Yesterday I got Toasty to lvl 199 2 times in a row. Was tilted asf. Then I checked out this video. "That's an interesting strategy, feels less reliable on RNG", - I thought. So, I tried it and got killed by Green Reaper 4 times in a row.
Dude I just had the green reaper appear 4 times in a row at 8 minutes!!! I thought twice was insane and then the 3rd was impossible and I don't even know what to think about 4th

My biggest issue with this method is that the green reaper literally just ends your run if you get him (just under 50% of the time). I will be showcasing it on stream tonight and might make a guide as well, but that's my feeling so far after a few test runs.
Well, it's a 59% chance that he doesn't spawn (with 30% luck), IMO those are really good odds given how long it can take inexperienced players to actually kill death with the Clerici method. There are many that succeed first try and many that do it for hours and still didn't succeed, I think overall Leda is a lot more likely to happen than Clerici is, but it also requires more active input early on which Clerici doesn't. After 12 minutes however you are save from the Stalker, so here the fail condition is pretty much 12 minutes in, while Clerici's main fail conditions are 3 minutes, 25 minutes and post 30 minutes in, that's quite a rough one to swallow
I used this method, had to reset a couple times to get Empty Tome but when I did I killed it first try! Thanks for the guide~
Update on this.
I got it today!
A few important things I noted:
- After 2 minutes gems will stop spawning but they spawn again (or turn into green gems) at around 9:00 minutes so keep that in mind.
- Positioning is important. I found that if you keep the attract orb off screen, it helps when turrets spawn. I had a situation where turrets spawned in the top building and that was a nightmare.
- Move just left and right to get the thing to target enemies in the beginning. That helped me a lot.
- With keeping the top building off screen but enemies not spawn and the building to the right, that helps with boss spawns. Usually the bosses spawn on the left but sometimes they come through the buildings which helps for upgrading tome.
- Be careful with early waves as their bosses might spawn a red gem.
it worked!! Nice extra is it will work perfectly on HURRY (not HYPER). Kill at 32:10 (which translates to 31:05 with half-speed timer). Thanks so much :)
I was a noob with vampire survivors and i try this method for like 10-11 times and failed every single time because while going to boxes i level up or i could not get any boxes due to position for me was a fail, tried with Clerici and at my second try i killed reaper , idk if it was my way to play or even me playing wroung but i think that the Clerici way was easier for me because i just had to be looking to the screen for 30 minuts xD . Still two ways to do kill it is better then one ^^ .

Great method! Worked first time
3 out of my 5 attempts today, 3 Drowners spawned at 8 minutes, 1 spawned at 12 minutes and I fat fingered the level ups.
This is more consistent but still a little cumbersome at times.

Well actually that still makes sense. In the video it took roughly a minute to kill him (substracting the time it took to get XP, levels and chests), so that would only add another 30 seconds. Very solid strategy I gotta say
@@DexTag Yes, exactly. It gets a little bit hard at the 25 min mark (or I'm just bad) but it works perfectly. When the reaper spawns, since he has a little bit higher hp, there will be 3 reapers on screen close to the death of the first one, but moving around and keeping them stun locked, Laurel for my stupidity, and you're done :D

This seems inifnitely harder than the Clerici guide you posted. I'd rather stand still for 30 minutes and occasionally glance at my screen then actively play with Leda and have to manipulate spawns and dodge shit and...

well theres people that dont like clerici because its kinda gimmicky, and cant make it with toastie so its a valid option.
After doing it myself you only need to move around until the red gem spawns then you're set and can stand still. After 3 minutes you can stand still unless you want to manipulate a chest. Suprisingly extremely easy
should i be resetting if i accidentally get lvl 3 before 30 min?

Just did a run without slash and still got the kill. My Magic Wand (not Holy Wand, I took a second one) actually outdamaged my knives due to the lack of crits!
I also took the revives instead of the Clover, too, due to getting the wrong arcanas, though in the end it was totally unnecessary for the kill - I didn't even die once until after 33 mins.
When the cockatrices show up, i don't have enough damage to keep them away from me and I die, even with level 5 tome.
Man, and I just unlocked him with Toastie yesterday

Love this! Quick question though? If you can't max or get empty tomb can you just go towards the closest chest on the way up and banish the first not needed item to get the chest to level up empty tomb? Thanks!
I've tried clerici 20+times past the red orb, since arcanas have been added every time at 25 minutes the runetracer left, I was wondering if lag was causing it to skip bounce frames
I did the strta like 3 days ago working as intended. The arcanas make it easier thx to 3 free revives.
Maybe your positioning is wrong or you got to lvl3
After seeing the FPS question, I wonder what the FPS is in these guides as I only have 50 FPS and I can't even make a guide.
Got my reaper kill today using this method although completely lost track of which chest had arcanas in so had to waste some time getting them and never got my crit buff arcana either still managed to kill one reaper and finally died with 5 of them alive

Killed the reaper at ~32 Min, seems like slash is not that important

I just wanted to point out, this strat is working for me and i am really happy that dex shared it.
The points he mention just give you the best odds, because the Game infact has an skill expression.
I accidentally killed the reaper yesterday. I used the guy that starts with lancet, wanted to evolve that and Laurel because I hadn't yet. So I did get all passives full, collect rings and the red thing, on this map, got.. I think cross, magic wand and flame wand, leveld up normally, evolved all of those and killed the reaper in like 30 seconds.
Now, why do you stand around and level up all at once at the end and not just play normally? I don't understand that, seems overly convoluted.

