I love this one because you can tell that he has studied the music that came before him. He understands how the songs were put together, and it doesn't come off as a parody. It feels like a sincere tribute despite being fun. He's such a different creature to many of the current chart toppers. Brilliant to hear opinions on his music from someone like you who has seen so many artists come and go.
Ren has so much diversity with his music, a breath of fresh air that has this metalhead captivated
Ren’s band, The Big Push, has a bunch of street performances that are AMAZING. One of those songs is a cover (tribute?) of War Pigs by Black Sabbath.

Wherever Ren goes I will follow. I followed him here. The more Ren you share the more often I will return.
It turns out there's a ton of us over sixties who absolutely love Ren and your reaction to him speaks to why that is. He's obviously loves the music of generations past and honors it. If you get time check out the Black Sabbath/Rage Against the Machine mashup live street performance he did with The Big Push... It rocks!

His song Power is so fun. All filmed in his car driving around. It makes me smile every time I hear it. He over came his adversity and found music as his Power and he is like none other. He is a once in a generation artist.

Ren was misdiagnosed a decade ago by doctors. He actually had Lime Disease but they thought his mind was playing tricks and gave him strong drugs and the Lime disease ran amuck for 7-8 years. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment to undo all the damage done. his life was dramatically shortened by the misdiagnosis but he is doing his best to stay in shape and recover all the stolen years past & future.
Your two Ren reactions are great. You are the first reactor I've seen who has not come to Ren through "Hi Ren", which is what brought him to everyone's attention in December. I am musician, and a child of the 60s and 70s and have listened to everything since, and this "Hi Ren" video was probably the most impressive and moving thing I've seen. It isn't just music, it's art. An inner dialog of an artist facing serious issues that seems to resonate with everyone, regardless of their era and genre. I become obsessed with watching reactions to it, just to see the powerful impact it has on everyone. Besides amazing lyrics, he is an amazing guitar player and singer that you might miss if you only watch his rap.
His "Choose Your Own Adventure" journey thru the Ren universe is fascinating!
With all the Ren reactions going on right now, it felt like I was the only one who really appreciated just how genius this was. Thank you for reacting to it! I think you’d like a Bob Marley/Dead Prez cover of “I shot the sheriff/road to zion/hip hop” by the band he’s in called The Big Push. So many don’t recognize the Dead Prez Hip Hop piece of the whole video.

Ren is so diverse and so talented. He writes, produces, plays and sings everything.
He got Lyme disease at 16 and just signed to Sony then dropped due to illness. 8 years misdiagnosed caused a lot of health problems. All the time making music and writing. He's independent now and hope he stays independent 🙏🙏🙏
Recommend going down his rabbit hole and be mind blown.
Also The Big Push are awesome with Ren. Busking in Brighton and covers mash-ups with their own music.

For a certain age group. I don’t get how the nostalgia wouldn’t make anyone happy. This is so damn cool. I appreciate Ren would even come up with doing this.
OOH! besides all the other recommendations, you should check out his band's (The Big Push) covering "I shot the sheriff / Road to Zion / Hip Hop" - THEN "War Pigs". Oh My Goodness! Talk about paying homage & making it their own - phenomenal!

If you want to see him truly sing like an angel watch "Chalk Outlines" by Ren & Chinchilla LIVE (he uses a hallways for natural reverb) it's about self deletion, depression, addiction and over prescription or "How to Be Me" by Ren & Chinchilla LIVE, it's about a friend of Ren who self deleted himself on the bridge where they sing.
I concur. When I heard the "you can hear a smile" in your reaction, I immediately thought of 'Chalk Outlines (live)' with Chinchilla (an amazing artist in her own right) but not it's not a smile that you're hearing, it's quite the opposite.

Thank you for your time. If you want to see him truly be a Bard you have to see "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" it's basically a play in 3 acts (act 1 Jenny, act 2 Screech, act 3 Violet IN THAT ORDER) In it he plays the part of the Bard it starts in London 2019 (two zero one nine) in a place called Paddington. It's filmed in the streets 1 shot per act (probably took a few takes to get that perfect one shot) again thank you for your time. Have a great day.
These tales are really mind blowing at so many levels. The writing, the one take vids, his acting, his guitar playing, his use of buildings for there acoustics and that he understands what and how a medieval Bard would perform. To name just a few of the reasons Ren is so talented and different.
As someone who grew up loving radio I can tell you that chorus hooked me from the beginning. I understand parts of the song would not be quite allowable on the radio😂😂😂 but that could be easily adjusted. The only problem I ever had with radio was when there was a hit they would overplay it. And some radio stations do that still to this day. Like Sitting on the Dock of the Bay I heard it's so much I hated it. Not because it wasn't a good song it's just they played it so much it was no longer enjoyable.

Since fell down the Ren rabbit hole I keep asking, is there no end to his genius? I think Ren has lived through every generation in a way we can't really understand. He even has a track that flows a 1920's theme run through it. My question is, when will the MSM of music catch on?
I didn't read who you are. My brain automatically said this guy has a DJ voice from the radio, probably a rock station. I was pleasantly surprised I was correct when I saw it was a rock DJ reacting.

Ren was in a band The Big Push that drips with talent. There are many videos of them busking in Brighton and I highly recommend 'I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop' though you honestly can't go wrong with anything Ren.

Great reaction man, hope you do the Tale of Jenny and Screech(full). Its a long one but when you were talking about visualising this one, that one came to mind. Shakespearean tragedy is not hyperbole, as simple as the vids are he makes them cinematic, you'll see what I mean.

Exactly it's not just that you can hear a smile you can actually get pictures from the sounds of voices and music to me there are instruments that talk when played correctly.😊

Got aboard the Ren train!! It is a wild ride so buckle up. He is a chameleon when it come to music. I saw him in a Q&A and he said his favorite bands were Sex Pistols and the Clash. You have some great stuff ahead of you still. You are on his B-Sides, lol. J/K, everything he does is good even if it isn't your taste.

I’d love to play Ren on my community radio shows but I have to get rid of the f words if I can cos it’s not allowed by the management.
If you have editing software, take the track and all we do for the US is highlight the profanity, and simply reverse it. I use Cool Edit (Adobe Audition) and it's a simple plug in and works very well. You don't lose rhythm and you can barely tell it's been edited. If you need to, send me an MP3 at my email address in my profile and I can throw a quick edit on it for you.
