I’m upgrading to an Orient Ray II for post-grad from my Casioak 😂 (arguably even an upgrade in terms of capabilities)

Recently purchased the BB36 for my daughter in blue dial and had the case back engraved with “Love you till the end of time DAD. “
That's awesome! I love hearing stories like that. I bet she will treasure it till the end of time too
That's so sweet man!
@@arultherule thank you, she is such a fantastic human being and deserves the world.
Great choice of watch, and lovely inscription - class move sir!
@@alwayspooh1588 Thanks!
Currently a Uni student. My first watch that got me into watches was a vintage gold Citizen 7 automatic which belonged to my late grandfather. Recently I did well in my current year and got a relatively good job and decided to get my first watch a Seiko 5 sports GMT Blueberry. I love it and its constantly on my hand.
just got my first jop
as well and im in university thinkng of getting a seiko 5 series too
*wrist
We share a same story. :) Have a vintage Citizen from my granddad, my dad was wearing it in an army training, and somehow it ended up in my drawer, like nothing special, and after few years I looked them up and I was surprised what it was, then my dad said it was from my grandad and that added more value than the real price of them. It really introduced me into watch stuff.
it's more than a watch, also a history of ur family.@@honzan.1299
I love these student videos. I’m actually 41, but I like them affordable watches 😂
Hey, learning is a lifelong endeavor!
LOL same here I'm 29 and I'm about to purchase my first watch, a tissot gentleman 😂
Same. The more I make in my career the less I want to spend. I know, weird. Point of diminishing return for "stuff" is always on my mind. Love these videos.
Same here !
awesome!@@nicolofurlan2278
I gifted two of my nephews in college, Seiko SRPD95 watches. Under $250, silicone straps, see through case with the 4R movement, it is a such a cool piece. Got them started into their mechanical / automatic watch journey.
I just love that you mentioned the Tudor BB36. I fell in love with it when it released and I was still in high school. Now 5 years later and an engineering degree, I have finally made the purchase. The older version with the ETA movement and the beautiful blue dial. A watch for life.
Trying to plan for my oldest son’s graduation gift in about 18 months. Leaning heavily toward the Conquest in green, his school’s color. Gorgeous watch!
When I passed the Bar I gifted myself with an Orient Bambino. I know it is not even close to an entry-level luxury watch but for a new professional like me I just couldn't justify spending anything close to a $1,000 for a wristwatch especially when something like Orient and a lot of other watch brands offer great quality watches for less money. I get the craftmanship and heritage behind more expensive watches but I guess it's just not my priority especially at a time when the economy is only favorable to an incredibly small percentage of the populatuon.
Shout out to Teddy for the intro, helping ppl keep it “Reasonable”, my first piece above 1k (a Bvlgari) put me in a real bad position for a year after I had lost hours at work. I love the watch until this date but I’m not buying anything I can’t at least put half the purchase price down on. With all these fun brands sub 1K, you’ll never run out of options. Take your time with it 💪🏾
As a student I just got the Bulova Lunar pilot highly recommended if you can get past it’s size. I love how much history is packed into a low price point and looking down at it always makes me smile.
I just completed my master's program and started my first full time job with benefits. To commemorate it, I bought myself a Tudor GMT. Very happy with it!
Great list Teddy. I'd also add the quartz version of the Tissot Gentleman as an alternative budget option and on the higher end something like a Nomos Club Campus would be a great choice too. I work at a University though and can say most students who are wearing watches that aren't smart watches tend to be G-shocks and Casios.
Student watch? The Gentlemen is a finisher watch! The time piece of gods. The golden god! I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!
Love the gentleman and have gotten so many complements on it! Really looks like you are wearing an Oyster perpetual but for fraction of the price and it is from a reliable swiss brand!
