    1:47 Actually a very good answer. It is a sudden pressure wave. The air waves merge into a single shock wave at the sound barrier, causing a sudden pressure burst that is the sonic boom. In zero atmosphere a sonic boom is not and there is no sound barrier. The kids answer gets to the bottom line of what's happening since without air (atmosphere) and a pressure difference the Sound barrier answer don't mean anything since you won't even hear it.
    Daren didn't actually explain the sonic boom. Saying it breaks the sound barrier is not actually an answer :) The kid has the correct way of thinking. What happens is more important than what it's called. Most people know the words sonic boom and sound barrier and that something like a bullet, whip or helicopter blade tip can break it... but nobody ever explains whats happening. And that's science. Nevertheless it is nice to using ordinary day happenings and how things work to explain the fundamentals of laws of physics. Good video.

      @terriblecontenthere6626 Před 8 lety

      yes very correct but funny enough most people just go by the name of something besides the logic of how it works the kid is intelligent to bad if he's esaly brought down by words he'll start thinking he's wrong I to notice this about the whip when I first got one they said it breaks the sound barrier I thought to myself this makes no sense we have light I hear nothing from it I told myself an 4th dimensional objects can't be broken or break I then realized and sumed up your answer to bad people harldy think of the reason and focus more on the name

    • @Stanman121
      @Stanman121 Před 8 lety

      Haha, Yes, what you say is so true :)
      I posted a comment, but I guess it's not a big deal. But I can see that you have an Inquisitive mind and thing about things more deeply. Especially when you mention light and dimensions :) It's good to ask questions and to think deeper about stuff. I myself love to know everything about quantum physics and the world of the small.... atoms, energy etc etc.

      +pimi tupou Wow. That was interesting reading. Thank you. I never realized genetics had such depth and potential impact on ones life. I find it hugely interesting. I guess ones we are able to tweak genes at early ages (if governments and people don't argue against it) human race will forever be changed.
      I have heard of the way people remember things but it's not from their past. I remember watching a movie that has that theme... that is the weirdest thing that memories can carry over in ones genetic make up. But also very cool since one has this definite link with your past in many many ways.
      You must have some serious stories recalling memories that is not just your own. Amazing actually. :)

      +pimi tupou That is so insightfull. I hope you share your views with people sometimes even if you say you keep to yourself most of the time - which I understand. I like to read what you replied. I have a very open mind to what is possible and things we dont fully understand since it is not part of every day normal life as most people live it. 😊

    Did you back up a truck of sugar to these kids mouths? Maybe it would be good to be a little old fashioned with the scouts and to teach them stuff like respect and to not talk when people are trying to show them something. Isn't that what they used to teach scouts? I know they're excited but enough is enough. There should be some consequences when they behave this poorly.

      It isn’t prison. These are extremely young individuals who are being shown a treat and feel very excited. The guy demonstrating will prefer a bit of noise during the demonstration over pure silence.

    • @PaulTheSkeptic
      @PaulTheSkeptic Před rokem +1

      @@fredoran What prison do you know that gets to see a cool whip demonstration? Or would ever have anyone tell the prisoners "Please settle down and be quiet so everyone can enjoy the show."? And they're not extremely young. They're all like 7, 8 or 9. If they were 2 okay. No. Kids this age should be able to sit relatively still to see a cool thing and remain relatively quiet. They should all be in 2nd or 3rd grade by now. Did you talk all the way through your 2nd grade class without stopping? And people tell me I'm too liberal with kids. There has to be consequences. There's a time to be loud and this isn't it.
