This one really hits hard. My mom introduced me to Grease when I was 13. She told me it was one of her favorite movies when she was growing up. She would always sing out load in the house, “Hopelessly Devoted to You” when I was a little girl. Little did I know that was the song that Olivia Newton-John sang in the movie. My mom knew that I loved singing and dancing and that I wanted to do something similar when I grew up, and she told me that I would love it. And she was not wrong. I LOVED IT!!! Mainly because of Olivia’s character in Grease, Sandra Dee. She was the embodiment of the kind of girl I was and who I want to be. Sweet, kind and gentle. Thank you Olivia for giving us Sandy. We will always and forever be hopelessly devoted to you. May you Rest In Peace and you will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, colleagues, and friends during this time. ❤️❤️❤️
I am crushed and certainly "Sandy" was one of my favourities. Regret I never had a chance to meet her!! RIP Olivia.,!! The world is dimmer with your loss!!!!!

First time I saw grease was in 2017 and it's my favorite movie along footloose (the original one)
She left us all with such amazing music, movies, and a role model of strength and beauty...an honorable legacy is all we ever want to leave this world with and that she did...Prayers to her family and friends for comfort, peace, and strength for the coming days.
I feel lucky to have grown up in the late 70’s and early 80’s and remember her in her prime….
I was born in 1980 i loved her movies and songs. I am 42 years old. In 2022, she will be missed....☹❤😥😥 RIP.
What is amazing to me is: She was 30 when she made Grease, and yet, she was believable in a teenage role. That is amazing. Most of us at 30 could not pass as even 18 or 19. That movie shaped my childhood. It's Iconic. Thank you to ONJ.
So proud that Olivia always called Australia home. She embodied all the virtues that Australians aspire to. She continued to give and give and give. The legacies that she left will last forever. I refuse to reduce her to one movie role in the 1970s. She was so much more than that. I'm glad she made Grease and Xanadu and everything else she worked at but it is her sense of humanity that will stay with me. The kind and gentle human being she enveloped all she passed by with. She changed people. She was that powerful. THAT is her real legacy.

As a kid, I used to hear “Summer Nights” and “You’re The One That I Want” on the radio and sometimes they did play “Hopelessly Devoted To You”. I hadn’t seen the movie yet, but I used to sing a long to them and dance. And due to that, the radio station was giving free tickets to see Grease on Ice, and my grandma won the tickets. One of my cherished memories. Finally, as I got older, during middle school and it was talked about a lot, I got to see the movie and I was hooked and watched it constantly. 💔😔🕊🙏🏾 Olivia, thank you for the treasures you left behind, “Magic” was always one of my favorites as well. I listen to Olivia's music on a regular rotation, still; I've never grown tired or felt worn out by it. Her natural fresh-face beauty really was only a small part of who she is, although, that was a huge factor in her popularity. She not only inspired women who are/have battle(d) breast cancer, but guy's like me, as well. I've survived four separate trials of cancer in my lower stomach/upper bowels since 2000. The last time was this past year. I'm in remission *again, but, I know how these things play out. Her bravery and strength through the times she faced tragedy... has helped to give me strength to 'not' just give up, and to remain optimistic about what may come next. I'm not afraid of what the future for me will eventually be now. It's okay. Thank you Olivia... you are sorely missed. ❤🧡💛💚💙🤎🤎🖤🤍

Was introduced to Grease as my first musical from my grandma & fell in love with its entire story. And even loved Xanadu & her albums. At 28 now & thinking to myself, my grandma passing away from cancer herself in 2011 will FINALLY be able to meet Olivia in the afterlife & ask all the questions she had about Grease including what it was like on set. I hope Olivia is dancing & singing her heart away meeting everyone she can in the afterlife.
Same, I'm 30 and my whole family cherished Olivia and that love was passed down to me. I'm so heartbroken, I've cried every day so far. It's surprising for me as I've never been so distraught over a celebrity death, an actual stranger. But she was such an inspiration for me.
I remember one of her songs from back in the early 70's . I Honestly Love You . I was hooked on her music from then on . It was an honest heart breaking love song that had a heavenly touch that could never be forgotten . She was a beautiful spirit inside and out . She seemed to be the girl next door . She was angelic in music and in life . She was someone that most everybody wanted to be with .
It breaks my heart for the world to lose her . But it truly so much better to know ,as a fan , that we lost her to serve the Lord over remaining here suffering and fighting that battle of Cancer . I went through Cancer as did four other family blood relations plus a sister - in - law . I had to watch three out of five go down hill more and more each day they were fighting to stay here . It was beyond hard to watch where at one point you find yourself praying for them to be at peace from this horrible disease . There's no words that can describe what it's like to have to watch people you love slowly fade away , to slowly die . To know deep in your heart they still have some fight in them . So you say to them that as long as they had fight left , that you too will fight with them until they can't anymore . You find strength to face it with them , as Jesus said for us to lean on him , he will help us and the loved one to go through it until it's time for them to go . He will stand with us to comfort and help us cope .
To the family , I would like to say how sorry I am at her loss . Her fans may be able to comfort you with some memories . I want to send hugs to help comfort everyone .
I wish to send say to all that the prayers I have said I have asked the Lord to have mercy on her and give her the rest she very much needed and give her peace . She was blessed by the Lord with the gift of singing and she in turn shared the heavenly voice that the Lord gave her . He has been so very proud of her singing . I think he was trying to give a small glimpse of what heaven is like through her singing.
May the family be blessed and so very proud of her accomplishes in her time here . She is watching over her loved ones .

I’m a retired nurse,five of my twenty year career were spent on an Oncology unit,it’s quite remarkable that she lived five years after her diagnosis of the metastases to her bones ,but her positive outlook had a lot to do with it as well ,some may argue with me ,but I’ve seen that work with terminally I’ll cancer patients…RIP Olivia you will be very very idea by millions of fans ,and of course by your husband,daughter and extended family members .

Like no other human being in our lifetime. OIvia had work to be done, people to help, & get so many on THEIR roads to recovery. Such a selfless, beautiful soul. Olivia kept right on her passionate crusade, smiling her inimitable smile, so others could see/feel & have hope. She did this even as she realized that she was losing her own health. An extraordinary talent, a peaceful soul, a humanitarian, (who was also so gorgeous!). Olivia had no peers. 💜
The older I get the more I realize it's not what you do in the spotlight that counts.
But what you do off camera that's everlasting.
Olivia brought so much joy and hope to those she met regardless whether cameras were rolling or not. In most cases they weren't.
This is so sad. She was an amazing actress and person.
I remember she was in town for a day. I made it my mission that day to get to meet her and I did.!
I gifted her with some small pieces of art work I had been doing @ that time. Made from plaster and painted.The funky fish collection.

True. We were on a staircase landing & her minder’s ushered her through & it was like that scene in Grease and she was @ Rydell High @ the football meet & she was pushed through onto scene.

While watching Grease, my grandmother suddenly mentioned her and the movie which surprised me bcoz I didn't know that she knew her or the movie, especially with the fact that she doesn't know English. She said she still remember the movie well, and I think she said she even watched it in theaters 4 times. The fact that even my grandmother, who is uneducated and doesn't know english, knows her just speaks highly of Olivia as an amazing person with a lovely voice. RIP Olivia!
