Right? What’s the difference between running someone down in a car or some other dangerous weapon? A knife used to cut onions or rope isn’t considered a dangerous weapon until they come at you. The cops just last week shot a lady attempting to push a cop out of her way. If it’s good enough for them then it should be good enough for us.

Seriously, laws need to be changed ASAP with road ragers. I'd argue they need to permanently loose their license and serve jail time. In Germany and some other EU countries you will get your license revoked if you are found to be/ caught road raging.
The first Driver needs to file a NHTSA complaint about his air bags not deploying. This is the only way to find out what happened.
Airbag deployment is dependent on the speed of collision, and many other factors. They are literal bombs used to inflate fabric bags, whether they'll deploy or not is dependent on the factors, since they can seriously injure or kill you.

There’s no way the impact was not severe enough to trigger them. One of NCAP and IIHS safety criteria is the deployment of the side airbags to stop your head from striking front of the vehicle that t-bones you.
And no, if you’re seated correctly, an airbag will not kill you.
There’s also a test in frontal crashes where they measure the G forces on your neck, side airbags usually deploy in these tests too. They help to stop the head striking the B pillar when you’re thrown back in your seat, as well as helping to keep your head in a position where when thrown back the headrest can do it’s job and support the neck and head. Although the latter is less of an issue these days as manufacturers have gotten better at controlling movement of bodies without the sideair bags essentially guiding the head back.
Probably the algorithm of the ACU determined that the airbag needs not inflate, based on the data it receives from the sensors.
Usually for side impacts, the loading on the vehicle structure is a more determinant factor for SAB, CAB, FSAB triggering. In this case, it looks more similar to a door intrusion test condition of the FMVSS.
In any case, it's always good to hear someone surviving any accident.

Sidebags do only deploy if the impact is on an angle from 90° sideway to 60° to the front
And as we can see in the first 2 seconds, the driver did steer to the right, so the T-boning car comes from behind the 90! angle line.
And in this Case NHTS say: No sidebags deployment!
Erics incident: it was the other drivers stupidity that triggered the road rage... he seemingly believed that you should just evaporate from existance whenever he needs to do a stupid manouver like trying to merge INTO you when youre clearly still there
Personally, I would've gotten out and decked the guy as hard as humanly possible, and just left him lying in the street.

3:24 - My guess is that the Honda driver was already irritated from something else, and when he needed to change lanes, he got so annoyed that the two Tesla's wouldn't move out of his way (Completely ignoring the fact that he could just slow down and merge behind like a sane person).
PS: This is no way to excuse his immature behavior. Just a guess as to what set him off.
Right, most often when people fly off the handle, it's been building up. Maybe he also had a bad day at work. Not condoning it at all, but a likely explanation for such a wild incident.
That was my take as well. I have inadvertently made a couple people made without me being able to notice it. One was because there's a few lights where I take off on purpose and merge 1/4 mile later, a large truck or SUV got mad about it and tailgated me for the next 1.5 miles. By the way I merged into that lane well over 1/8 mile ahead of the vehicle...Some people just find reasons to be mad!

What would they give him a ticket for? Didn't look like he did anything wrong. IT looked like those "cops" were just trying to be a**holes to some random motorist. Also, real cops would not do that as it is rude, illegal, and inappropriate.
@@protoborgAll you saw was the tail end of the situation, dude could have been speeding or anything. It probably wasn't worth pulling him over, so the cops just gave him a more convenient punishment.

@@dbradley65 That is highly likely and does happen all the time. If a more urgent call comes in, such as officers needing support, they'll leave in the middle of a standard traffic stop.

The first video where the side airbags didn't deploy needs to contact the NTSB and make a report. If they get enough reports of the same problem it could result in a recall and that's why Tesla didn't want to follow up on it
That was what I was thinking, too. I don't want to jump to any conclusions without proper evidence, though.
I had got rear ended pretty bad in a model 3 and it braked to take the damage. air bags did not deploy since the hit was from behind. last week, video air bags deployed before the accident was about to happen.. Sorry something wrong with s tesla submit s NTSB. not alll ICE ars perfect either

2:00 hit and run should be a felony with a five year no-plea minimum plus restitution. With no insurance, double.
In Canada, a hit-and-run is assumed to be a DUI unless you have another good reason to run (because it’s the most likely reason to run). Ironically, if you’re wanted on a warrant, your hit-and-run is likely to garner a less severe punishment. (Then again, you probably have bigger things to worry about).
Hit and run where I’m at is a felony if someone is injured. Also restitution is a mandatory thing for most crimes.
The motorcycle cops were probably going to pull him over, but most likely got a call out for something else right as driver pulled over. They waved him off and took the freeway towards the new call. 9:29
7:25 What I learned the hard way about not following down a hit and run is that they will lie and say it wasn't them driving. The police will immediately drop any investigation. You get screwed twice.
Sounds like a stupid loophole. Where I live the owner of the car will get the blame if it cant be proved another person was behind the wheel.
In America it depends on which stare you live in. In some states there are laws stating that the owner must provide the identity of the person driving your vehicle at the time. In other states you are not required to identify term.

