Ha! Loved the restocking re-enactment. But to be fair, a lot of customers don’t keep packaging, or forget to return accessories, manuals, etc., and then as a retailer you’re faced with selling an out-of-box or incomplete product. And then you have “those” customers who Always want a deal, or ask for a discount because the packaging is not perfect... Sometimes a restocking fee makes sense.
I can't really argue with you to much on this because I tend to agree on some points (a little). Though sometimes it just seems rather crazy. Shopping is just not like it used to be. A small little online store now has the power to sell all over the globe! It's an amazing time, but with these changes comes different ways of doing business.
Thanks for the review. This helmet has fairly good reviews and it works with my helmet light. I probably won't mount a GoPro on it (plan on mounting the spare elsewhere). After taking a hit to the head on Sunday I might look for a MIPS one. BTW love the bug sounds...my current helmet is a magnet for bugs.
Damn man! Well this helmet is really just your every day bike helmet so don't expect and extra protection. It's not any less protection then your normal helmet, but not any more. The mount on the visor is really the only reason I kept it. Not because it's bad, but it's really not much better then what I have. Be safe man!
These things are only really good for one impact. I hit the ground hard enough to knock the visor off last time. I'm looking a new helmet singletrack wrote about that seems to have good padding.
Brian, we have something better than "MIPS" .. I have sold and ridden Giro, Bell, and many others.. Kali are as huge a company as others but their R&D as well as innovation are a cut above the rest - yes, I agree the camera/light mount should be placed higher on the Maya.. See cyclingindustry.news/kali-comes-to-market-with-mips-killer-ldl-head-protection-technology/
Thanks for the review. I just ordered the blue one on Amazon. I live in Nicaragua and hope it's ventilation is good enough for the hotter months. The visor looks longer than others I've seen on MTB helmets. Is it removable? Cheers
Nice review. I'm thinking of getting the new uvex jakkyl hde. I would spend 95% of the time without the face bar on but would be nice to have for the 5% when it might come in handy. Also sync is still out. I did figure out if I lower quality to 240P it's ok. So now I watch you in "8bit" or just use my phone :)
The vents are as good as any other helmet I have used. Really, I have not had an issue with that area of the helmet. As you can see I wear glasses and no problem there either :-) I'm glad you're asking these question because I would hate for you to buy something that does not work out for you. Ask away my friend! :-)
That helmet let all the sweat run trough my eyes and face, the first time I used it, was a really unpleasant ride, sweat all over my eyes.. I picked up the Kali to replace my fox but I still have to used the fox. Kali has a cool design but lame that doesn't hold the sweat
You know dude, I totally agree with you on this! I kind of thought I was just sweating a lot and maybe felt that it was just that. Also, a few buddies of mine wear other head gear to soak up the sweat so I also thought it might be that. You also feel it too. Interesting..... Thanks for commenting!
regularguymountainbiking @ 5:59 you mentioned "there is not a hell of a lot protection in here".. It's absolutely the opposite as the Maya features CF2 technology, might be a good idea to research properly, uninformed but great entertaining review otherwise: testing.echo-factory.com/bike/fusion-tech/
We're the local distributor and as always, do extensive research on all products we carry - facebook.com/xterracyclesandoutdoorsports/ We became so after a close friend almost died from a MTB crash and decided we wanted a helmet company that provide minimum gimmicks with great value and ongoing innovation as well as advanced r&d and technology that can't necessarily be seen to the naked eye. P.S. @ 5:55, totally the opposite. :)
If you don't mind, would you shoot me over an email so we can talk more. I'd like to follow up on this. gene@rgmtb.com My goal is to always give the best information to my subscribers and maybe this time around I need some assistance.

Sure gene... Will do in an hour or so. P.S. you have a new fan with us as well - we're all one big MTB family and will love to have you come ride with us during the winter in the Caribbean as well.
Well made video:-) the mount on the visor is nice to have, but I think the visor is too short. Restocking fee,is silly, not only for the customer but for them too they loose customers by doing this,I have never seen a store that got a restocking fee. some stores, fjellsport.no for example got free 365day/1 year return policy. which I think is a good idea. paying for getting the right helmet size is silly, not all helmets fort well for everyone, so result is a lot of money lost on that restocking fee. the bad thing with plastic shell helmet,is that branches make dents in them,IUJIhad a Mavic Notch, but Now I got a Fox Rampage Pro carbon,i will never use standard xc helmets anymore. I hate the slipping of the straps,on xc helmets,I have not seen a helmet with clamping mechanism for the strap, mavic got it only on the ear triangle, but not on the adjustment. This alone was a good enough of a reason to buy a fullface helmet. the fox rampage helmet got D ring instead which works well,it never slips. Many helmets got horrible adjustment, that fall apart,I had Met Crossover,It had parts that were snapped into each other, and they just unsnapped after use. I all of them failed, one even of them the polycarbonate failed in the rear, might be customers in the store that abused it. I like how the carbon shell on my fox helmet, protects, the polycarbonate shell from small impacts,no branch dents.
New helmet arrived but is too tight. Should have known spending $68 on a $160 helmet was too good to be true. Luckily my wife needs a helmet and it works for her.
Regular Guy Mountain Biking I've already ordered the Maya. First I checked the sizes and it should be fine. The one I'm giving my wife is the Shed Optics Short Stack.

So you ok man?
I got my bell rung. Wasn't a big crash but today I feel it. I crashed a couple weeks ago and should have replaced the helmet then.

I've exactly that helmet! It feels light and comfortable for my kind of head ;-) I also think it's a trail-biking helmet, not a hardcore-enduro one
The end was gold 😂, but for real though screw those stupid fees.
Amen dude!

Good for you man! Yes, you can unscrew the set screws and remove the visor if needed.

HAHAHA You're to funny man! So I'm all Max Headroom'd out!
what things did u get inside box while purchasing this helmet?
How is the ventilation? And does it hinders wearing glasses?

I bet you wear that white Bontrager helmet more don't ya? looks like a way cooler lid..where's the review for that?
when is this race you had mention..
It was about a week back. I have to get the video together and show you all they race. It was called the Mountain Creek King of the Mountain Enduro
Regular Guy Mountain Biking triple crown enduro or just mountain creek?
I only did the Creek race. Now that I'm hooked I'll do much more! HAHAHA

Johannes Nilsen thanks so much for the comments! You make some great points. I was blown away by that restocking fee!

Brian Vaughn That's a bummer :-( This helmet?