🤣, go Dennis

I love your videos like this. You can get a nice watch at any price point! The possibilities are endless 🙌🏻
My first "real" watch was a Citizen CA4420-13L Eco Drive Chronograph. What a watch for the price! Crisp, elegant, a Chronograph and with a leather strap! Really got a lot of attention from professors at Uni. Can't recommend it enough!
Im graduating this year, got my self a GM-2100C-5a and I love it!
Love that Citizen Chandler, used it for many years and was certainly a gateway into watches for me and the variety of movements available. Cool seeing it get some love here
I bought an Orient Neo 70s in the milky white (panda) variant in May this year. What an incredible watch! Wears like a proper 40mm, is super accurate because of the quartz, and is extremely low maintenance because of the solar Seiko movement 😍
I purchased the dress kx right after finals during the peak of covid. That was my first real watch purchase and it has been through some rough times with me. Now I'm about to graduate and am saving up for something for my graduation in November, the Tudor you recommended is really catching my eye
Recently gotten the Orient Mako 3. It fits really well on my 6.5" wrist especially after swapping out the bracelet for a Nato. Highly recommended! Real value for money.
I love Teddy‘s ongoing fight for the Tissot Gentleman… 😂
@TomReinderDE I wonder if he has a wagon of them stocked up😂
No need to fights, it's an amazing watch in its price range.
if they'd just make it smaller...
@@tolypolonty5766I would love to know how many people who say that about watches would actually buy one when it happened.
I’m guessing less than 10%
Its a gorgeous watch
Love all your content teddy , been wat hing from the start , stay safe from liverpool 🙏
I was offered a Seiko 5 Diver when I get off of high school and then all along my scholarship I bought various watches (another Seiko 5, a military One, a Citizen Promaster NY0040, a vintage Seiko Sportsman, a vintage Certina and a fun Swatch) and during all this Time I was lurking around the Black Bay 36, the old one with a Sellita and oyster bracelet, I will be graduated in December but in April, when I learned that it will be discontinued I got the last one of a Paris Store because it had to be this one, and after nearly 6 month I absolutely love it ! It suits my style very well, thus it’s discreet and only the people interested in watches notice it, i could carry it in all my adventures, I cycle to work and school every day, I do bike travel, I went to the sea with it and it’s very reliable and resistant. Of course its polished bezel catches some scratches but I bought it for it to be with me all the time and I know that every scratch was made by me, and will always remember me of this time of my life, the end of my studies, my first time living in Paris and everything, I hope I could keep it forever and I know that the Sellita movement will be cheap to service and repair if I need to !
Thank you Teddy, I love your advice about watch collecting is a marathon not a sprint and we shouldn't get consumed by that. That is priceless
Bought a Sarb 035 when I started college, and now just bought a Black Bay GMT as I start my PhD. great choices here, teddy
I have been deep into watches for almost 5 years now so, not very green. And I have 3 watches in my collection. And I love these watches, all three get a lot of wrist time and cover every aspect of my day to day life. So, I agree with Teddy when he says “it’s a marathon not a sprint”.
What are your 3
@@zacharyandrews1085 thanks for your interest. I have a Seiko solar tank (For formal occasions), a Casioak (beater/workout watch) and a Nomos club campus (daily/office wear)
I've just turned 60 and have retired. I finally have the time to get that university degree i've always wanted. I have some higher end watches, but looking back to the affordable is fun. It's common to only look up in the collecting journey but there are some great watches these days if you aren't hung up on price point.
I bought my SXK007 back in 2018 when I was halfway through my college career. Post graduation and I now have my SKX, PADI Turtle, Casioak, a few Ga-100/110s, Casio Duro, and a couple invicta pro divers with the nh35. I'm currently holding out until I can get something like the Tudor BB or the Seiko SPB143!
Love mamacoo the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the watch. I don't think any other CZcamsr can show off watches in as much detail as you.
I got a Tissot Gentleman as my first watch during college. One of my favorite purchases, a super nice looking everyday watch for an affordable price.
Currently a college freshman! I'm a one-watch guy (I wear a V1 Kamasu in black btw) and this series is wonderful! I have a larger collection but that's in a different country!
