After your Kia comes to a stop, if a vehicle is approaching from the rear when a door is being opened, SAFE EXIT WARNING will alert the driver and occupants with a warning sound …
A blinking warning light on the side view mirror …
And an indicator message will appear in the instrument cluster that reads WATCH FOR TRAFFIC … and it displays from the side the vehicle is approaching.
Safe Exit Warning uses rear corner radar sensors, located on both sides of the vehicle.
To activate Safe Exit Warning, on your infotainment system, press the SETUP button…
VEHICLE …
DRIVER ASSISTANCE …
BLIND SPOT SAFETY …
Then select SAFE EXIT WARNING to activate.
Passengers need to exercise caution when they hear the warning sound as they will still be able to unlock and open the doors.
Safe Exit Warning will remain active for up to three minutes after the ignition is turned off …
Or until the doors are locked.
