    Something to consider: Steam has to remain at a certain temperature to remain so, and if they wanted to achieve the temperature that was ideal to convert that volume and high pressure they would need very high temperatures in the range of 700°F/ 371°C-800°F/426°C (this is extrapolated from the design of the 1925 Doble steam car), for the effect of superheated steam. So, moving on that assumption, would not people be boiled alive from the steam being fired out of the thrusters?
    So, what is up with the ice? Here is the thing: never in the movie did it say that what was coming of the thrusters was steam. Think about what the character Dr. Edward Steam said earlier in the movie (quoted from the English dub)," There have long been steam engines capable of high output but all of them require enormous boilers and numerous cylinders, everyone absorbing energy. With every step the system loses pressure so the power is severely limited. But gaze about you now, Ray, this systems loses almost nothing from source to function and the functions are virtually without limit." Would not the very idea of steam thrusters contradict the idea of losing almost nothing?
    So, what material operates that would create this effect? Why, air of course, simple atmosphere. A compressed air can or bottle rockets are good examples. I theorize that many of the cylinders in the Steam castle are in fact air compressors. Think about it, an efficient steam engine uses condensers to convert the used steam back into water so the water is reused. When air is rapidly compressed it rapidly heats up, almost explosively (the principle which diesel engines are built upon). You can feed the heat down into the boiler so you need less fuel to sustain the needed heat, this is why you do not see as much smoke coming out of the stacks when the castle is in the air. When on the ground the steam castle likely used water from the Thames for the condensers but when the Steam castle took off, the condensers instead use the thermal properties of expanding air. Also, this is why later in the movie, when the castle gets up on legs, the thrusters are still spewing gas, it needs that flow for the condensers.
    This is my analysis of the steam castle from Steamboy.

      Only there is no condensers or boilers, only steamball that thanks to the will of the author somehow contains infinite amount of pressurized steam. I assume the stacks are for everything but flight and movement systems, for heating(people live and work inside the castle and this is England) also for all the workshops, dont forget all the thigs and parts had to be made somewhere and I dont think you could bring all that is seen here without anyone noticing

    • @FabricationMachinep1
      @FabricationMachinep1 Před 3 lety +18

      @@JuniorP97 i am pretty sure there are boilers as the chamber where the steam balls are is specifically called the "boiler room" Not to mention when you look down into it there is a faint reddish glow. Also there are smokestacks and where there is smoke there is fire.
      As for the rest this is speculation on my part derived from my own studies in steam. As I said my idea makes more sense than simply assuming the castle is being held aloft by steam, which to reiterate the movie never explicitly says that is what is coming out of the thrusters.
      As for how they could build the steam castle under the nose of the British? well.. The Great London Expedition was to showcase steam invention so having the O'hara foundation shipping steam parts to the pavilion would be far from unusual. Also, when Ray repairs the dog Colombus' steam-powered treadmill, he does say that the Castle uses all-American standard parts, which kind of gives you a hint where the parts for the castle were made.

      @FabricationMachinep1 Před 3 lety +20

      @@JuniorP97 Addendum, The steam from the balls as mentioned being made using water of incredible purity could not mingle with the water being drawn from the Thames which means the system the steam balls were using had to be logically separate and a closed system from the Thames water feeds.

      Katsuhiro Otomo has a gift for conveying Might, Epic Clashes and Pure Adrenaline. Akira, Metropolis, Steamboy these works all have this. Conversely if you want Peace, Emotion, Wonder, Love, Beuty there is no one like Hayao Miyazaki. I think these two complement each other perfectly for the ultimate quality anime experience.

    I would like to point out that if that thing went boom like it dose near the end it would be like Hiroshima going of in London. first there is the fact that a pressure wave from the explosion would smash most structures with in a quarter mile of this thing to bits provided there where any of course, then even if that wouldn't happen the shrapnel from this thing would kill anyone unlucky enough to be standing in the wrong place for miles around. and even if that magically did not happen to make a ice ball that big require the loss of heat. to make something that cold that fast would give off heat like crazy. this thing would incinerate anything with at least minimum a quarter mile possibly more given how I'm not smart enough to run the numbers. so ya this thing would be arguably one of the biggest bombs ever blown up both in terms of size but also in damage. so those people i aw from the ice would not be enjoying this as much as they do as they would ether be dead or bleeding from there ears.