The Seiko SRPE53 has to be an honorable mention for its design and versatility. It can be had slightly under $200. You won’t regret it. Hey Teddy, points on that RADO for sure.
Today I got my first watch! It’s a Tissot, I fell in love with the brand a while back, and only recently I had the chance to buy my first time piece, this specific watch is around $700 but I got it for nearly half the price from a local authorized reseller! First of many ❤️
Thanks for this episode Teddy! I just got my seiko baby tuna save the Ocean. Loving it
Highschool, Moonswatch Mars. Had it for a year.Dream watch. worked very well so far.
Awesome topic, Teddy that you don’t find elsewhere!!
LOVE my Tissot Gentleman. As an all round watch it just ticks every box for me
13:28 I got one of these about a month ago and love it, such a good fit and perfect for a casual watch
Great videos Teddy. I am delighted to see you revisiting this video format like the days of old which got me hooked to your videos.
A suggestion, during any video if you could spend a sec for what you have on your wrist. I kept looking to see what what you had on, it looked cool. Also, love the new background ❤❤
My first actual watch was a Timex. I was in early High school. I don't remember the exact model, but it was close to the re-issued Falcon Eye. I remember being very impressed with the dial. The second watch was a Casio. Again, I don't remember the model, but it was robust and had good water resistance, which was important since I was heavily into Windsurfing. Finally, after university, I bought myself a graduation gift and went for a Seiko chronograph. I was already well infected with this sickness and never stopped buying watches. This has been going on for the last 45 years.
Time flies ha, good day my friend
thanks for the reminder on the Timex Marlin. I was too late to get a green dial variant the first time around, and this reminded me to check to see if they are available again.
I'm a college student and just made my first big purchase of a "real" luxury watch (from Teddy) - the Seiko SSK. I've had a small collection for a year or two now with some quartz watches and two microbrand pieces with the Seiko NH35, but it feels nice to finally own a legitimate piece (the GMT feature is especially cool) from a luxury brand. The journey is only beginning!
Wouldn’t call Seiko a luxury brand, but they sure are “real” watches. My first real watch was a Seiko 5 SRPG27 (which is the 39mm version of the first watch mentioned in the college section) and I don’t regret buying it one bit
First post grad watch was a new black bay 👍🏾
Wouldn’t have got it without your Tudor videos.
As I said a while ago I'm saving up for a graduation watch for next semester, the tudor heritage black bay red bezel with the smiley 79220R
The Rado Golden Horse, the Longines Conquest and the Oris BCPD are the stand outs in this group. 😊
I have the Orient Neo 70s panda dial, was my first "luxury" watch and it looks much more expensive than it is. It looks much nicer in person than in videos too. I have mine on a brown leather strap because the only downside of the watch was the bracelet.
My watch collection till date
1. Casio enticer
2. Casio duro ocean blue
Looking forward to buy a gshock gbd200 this October
I'm an adult career switcher, back in school (medical). I enjoy watches. I actually got a Seiko SRPH29 and switched the strap out for a silicon one thinking it would be a great do-it-all in medical school watch -- washable, legible, etc. It's perfectly fine, but for some reason, I'm more often wearing my SRPE53 even though it's JUST on the big clunky side (though I can wear my humble SNK793 if I want something more properly proportioned). On days with clinical skills exercises or preceptor attire, I'll sometimes throw on something like a 1960s Timex Viscount (vintage Timex is actually my main hobby focus).
My first watch was a Timex auto from my grandfather. It was on a Twist-O-Flex™band. I didn't do any diving with it but it spent a lot of time in water.
Casio Duro is such an awesome watch, i put mine on a stainless steel pcl bracelet and love it dearly.
Being an aspiring Industrial Designer it is so refreshing to hear someone who knows what industrial design actually is
Keep up the awesome content
i saw my seiko in the intro which i got last week and was instantly happy with myself
Really like how you ephasize "marthon, not sprint". One great piece is worth a thousand 'nice-looking' pieces. Also, wanting something for a long time and having to save adds to the personal value of the piece.
