker. It also handles braking much much better, as the brake lever automatically puts the motor into regen mode. A soft grip on the brake is regen only while a hard brake will do both regen and disc/drum braking.
The aesthetics are wildly different though, so that would be a deciding factor for anyone considering either bike.

Oh most definitely i mean the price is up there and you could buy a car or a brand new dirtbike for that price i just got lucky 3 weeks ago while walking to the liquor store i seen the vintage electric cruz in the drive way of a gradge sale i just thought it was a real cool looking bike and bought it for $150 it wasn't till i got home when i got a chance to really check out what i got while googling the kinda charger i need for it i realized i struck gold all original parts evwn came with the bell rack and lock plus it says elimited edition 8 of 20 but yea bikes about 90 pounds and you can tell its real sturdy. When you ride it. Im actually on here now trying to figure out the proper charger i need so i can hopfully buy one off amazon so i dont have to send $300 bucks on a new one. Once i clean it up and make sure it runs properly i may consider selling or trading it dont really want to,i enjoy it alot but i could really use and car if you can find a used one for sell or willing to pay to get one of the bad ass newer models its totally worth it specially if you have someone to rjde with or even going on a ride by your self listen to some music and enjoy cruising around lol

I just bought a Prodeco Rebel fat tire electric bike, which is great, but I am going to get one of these too, I like the ascetic a lot.

air enough , you should look at Zero electric motorcycles depending on your range requirements of course.

    • @valhala56
      @valhala56 Před 8 lety

+Master Blaster You know I put diy solar panels on my house, I built my first electric bike, and then bought the Rebel for $2500. Ok electric bike but it is no chick magnet. They have brand new Harley's for $6500. The Zero's are at least twice that without the cache of a Harley. Electric has done little for me other then cost me a lot money and stress.
In fact I rode the Rebel in the Snow because they said it was a fat tire snow bike, All I succeded in doing is freeze my ass off and fall off on ice. I guess you could say the novelty of electric bikes has worn off on me. I can make you a good deal on the Rebel Fat tire electric bike with a car carrier if you are in my area near Lousiville Ky.

Great review and congratulations to an, in excess of 300 'kind of' word count. I often wonder where this 'kind of', 'sort of' and 'like' habit has creeped into our Australian language and I suspect that it comes from your part of the world.

Price is steep. More of a luxury/leisure purchase than for everyday utility. Gorgeous looking bike though. I love the twin crown forks. Really makes it look like an early vintage motorcycle. I just ordered myself a cheap Chinese bike similar cruiser style to this and looks to have the same motor.

5000 for the bike with no speed or batt. indicator And pay 500 to 600 for different color and almost 300 for rack and 120 for fuse that is a fucken rip. i build my pedicab for under 3000

This type of frame with the Bike e bike motor and hydraulic brakes. Would rock!
Get rid of the rear hub motor go to the
bike e bike Motor and battery system.
The lightweight squeaking mechanical brakes would suck on this machine.

too fast and for a bike that doesn't have display ,maximum speed for an e bike here is 45 kph and you would actually need a permit to drive vehicles over that speed ( maximum power is about 1000 watts too)

    • @LurkingCrassZero

its a nice bike for sure. but its not worth the 5 k. if the added signals made a quick release for the battery, throw the bags in, add motor inhibitors to the brakes. and include the rear rack. this is the kind of bike that gets people ticketed by the cops.
