Apparently the "upgraded accessories" skill boosts the effectiveness of the cait and octopuff charms. That may have been a no brainer to some people but I was under the impression that the skill only had an effect in stat boosting accessories. Skill: Mercliss blade ignores evasion on enemies.
Easier option: Hikari + 2boost Merciless Blade to deal 70 damage, Ochette to capture. If Ochette went first, just use Sticky Net to delay the turn of the cait/octorin. To get Merciless Blade, simply spam Nightmare Bottles.
Personaly, i just use Castti with her free item use skill turn1- a step ahead & boost start, so she hit 3 time with elemental damage ( = a little more than 60 damage ) and the chubby cat is ready to capture. You can put an other character with the hunter's trap skill (& with a step ahead skill) just in case you really want to put ochette's turn before the chubby cat.
I got mine relatively early, so here’s how I did it: I went to cavern of waves to do the hunting with both cait powders and Ochette’s more rare monsters. Once I found one, I got real lucky with the turn order which went as follows: Throné, Osvald, Temenos, Ochette, Chubby Cait, Lord of the Flies. For Throné, I used her latent power and on the first turn used a 1x boost donate bp on Ochette. On the second turn I used a large soulstone. Osvald used another large soulstone and Temenos used a medium soulstone which killed the Lord of the Flies and left the cait really low. Ochette on max boost then caught it with 100% chance. Everyone was level 47-50 if you’re curious. Did the same thing for king octopuff only the turn order wasn’t as lucky but it didn’t run first turn and leghold trap came in clutch for next turn.
easiest way for me: use bifelgans bounty with 650 elemental attack itll deal enough dmg for you to capture and doesn require much just the starter turn passive with your merchant and ochette - defend with ochette and use bifelgans bounty with partitio - ochette will be first next turn (after the starter passive turn) and she can capture 100% - if you use the thief nighttime passive ability youll need around 510 elemental attack
You need 3 octopuff bowls to recruit Alrond, by far the best npc in the game since his skill can boost the leaves, job points or XP points you get after battle. If you have the skill and accessory that boost exp plus the thief skill life in the shadows you can level up like crazy. Your only two other choices to recruit Alrond are to pay him 160k leaves or, and this is completely pointless, wait until Temenos is lv80 so he can guide him.
Also, the chubby cait provides some crazy buffs like invincibility or reflect and using the ochette ex skill allows her to summon the chubby cait three times in a turn which can make you pretty much invincible as long as she does not run out of sp
So kinda off topic but the game says to save in a different slot when starting the final chapter is it bad if half the characters are a bit under leveled do you get locked out of the rest of the game if you can’t beat the final boss
You have to use all 8 characters so I strongly recommend you get them up to par before starting. I was stuck in the final chapter myself when I accidentally overridden my save
Dude my RNG is so bad it's making me question the existence of the caits. I kid you not, 30+ hrs into the game and I've only seen a SINGLE Octopuff. No caits! And before people spam me with "blah blah blah just equip the Pot and Powder blah blah blah don't forget More Rare Monsters!" I HAVE! I've had at least one char equipped with all three of them at any time in the game. Feeling like it's a waste of slots, now.
My luck has been pretty decent with finding caits, but there was a point where I could not get a single cait to spawn with maximum odds (skill + equipment) for several hours. I'm wondering if the rng gets stuck in a cycle where caits just won't spawn. I'm just waiting for the data miners to post what the cait odds are in each area and how much of a difference the powder really makes. Good luck with your cait encounters!
I've got 3 pots, 2 powders, more rare monsters and am coming up to 60 hours. Not a single Chubby Cait so far. Had a few King Octopuffs though. They do spawn at different rates in different regions so might be worth looking at the wiki. Not something I've done yet myself, but may have to because this is getting ridiculous.

It doesn’t unless there’s a visible buff next to it like (+50) it has no effect
@frozboz octopuff pot is invisible buff unlike stats lmao, who knows if it's increase it or not unless someone try it first

I just play the 25 percent gacha on defeat and pray I win the gacha roll. Works 1/4 times.

Give Agnea One Step Ahead and have her use Windy Refrain. Now your whole team gets a turn ahead of the enemy (and an extra boost point to boot).

The food can recruit certain characters, and I think you can also use the food in battle for specific buffs.

What do these animals even do that you want to capture them so badly? I don’t use ochette main party so I don’t capture that many monsters

Go back to where you got the merchant job and get another license, it’s 100k leaves and 300k leaves to unlock the other merchant slots

you're fine. some of the zones become level 50 or 51? but most zones stay as they are so u can grind if needed.

I get them constant but have just been killing them for XP and Money. Had no idea they gave good items