Thank you Teddy for all that you do! I am new to watch collecting and was immediately overwhelmed. Your videos and blogs have helped tremendously. I just purchased my first watch from your site, the Certina DS PH500. Will was tremendous in recommending some alternative straps as well (not just ones from your site). Incredible service and I will certainly be spreading the word. Thanks again!
Great choice, that is a proper watch
Not a student, but just got the Duro. Absolutely love it. Well worth the $50.
You mention in the video that Tudor offers the option of engraving. It might be nice to mention that Laco, at least here in Europe, also offers that option.
❤You just got to love what TimeX is doing❤
G Shock all the day everyday
Very helpful video!
your content is appreciated
I'm a senior in college, my watch collection is pretty good, I work and I was able to save up for my collection, however, to point out I live at home and don't have expenses save for gas. Seamaster 2551 rolex 1500 Hamilton khaki field, breitling colt, Cartier tank must
I am in my second year of university, and bought myself my first watch.
Seiko Alpinist SPB121J1. It is absolutely stunning if not for a fiber on the dial that Seiko refuses to remove under warranty.
I am blessed to have a preteen son who has inherited my love of watches. He wears his black Casio LRW-200H with pride. Being able to read an analog dial and work a rotating bezel is a "cool skill" among middle schoolers!
You mean there's people whom can't read the time? Next you'll tell me they can't read cursive
Perfekt video for me❤
For me it was:
Highschool - Nixon
Undergrad - fashion watch and esq swiss
Grad school - Tag Heuer formula 1 chrono
Doctoral graduation - Tudor heritage chrono blue
Great job Teddy
I personally recommend the Seiko Speedtimer, which I got for my bday. It's a perfect watch.
And what about the teachers and professors? I would love a video for them too
I got the 43mm Certina ds diver in titanium and I love it, definitly recommend it to y'all
Starting my watch collection right now
My first watch when I go college is Tudor Black Bay GMT Pepsi. Got it at 18 years old but is a 19 years old gift from my parents but the time bought it I was still 18.
4th grade - Casio
9th grade - Swatch
College - another Swatch
after college - Timex, Casio, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, another Burberry. Thinking of buying a Christopher Ward The Twelve next, but my cousin suggested Longines instead. I guesa I don't know anything about good watches. I just go for the looks I want & the sapphire crystal. 😅
When I was in high school I bought myself a cheap Timex wristwatch because I thought guys with wristwatches were cool looking.
But I didn't go for what my contemporaries were going for.
Keep in mind this was somewhere around 1997.
I bought a watch that was classic, affordable, timeless, and directly aligned with my stylistic sensibilities.
Thing is though, I bought it with my own money. I earned from jobs and side hustles, and though it may have been cheap by your standards, it was a status symbol to me. Not only because I had a nice looking watch, but because I paid for it with my own money.
I recently found this same old watch in storage, some 30 years later. I took it out, dusted it off, and I still liked it.
It took forever to find what battery it took, and buy it, but the second I put that fresh battery in and fastened the casing, the old girl fired up like no time had passed.
I own 10 dollar watches, and much more expensive, but the best watch is the one that tells time and never lets you down.
And my 30 year old Timex looks like it's not letting me down anytime soon.
That Orion in the lead up initial segment mention on microbrands looks interesting
amazing video! maybe you can do different majors soon
I have the Tissot Gentleman. That watch is a 10/10.
We need a smaller Tissot Gentleman at 36-38mm! As it does not exist, I'm highly considering getting a Rado Golden Horse
I have the gentlemen open heart edition. I think that feature makes it just more unique than other watches
It is very useful for most students to have a watch without a screen. Ideally it would have some sort of timer/stopwatch capability, including a dive watch bezel. Phones are not allowed in tests, and being able to pace oneself in a consistent way takes some stress out of the process. Having to find the clock in each room, and figure out if it's accurate, is unnecessary when the student has their watch on their wrist. It is also helpful with time management when studying, again avoiding the distraction of checking a phone or computer for the time.
