INSTANTLY CLICKED! Pete, it's gonna be super nostalgic almost to see what you do with the R1 after vlogging for so long with the 1dx in the beginning! THE KING RETURNS
I don't think I have ever postet a comment on one of your videos, so I'm a bit sorry it has to be negative. When you use words like "the greatest camera of all time", "Quintessential golden child camera" you are really setting everybody up for a disappointment. What Canon need to deliver, is a reliable, futureproof workhorse, that Canon professional photographers can use five, six, seven years from now. It doesn't have to be much better than what is on the market today (from other manufactories), it just needs to be. It needs to be there, so Canon can say "we too have a rugged and dependable professional camera in our lineup, if you ever decide you need one". Glad you are excited. Hope you don't get disappointed.
I’m still shooting with the R6 (not even mkII), but I’m so hyped for Canon bringing a new flagship to the market. And I would love for them to release some kind of camera to compete with the X100VI, I really don’t understand why they haven’t already. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the R1!
I’ve been screaming about a Canon rangefinder for a year! I’d love to see a Canon P mirrorless. Hopefully, though, this will lower the price a bit for the R3. FYI, this is why I’m a Canon shareholder., we’re privy to a few things most are not. Keep it up! 🤙🏻
let me understand, the announcement scheduled for today was to announce that a camera is in development... without release dates and with a lot of self-praise in the press release🤦🏼♂️
Really confused what the point of this video was beyond cashing a check. Thought we’d get some sick hands on behind the scenes. Instead he read a press release…
hope it actually delivers. when r3 was pushed out, the very first firmware retains folder naming as r1, showing how arrogant cannon is now. many were drawn to nikon and sony by this kind of lazy corporate behaviour.
I LOVED my XT3 From Fuji when I switched from the 1DXii. The size and IQ was great but I wanted more MP and better video specs so I moved to the R5C and I don't think I could ask for a better camera system for shooting both stills and Video. Yes it's definitely much larger and lenses are larger but the image that comes out of the canon IMO I just love it. I'm SURE and I HOPE the R1 will be the end all be all camera for some people... I'm certainly happy with what I have but I'm really hoping Canon pushes the boundaries and really delivers a knock out in all aspects of photography and video.
It is funny to bring up the G series of Canon. I have a Nikon Z9 and it is a beast of a camera. But for fun I have gone back to a G7X MK 2. I just wish it shot 4K video. The auto focus is actually quite good. I heard the G7X MK3 struggled in that category. If you limited the wide end to about 35 mm, you do not get the wonky corners in the image.
My first real camera was a Sony cybershot and it was really so amazing. Perfect for the early 2000s and had a flash built in and the lens cover built in with power zoom. Really amazing how far we've come and at the same time how we are still in the same area lol
Hopefully a camera with pro level dynamic range. Arguably the most important spec to get digital looking more like an analog format. Otherwise it will just look like another, well, digital camera.
I own EOS R5 C, and it is amazing. One of the best cameras I ever owned. It doesn't have great battery life, but that's because it has a workstation-grade processor, actually based on Intel XEON, which made some Apple Mac Pro ridiculously expensive.
People say that but I still see professionals in sports photography use canon, not sony. Turns out it takes more than just having cheap lenses to convert people.
What camera is behind. The R6ii, the R5, the R8,R3 are cutting edge still. The Only reason the R5 really needs a update is because it is the only camera left with the old flash mount
Canon is going to have it tough. They've always been playing catch up with the rest of the market since the start of the mirrorless revolution and they're still years behind delivering what other manufacturers are making. It's why I had to switch cameras to stay competitive. It's not that Canon makes bad products. They're just not innovating. Nor are they making cameras that work for me any longer. I hope they do come out with compact full frame cameras and I hope they cram them so full of incredible features that can deliver fantastic results and that outperform what's currently on the market.
People saying Canon needs to keep up with everyone else, is the same thing people said about Nikon for years. Let them play their own game. It's why you use Canon, Peter. You love what they do with their cameras, so allow them to do what Canon does.
@CanonUSA we need a camera the rivals the FX3. Lightweight compact and kicks a$$. Come on Canon were tired of seeing others surpass you. Give us what we neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.
G9X mk III please. cigarette box size with improvements in all areas. f1.8. 5x zoom. weather sealing. something that really gives phone cameras a run for their money with superior optics.
A C70 mark is needs dual base ISO, non "plasticy" body, no record limit, good codecs, and rigging options in a small form factor with electronic shockless ND.
When are they going to have a high dual-base ISO of Sony low light equivalent? I want to go back home, but they won't step up to the bar. A Canon with a second ISO of a 12800 would corner the market!
I’m super excited to see what Canon is bringing to the table! Tangentially, the Western Hydrodynamic Research long sleeve readily caught my attention, is there anywhere you can see the research projects they’re helping fund?
They got a lot of catching up to do. My guess is that it’s gonna let Canons shooters down compared to where Sony is at. Canon has been behind the 8ball for quite sometime now.
always loving the TOTL canon 1 series but never be able to justify spending on one for non-money hobby. More hopeful for a R5 II with grip at reasonable price though

I pulled the Canon G10 out of the drawer a few months ago and hooooooooly it still holds up. Such a fun camera. Canon bring back the G series.
I've been shooting with my 5D Mk. II since 2012 and I've loved it ever since. I was about to drop $$$ on the R3, glad I waited.
5D Mark lll for me :)
It’s about time Canon !!! We’ve only been waiting for like 4 years
if you're not familiar with canon by now, they release a new flagship "about every four years".
“If it’s not… yikes” that is the truth right there. This is gonna be a pivotal moment for Canon and I hope it delivers.
Really appreciate you taking the time to unravel all that for us while you're obviously not feeling great. Thanks pete!

Nice! I haven't cared about new cameras in a long time, but this actually got me a bit excited. Let's see what the future holds for Canon.

Love the cold, been there the last two weeks as well 😂 I don't even shoot Canon and now I'm excited to see which envelope is about to get pushed!
So this was a video of Pete reading a press release? Not using the camera or going on some epic trip? 🤨
Earliest I’ve ever been to a video. And the fastest I think I’ve ever subconsciously done anything
No pressure Canon, but this outta be the "greatest camera of all time."
The fact that the body has a more modernized look from an aesthetic standpoint point gives me hope they are making some REAL changes.
"Canon has always been spot on with autofocus" - meanwhile my 70D...
If your autofocus always misses by the same distance, try a lens calibration at a reputable camera shop.
