    Admired it and enjoyed imbuing narrative pace! I got it as Rafs' vision of children of revolution reborn in a post-natural world of incubated green havens, post-punk era of emphasized technologically precise imperfections viewed through '60s acid spectacles paired with '70s darker turn. Children are cautious but curious Eloi anxiously imagining or vaguely reminiscing stories of rebellion, commutal freedom aim tracked with disillusioned and hypnotic Gaspar Noe type of vibe. 🔥

    Only people over the age of 40, who have followed Raf’s work from the beginning, in the context of his time, will truly appreciate the artistic message of this collection.
    We are at critical, global end times. Yet there is hope and idealism in the “youth” of any generation, that you can change society. And while there may be evolutionary points that move society forward,there will also be counter evolution, conservatism and destruction of such progress. It’s a cycle of decay/resistance, and hope.
    If you don’t like the clothes, cool. Maybe it’s not for you. The clothes are good and referencing both historical and contemporary ideas (the 60s, the 90s, the nightmare and the dream). There is a classicism in the tailoring ( even when raw edged) to carry the acid colors, body con layering (another nod to rave, a late 80’s-90s time of hope which emerged in dark political climates). Sometimes an idea and a concept overpowers the actual “product”, but in this case I think the artistic comment- told through the medium of clothes- has deep merit.
    What does a 52 year old man have to say about about the youth, his own or generations to come ? When you reach that point you will maybe understand. I don’t believe Raf is coming from a place of pandering to the children of today. If his own youth references can reach them, its a testament to the universality of the subject. Everyone was a teenager once, lost innocence and will eventually fade out into the dark.

      I followed Mr. Simons work since his early days. I wish he was more practical, here again is traying hard to convince with concepts, I found very silly his obsessions with the kind of "youth" he portraits. His weak, some times empty asociations with cinema and music are just words for fashion comentators not propaganda for the Youth. Yes the world will be changed forever and fashion is not longer relevant. perhaps we have expectations of a kind optimism that is not yet portrayed in the style, silhouette and tailoring promissed by Mr. Simons.

      Thank you for the informative take. I find myself here only b/c BTS and their little sibling group, TXT, were wearing these clothes/accessories (the buttons) in performances and promos for their latest projects. In my quest to understand the message, I found that it was a fashion collection from a designer, none of which I'd heard of b/c I'm not into fashion at all.
      So I figured "ok, it doesn't mean anything, it's just a cross-promo with a high-fashion line that no normal person could afford 🤷". But based on your analysis, maybe the clothing IS being used to send some kind of message? Now I'm just going on circles.

    Todo o mix de sensações transmitidos pelo som, ambientação e movimentos tem uma força que simplesmente não deixa as roupas aparecerem e as mensagens escritas ficam com enfoque enfraquecido. É nítido o drama dark, mas pra quê?

      @@LordvilexD7 youth lead the zeitgeist and when a 52 year old follows to gather any aesthetic crumbs to blend in with his aesthetic vocabulary then i can't help but scoff. how many collections has he done with the word "youth" scrawled on some garment. it just doesnt hit anymore.

    • @zeptoism
      @zeptoism Před 3 lety +3

      I agree with the redundant comment, but he isn't interested in the contemporary youth. He is obsessed with HIS own youth. A colleague has stated: "he does not even lurk instagram". What bothers me is his persistant preoccupation with his youth is borderline narcassistic... Lol

    I’m sorry, but most of these Covid-era shows do a real disservice to the clothes. Case in point here: From what I see of them, I love the clothes. I say “from what I see” because I can’t see much of them. At minimum, the presentation is overtaking the close, at worst, it is distracting to the point where I can’t see the clothes with the low lights, the intense color of the lighting, and props that get in the way. It defeats the purpose of all Raf’s amazing design work-and his work is always amazingly modernist, intelligent, thought-provoking. Can we have a Prada-type show, where we could actually see the clothes, instead of all these creepy-crawlies?

    • @artangel8616
      @artangel8616 Před 3 lety

      I think the video projects the message and raf wanted it to be dark for that while you can watch the runway pics after to see more details.
