  • Create your own lit up Christmas ornament or bauble, using the step by step instructions in this video tutorial. I start by showing how to make an easy Fridge Magnet or Card Topper, then move on to the more complex ornament. So, add a bit of seasonal cheer to your decorations by creating this winter wonderland scene using Polymer Clay.
You can get subtitles and slow down any of the fast-forwarded bits of the video using your settings icon.
So, sit back, relax and watch as I take you through the process.

The large round cutters come as a set and can be found by searching under ‘Round Cutter Sets’ at various online retailers or in your local stores.
The small round cutters can either be bought in a set specifically used for polymer clay from many shops on Etsy, (I originally got mine from MyMandarinDucky on Etsy - www.etsy.com/u... ) but I have also bought them direct off eBay, where you can search under ‘Cord Pin End Crimp Terminal Wire Copper Connectors’ to find similar cutters, but you will get a huge amount all the same sizes.
The burnishing tool I use is called a Stainless-steel Soap and can be widely found online and in stores (it is normally used to take away garlic or fish smells from hands).

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I used glitter clay in the sky which looked liked distant stars and replaced the bush with a snowman (in my world, every snow scene needs a snowman). I have now made another which is just a snowman amongst lots of trees. Thoroughly enjoyed making these. I think next year I may do a similar thing out of icing and use them for my cake topper. Can’t wait to see the next tutorial 😊

Fiona Abel-Smith PolyOriginals I am still fairly new to the world of clay, I was wandering as you have put this onto a bauble, I’m guessing if I had a plain mug, I would be able to stick it to one of those and make a Christmas mug ? If so would I need to seal it so the mug could be washed ?
Thank you for taking the time to reply, hope you had a good Christmas and I wish you a happy, crafty new year !!

@@cleverclogsbecky Have a look at online photos of mugs decorated with polymer clay, and you will see there are loads of them, so yes it works on mugs, and you shouldn't need to seal it. However, you do need to be aware that it shouldn't be machine washed, only gently by hand, with no Scourer, and depending on how you arrange your design around the mug, it may be liable to ping off the mug if the edge of the design is caught. I hope that helps :)

I can’t believe how much difference adding the snow details made!! It took the piece from being very nice, to being phenomenal.

Hi Fiona, thank You very much for your tutorials. I started working with polymer clay 6 months ago in part because of your tutorials. 😊 They're helping me a lot. I don't have much time because of work and kids, so I make things just for fun and as gifts. This tutorial caught me at home, because I'm ill. So I made a quick gift for my 96 year old grandmother inspired by it. After baking I found out I was using glow in the dark all the time instead of a translucent clay 😀. Happy Holidays and thanks for making my evenings not just about TV (and sorry for my English) 😊