This... I had a similar incident in Pittsburgh. I had the plate # of the car who hit me and the Pittsburgh police said they would not pursue it since they could not confirm who was driving.
@@jasons7818 In Australia, the registered owner gets fined unless they name the person who was driving at the time. They get the fine. On the back of the find is a status declaration for them to fill in with the driver;s details. My car got a ticket from a speed camera when I lent it to a workmate to take his girlfriend away for a weekend. I filled in the stat dec and got the fine transferred to him and he lost points on his licence.
That was almost 30 years ago, and the last time I will ever lend my car to anyone.
Tesla NOT investigating what happened with the first car because the guy wouldn't tow the car on his own dollar to a Tesla shop, is madness. I hope the government get wind and investigate.

Only thing I can think of is he didn't like the fact that Eric wasn't letting him go in front despite using his turn signal so he must have got insulted like who do you think you are because you drive a Tesla. What a baby 😂😂

I've noticed a lot more cars pulling up alongside and putting on their signal, but thre's no way to see most signals from the side, especially when they start pacing you. Like, seriously dude, speed up and cut me off or slow down and slide in behind I don't know what you want.

1st clip: I work on airbag systems all the time and Teslas are some of the most intelligent. While a Honda or Kias would have gone off the Tesla recognized exactly what was about to happen and knew it would hurt the driver more by deploying the bags. Its by design. Change angles a few degrees or add 5mph to it and the car would have deployed them. 30 years in the industry, 15 years owning a shop, master ASE. So take it as you wish.
Idk how some people can keep their cool. Watching these make me want to play bumper cars. Hence why I’m such a great passenger princess 😂

Walking a dog with a Honda is the most US car-centric thing
It's also definitely illegal. Either you keep watching the animal, which constitutes as distracted driving, or you don't, which constitutes as animal cruelty through negligent endangerment. It likely even constitutes as both at the same time, given the nature of the act. It is also immoral, since just the mere attempt of the act puts the animal at an increased risk of getting severely injured or killed, either through contact with the vehicle itself (e.g. sharp edges/corners, rotating tires) or by risk of stumbling/falling (e.g. potholes, obstacles), not to mention the risk of collisions (e.g. objects/obstacles, vehicles, humans, other animals). There's laziness, and then there's criminal levels of stupidity.
Oh it's worse. In my hometown a woman walked her dog by driving her car on to our highschool's track and doing laps with the dog on a leash outside the car. A track is the oval shaped running track that surrounds the football/soccer pitch.

Yep but yet a lot of Americans will say "they have some of the most active people" but yet I've seen so so so many lazy people, the most lazy I've seen is some guy live acrossed the street from a smith's (Krogers for those of you back east) he only had to walk maybe 300 feet all together 80 to the light acrossed it then 220 feet back to the entrance. Nope he got in his car to drive over and get a half a gallon of milk and went straight back home.
@@sebastiantschatordaihi hi this is the daughter of the owner of the dog, when I’m not out and having to walk to the dog my mom has to, since she’s 80 and can’t walk she has to walk our dog around outside the car. We have done with for a year now and he’s learned his way around the road and knows how to keep save and knows not to get to near the car, it isn’t abuse we are just walking him and since when I’m out and my mom cant walk she has to walk him in the car. It also isn’t illegal the police have seen us many times and have stopped by to ask what she is doing, all we do is walk him, he’s 100 pound german shepherd that needs exercise.

@@RMPANDA964 incorrect if someone is trying to get in your car or showing aggression to the point where in doubt that your life could be in jeopardy. You have the right to bare arms. I learned this in my self defense course. Especially if they’re pulling your door handle in aggression. Also, it’s always good to have insurance such as the USCCA and a Tesla with cameras as proof. :)

I have encountered many drivers just like the Honda driver. They think that trying to force their way into your lane will scare you enough to brake and leave a space for them. Then when it doesn't work, they get mad at you. A jerk once tried this while my husband was following me. He lunged towards me three times. I had children in the car and it did not turn out well for him.

That was an awesome meteor. I’ve seen two second ones on the same night but I’ve never seen one that clear or bright. Must’ve been close.
They're very rare. I've seen a bunch in the early morning. 5 am and later while driving to work. That's a big area, easy to get one. To get one on the daytime side of earth it has to be just right and big enough to see it.

