  • Martyn Lloyd-Jones singing with his congregation
    Congregational singing
    Westminster Chapel, London
Text: Robert Robinson | Tune: HYFRYDOL
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
    Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
    Teach me some melodious measure
    Sung by flaming tongues above
O the vast, the boundless treasure
    Of my Lord’s unchanging love!

The original hymn penned by Robert Robinson a Calvinistic Methodist was altered several times in different hymnals to reflect the sensibilities of whatever denomination felt the doctrines were too strong. The usual kinds of historical downgrades that have left the church bereft of clear teaching. Now we're left mainly with twaddly one line repetitive choruses devoid of meaning that appeal to the emotional system instead of the mind which is the seat of the intellect & true worship
