I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level. - Sport
I have to admit I never paid attention to that, so I appreciate your tip. The older I get, the more I dislike rigging plastics. I can't get them rigged correctly/straight. One reason I power fish more. Thanks for the lesson.
I had trouble with that until I figured out- I couldn't see, got some glasses and it really helped. Usually, plastic baits have a mold line or there's a line through the ribs along the back, a hook slot, something you can use to line them up- but you have to be able to see clearly. Say you're rigging a worm on an ewg hook- like the first one he showed with the shank that's in line with the hook point- go through the end of the worm and try to center the hook point- now come out on the mold line, and when you go to put the point back through- go through the mold line again. If it's a creature there may not be a mold line you can use- but they usually have lines to help you get it right- one down the center of the belly, one down the center of the back. If there isn't a line- imagine one or draw one in with as Spike-it marker. It took me about 2-3 months but you eventually get where you can rig them in the dark and get them right- swim baits are probably the hardest- to me. Some of them can be really tricky at times.
Right on
This helps me now understand the Ozark Rig rigging much better. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for that tip Never thought about that I have a Ozark hook tied on every time I go fishing seance they been out going two make my life easier
You bet
Matt hi buddy . Got my hands on the Ozark"s through TW . Fished with them this last weekend . Just awsome rig . Amazed at how well it came through the timber , rocks 👍 . Love the Nishine hooks 🪝
Glad to hear it!
Great tip and congrats on 57k in subs..channel has grown a lot since I first started watching.... you will be at 100000 before you know it.
I appreciate that!
Thanks Matthew

Thanks for the channel support
Solid tip. I am looking forward to trying out the Ozark with that perpendicular hook eye rigging. Looking forward to those lighter / finesse wire options with Core Tackle as well. Thanks Matt!
Right on!
Good stuff. I plan to use an Ozark rig in my next tourney in 10 days.
Good luck!
Ok, you got me on that one…great tip and I can see where that would lay much straighter and save some baits as well!!!
You bet!
That’s something I did not know thanks Matt
You bet
How would you do it on a straight shank? Like a flipping hook.
Then you thread through the nose
Thanks this was good advice. Something new to add to my arsenal. Could even use it for drop shot to keep from getting as much grass on it
yep!
Just got some Ozark Rigs and some Tush. Putting them to the test now.
awesome!
Great tip Matt! Tried using the usual method with the Ozark and it was tough to get the plastic over the weight portion of the hook without the plastic wanting to tear/split. Especially with the larger 3/16 oz. Wetting the weighted portion helped but the method shown in this video makes much more sense. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thanks Matt this is a really good idea. I will be trying that. And I really appreciate that you actually try to help us out on different baits and techniques and your not pushing any one brand because it's what you use like so many others. I believe you are being really honest with all of us. Thanks again
Happy to help!
Thanks for that awesome tip!! Never seen or heard of that rigging method but will start to use it!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!

I wish i knew how
Thanks for sharing Matt
You bet!
Good tip Matt. Thanks ✌️
No problem 👍
The problem I have on the ozark rig is it rips out because you make bigger hole when you go over the hook eye. Other than that hook up is really good.
Sorry to hear that
Thanks Matt. Really great information!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video as always, that is why you're a Pro ,it's called TALENT !!!!!!

Thanks! 👍
Great demonstration and this is definitely a better way to rig a worm on this style of hook. This does help out with the rigging of the ozark rig which I have both sizes in my box!! Thanks Matt!!
Awesome!
Thank You always like to be reminded on rigging plastic baits.

Ozark and creature Hawg are a perfect pairing
Great tip

Thanks for the detailed video. I got my Ozark rigs the other day and wondered if I was doing it right.
Glad I could help
Thanks for this tip. I'm about to order my 1st batch of Ozark rigs for my upcoming kayak fishing season. In the Ozarks no less.
Good luck!
Thanks 😊
Welcome 😊
Thank you for this video! Seeing you rig the ozark rig has now helped me tie it on with confidence. I am super excited to get out and put some work in with it this weekend. should be putting in another order soon!
The ozark rig is so good!
Got a chance to toss it this weekend, unfortunately they were on moving baits in my neck of the woods here in Georgia just south of Atlanta. I can promise you it will stay tied on and in the rotation. Keep up the great work on and off the water.@@MattStefanFishing
Excellent update on rigging the Ozark rig. Makes my rigging easier.
Tungsten version will be dynamite.
Thanks!
Matt hi buddy
Just checking if you intending to add some more different weights , hook sizes to your Ozark rig's . Threw couple different plastics on in the pool earlier . Looked so good I almost jumped in and took a bite myself 🤣🤣 . Wow awsome 👌. Looking forward to using them way more often going forward .
Yep we have 5/0 , 3/0 and 2/0 hook sizes coming!
@@MattStefanFishing morning . Awsome buddy 👍
@MattStefanFishing Matt hi buddy . Do you have any time estimate for the 5/0 to be available on TW ? . Have couple guys in Zimbabwe wanting to grab some for their bigger baits they fish that side .
Thanks Rod 😁
thanks
Welcome
Love the Ozark rig! Bought several. Plans on size 2 available?
Yep we got more sizes coming
I just have one question when you rig the nashine hook in that fashion does the way you are suppose to tie it to your line with a snell knot . Does it interfere with the rigging of the worm?
ill run the tag end through the worm hole as well and then tie my weight on. it locks the worm in place great!
What knot would you recommend tying the Ozark Rig on with? Snell Knot?
I use a Miller knot myself
With the Ozark rig Im a little confused how you can flip the bait over the line tie unless you have to tie the hook on after you rig it up
No just rig it like i did and no retying necessary
Are you guys working on a heavier option for the Ozark?
coming out soon
What brand was that small worm ? Looks nice * Thanks matt
Maxscent hit worm
🍺Thanks Matt. Go fund me up to 120K👍.
Awesome!
Matt is Core Tackle going to be available in Canada
We have some retailers in Canada like bass city and fishing world
@@MattStefanFishing Thank you will check them out
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
On Ozark rig ,why dont you just stick the eye thur the bait and not pull weight thur the hole.
You’d have to cut your line every time you replaced your plastic. You can do that the first time you rig it before you tie it on. If you used a snap you could do it like your saying and not have to cut your line. Just unhook the snap and rig it like you say and reattach it to the snap.
You definitely can but it requires retying your knot
Anybody else wondering how the hell you use that drop shot hook? The eye is not where its supposed to be
you tie a snell knot on it and it works great!
Never thought to check to make sure it’s done this way… ugh!
Give it a try
@@MattStefanFishing I absolutely will!!!
