good video showing both parts of the Nexus 3. Most show only how to set the yellow marker. My problem was with the shifter on the front. The cable did not move all the time. Fixed that with some oil on the part where the iron cable comes in. Then also used a bit of oil in the backend.
I have just bought a new one, replacing a Sturmey Archer 5-speed, but the Shimano came with no instructions. This is a useful video, thank you!

What gear should it be in when you tighten the nut that holds the cable end?
It should be in gear one, where the is little tension on the cable. So when you go up the gears, it pulls the cable to change the gears inside the hub. Also best to screw the tension limiter in most of the way before putting the cable through, to allow you to apply however much tension you need by loosing it making the cable stretch more.

I'm from Europe. We have no problem finding it. For example, I ordered this part online, some hubs I found on the market. Shimano are made in China or Thailand (I do not know for sure), look at their sites.
hi my cable is to long for my bike and the bike shop told me to open the hub on my shimano nexus and cut it to fit any advice on how short i should cut the cable? please help
