With a borrowed recipe from Homnibus, Papa Smurf creates a magic stick that Clumsy takes and loses in the woods. Soon after, Bigmouth comes for a visit and before he eats all the smurfberries, Papa Smurf finds the magic stick and whisks the giant away.

As the Smurfs prepare for the Festival of the Stars, Gargamel plants a creature in their midst that smells so rotten that he can easily be traced to the Smurf village. Papa Smurf realizes that Born Rotten is from another planet, and he instructs Feathers to return him to his home before Gargamel finds them.

The Smurf village institutes a fire brigade to battle the flames in Greedy's kitchen only to discover that Gargamel has taken all of their water. Not realizing the weakness of his dam, Gargamel and Azrael are washed away when it breaks and floods the Smurf village, extinguishing the fire.