#12: Absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior regardless if the criminal is going through rough times. There are plenty of legal things people can do to provide for their families. I can see plenty of evidence in the clip for the police to find this guy and out him away before he teaches his child more antisocial behavior.

If you want to see if a psycho like that Honda driver is next to you then you can adjust your mirrors outward so that there is no real blind spot (just search the web or here on YT to see how), but that involves not seeing the edge of your own car and for some reason most people don't like that or have never been taught, I'd say 90% of drivers have their mirrors too far inward.
Doubt mirror adjustment will do any difference, if the Tesla driver isn't looking left, there's no way they will see flashing turn signals when an old model car(no mirror or fender lights) is right next to you. This Honda also had a lame halogen style light 🤦🏽♂
That’s how my mirrors are. My wife on the other hand like for the back and side of the car to take up 3/4 of her mirror.
Not seeing the side of the car makes my husband nervous. I asked him if he was afraid a door would fall off and the only way he could possibly know is by seeing it do so in the mirror. I got this: 🤔🤨😑
@@NancyD2 But once you see how a car passing you goes from the rear view mirror, then seamlessly appears in the side view mirror and then right next to you, easy to see the whole time, can help convince people how good it is to adjust them properly.
@@beigefox6579 But it will absolutely make a difference if you do adjust your side mirrors properly and you don't intentionally ignore them. Most people create a blind spot by having them adjusted too far inward where you see the side of your own car and that just creates overlap with your rear view mirror and creates the traditional blind spot.

It was the Honda driver's lucky day. The officers got another, more important call so they let him go.

EVs have different behavior from a combustion car, given their instant acceleration and non detrimental deceleration. EVs often don’t “coast” like ICE cars. This throws some drivers off, and it can throw normally aggressive drivers over the edge. Some people have very fragile egos especially on the road, and they aren’t very educated on the capabilities of modern cars. They get butthurt over losing a few seconds. Just something to keep in mind.

Unlikely. A proper airbag will only be deployed under very specific circumstances.
1:03 Why the airbags din't deploy could be because of the angle he was hit in. His car was still moving forwards in a circle motion towards his left side after the hit, so his body would be pressed towards the center of the car (his right). If the side airbags went off they would at best do nothing or hinder him in getting out fast and at worst if the door was to damage send shrapnel into the car towards him.

You're right - airbags are very powerful devices, and in the wrong circumstances, can cause death or serious injuries instead of preventing them. They are only designed to go off in specific circumstances, where the airbag sensors detect that the people in the car are being thrown towards a specific part of the car (steering wheel, dashboard, door, B-pillar, etc) that an airbag can protect them from - only then are those airbags deployed. The fact that the side airbags didn't deploy, yet the driver wasn't seriously injured proves that the airbags intentionally weren't deployed, as they weren't needed.

This is an airbag deploy failure, and it's certainly not uncommon for Takata airbags to fail, they've already recalled Model X's in the past for airbag deploy failures. If an airbag fails, it's a very big deal.

If you get impacted from the right and sit in the passenger seat, the left airbag should deploy to save your head from going through the left side window. No head is going towards the right side window here, so why deploy it ?

If you’re ever wondering why a certain airbag didn’t go off but nobody was hurt the reason is that the car knew it shouldn’t deploy that airbag. Cars are smart, especially when it comes to crashes. You don’t want an airbag to deploy that doesn’t need to deploy, they do more harm than good at that point.

My understanding is that airbags deploy after a crash triggers the sensors inside of the door. I’ve seen them deploy for much less.

#10 - My theory is that Eric was targeted for something that happened even before all of the footage he sent in. The Honda driver obviously caught up to Eric after their initial encounter.
#4 - The CHP bike officers were in the middle of pulling over the Honda and making it move to a part of the highway that had a wider shoulder, when they probably received a call for emergency service, which takes precedent over giving someone a ticket for a minor infraction. It happens.

I think Eric’s incident was because the Honda driver has his turn signal on in Eric’s blind spot so that was supposedly Eric’s fault.

First clip: A lot of people seem to think they airbags should have gone off. Understandable, but airbags don't fail to deploy very often. Also have to consider that Teslas monitor conditions very closely and only deploy if needed (most cars do this to varying degrees). Airbags are quite dangerous and should only be fire if absolutely necessary. Odds are they were deemed not needed in this case.
It looks like the seat belt pretensioner activated, it is possible depending where the crash sensors are located it might not have been targeted. Unless there was a fault
With the first one, he needs to file a report with the national highway safety commission. That looks more like airbags failed to deploy. That can be a huge recall for tesla or a huge ass lawsuit. I would 100% report that