I had a green grim reaper spawn immediately at the start of a round while I was trying to do this strategy, didn't know that was possible! Hopefully I can pull this off because I really wanna play as The Reaper,thanks for sharing another method to get the job done!
It's the stalker. He gets you the 1hp character (dex made a video about it). He doesn't always spawn I believe
@@shiizzux5438 Yeah I followed his guide the other day and got Toastie,and just now I finally got the Grim Reaper with this method here! It was very satisfying to finally get it,took me at least 2 dozens tries but I really didn't want to resort to the rune tracer strat to get the kill,and toastie strat is hard af lol.
I just never seen the Green one spawn at the beginning of the round except for once which I took a screenshot of because it was the first time I saw it so early,thought it was a bug or just a rare spawn that maybe others might have info on.
The more luck you got the less likely green reaper will come.
@@apostleofd119 I know that much,but I've never seen a Green reaper spawn literally the first second of a match,until I did randomly while running this reaper kill strat. I just thought it was odd,only saw it once.
THX did it on 3rd 30min try. Picked some gemes by accident on 29:58 and leveled up to 3. But i managed to kill him anyway xD

Way easier method than Clerici. Biggest thing is that positioning doesn't matter at all.

how did he deal with the green reaper in dairy plant?
Stalker has % to spawn in Dairy and not guarantee, so pretty much just RNG until he doesn't spawn.

Freeze and laurel helps a vs for reapers.
Tried it but using duplicator as 1st item coz i only have 1 reroll. Killed it in 1try hahaha just got 3arcanas unlock so no prob with rng. it works guys! Good Luck!

Started trying this... quit after 83 times restarting game because no empty tome at start with 2 rerolls.
Don't do it with 2, use 4
I didn't know Clerici was so unreliable. Out of 7 attempts that went past the 3mn mark, I made it to the reaper 6 times. So I failed to do enough damage to kill it in time 5 times and got killed once. A lot of attempts didn't make it past 3mn, but the overwhelming majority of those just didn't get Runetracer, and the rest just leveled up. So overall, I only died once before fighting the reaper.
Maybe the hitboxes have been changed since then? Or I just got lucky.
It being unreliable is a mix of everything, not just the first 30 minutes, which - if I understood you right - is supported by you saying 7/7 attempts failed.
It's not that you look at a 5% success rate, just that there are multiple instances it can fail.
Yeah. that's weird. I unlocked red death on my first try with Clerici. Worked like a charm 👌🏼
@@jamie_michelson it's not, chance is chance. Some will take hours others get it first try. I'd say the chance overall for the entire line not to fail at one point is around 20%. For a single person that's a nice successrate, but if several hundred thousands watch the tutorial and try it that means a huge number has to do it again and again
You can kill reaper with every char just don't go more than level 80 and take the skill that freeze and the skill that makes you imune and enjoy

I just edited the game files to make garlic do a million damage then waited in il moise for 15 minutes. As if id waste my time trying to kill the reaper legit
Newest method: Just get Clock Lancet, Laurel, and a bunch of arrows and rings lul.
Getting Empty Tome at level 2 is quite difficult
Difficult no, tedious at best, but it's the same with Runetracer and Clerici or Song of Mana on Toastie. Just rerolling into it and if it's not there resetting, if done quickly that takes around 60 seconds to get it done.
@@DexTag Maybe. I didn't have much trouble getting Runetracer for Clerici. While I was 'playing along' with your video, I didn't manage to get it at all. I think it's more rare to get a passive weapon at level 2, than to get active weapons, generally.
@@davidburnett5049 runetracer is a weight of 80, empty tome of 50.
Passive weapons can't appear on level 2 but on every reroll, so 4/5 times.
It's less likely, but roughly half as likely as runetracer so not that unlikely

I don't know why people can't kill reaper with Cleric. I kill reaper with my first run, before arcana update and make 2 more run for fun and I kill reaper every time :P
It's not about can't, it's about chance. Even something with a 90% chance means 10% will fail. On a single person that's not noticeable since it's very likely to succeed (90%), but with 300k+ people doing it that's 30k+ that fail.
And out of those 10% 1% will have really bad luck, which is still 3k people.
Point is that odds being good is somewhat deceiving on a scale like that. And 90% is simply not the case, it's less than that for a person that is inexperienced. E.g. just standing above the table to kill the Reaper will fail 3/5 times
i tried it yesterday, didn't get hit a single time for 30 minutes, when i went for the red gem i died instantly without any hope of reaching it, rip-
