  • Such an easy and flavourful preparation, this Chana Dal Pulao is going to be a family favourite for sure.
    CHANA DAL PULAO
    Ingredients
    1½ cup basmati rice, soaked for ½ hour and drained
    ¾ cup chana dal, soaked for ½ hour and drained
    2 tbsps ghee
    1½ tsps cumin seeds
    1 bay leaf
    3-4 cloves
    ½ inch cinnamon stick
    10-12 black peppercorns
    1 inch ginger, cut into thin strips + for garnish
    3-4 green chillies, chopped
    Salt to taste
    ¼ tsp red chilli powder
    1 tsp Tata Sampann Garam Masala
    Method
    1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, and sauté for 1 minute or till fragrant.
    2. Add ginger, green chillies, salt, red chilli powder and 1 tbsp water. Mix well.
    3. Add chana dal and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add rice and sauté for a few seconds on low heat.
    4. Add Tata Sampann Garam Masala and mix well. Add around 3¼ cups water and mix well.
    5. Place the lid on and cook on high till 2 whistles are released and 1 whistle is released on low heat. Take it off the heat and allow the pressure to be released completed.
    6. Transfer into a serving plate, garnish with chopped coriander and ginger strips. Serve hot.