Thank you for leaving in Teddy's attempt to say the old Timex slogan!
This just sounds like someone trying to convince their parents to buy them a watch.
If a clock is in the exam room, then it’s accurate. A watch is a nice-to-have fashion accessory, don’t waste your money thinking it’ll have practical applications.
@@acojo8205 It's an educator trying to convince students to buy a watch, especially those who struggle with time management during tests.
"If a clock is in the exam room, then it’s accurate." You should go to more schools.
I personally use analog watches to deal with questions regarding directions, like "John moved 20m south, then turned left and then 40m later, he reached his home. What direction is he facing?"(Things get a lot more complicated than this, this is just an example)
@@Aurora-bv1ys I would do that, but students today are often unfamiliar with analog watches! 🤣
Do you only review watches that you sell on your website teddy? Personally I’d really like to see a brand highlight on Bell & Ross. I would like to know more about their history and quality of movements.
Love the vids, glad to be here before a million subs.
Hi there! On this vein, I'm a graduate student in a laboratory and have a love for watches. I've always been fascinated by the idea of watches being a tool that meets particular industry standards: aviation, diving, travelling etc. The Rolex Milgauss famously holds the title as the scientist's watch due to the faraday cage and the relationship with CERN. I was wondering whether you could do a feature on watches for scientists? Working in cell culture, I've found my Seiko SNZF15K1 helpful as the steel bracelet can be sterilised and the rotating bezel used to mark the time for reagent mixtures. Was wondering whether there are many watches specifically designed for this industry/field.
My top 5 watches on my achievable bucket list are The Tissot Gentleman Emerald variant, The Oris Big Crown crimson variant, the Tudor 1926 Opaline with blue hands version, The TAG Heuer formula 1 with the Red and Green logo and lastly the Christopher Ward Twelve Ti purple version set for Presale this November. I am going to give Santa a call......lolol
What better gift could you give your loved one for graduation. Having the Junghans automatic on your wrist at job interviews , sale's and meetings growing up I think would give over a very good impression indeed.
As someone relatively new into watches I wouldn’t say that I hate quartz, but one thing that has keeping me away from quartz watches is the fact that idk how much would they last. I know that a mechanical or automatic watch can last for ever if you take care of it, but what about quartz watches? Like the Tank from Cartier that is not cheap
Nice lineup, however I was missing Nomos, as they offer a lot of watches in the medium to higher price range of this video + the option to chose between see through and solid casebacks and engrave both of them on a lot of their watches.
I’m getting more and more tempted to get a Longines Conquest, green dial.
Good list. Funny, I bought myself a black dial Gentleman when I finished trade school.
Awesome review as always. Just curious. When did you "tie the knot'?
my friends first watch was a poljot. Ballsy approach but he still wears it daily and it is beautiful
Still a great video. For the last category we could also think about a Nomos, allowing to engrave a message in the case back
Casioak is a great shout. Looks great and the battery will last your whole undergrad degree
Pretty nice list! Currently in college, Tissot PRX quartz is my go to
Why QRZ bro
Teddy, you've talked in other videos about the Seiko Cocktail Times. What do you think of the Cocktail Time Mojito? Do you think the green is as versatile as the others? I didn't see the Mojito on your website, so I wondered about that. Thanks.
The lighting in class makes my bb pro go crazy
Im a uni student and my current watch is seiko skx, really want a tissot prx for my next watch
Hi, I was just wondering what you think of the microbrand Straum, with their Jan Mayen. I really like the look, just want to know your opinion.
Thank you for the precis on lower end watches. You introduced some new brands too.
But I’m curious. The watch you wore in this video looked like a very different sort of design. What was it?
Being a uni student this is very cool
