My Mom did this for several years for our beloved family Siamese cat. Zachary lived to be almost 20 years. Our family dearly misses him.
😂EDA
So sorry for your loss. Your mom was an amazing pet parent!
😭 sorry for your loss
Thank you so much for this video. I watched about 5 other videos before this and yours is the most thorough, helping me to have confidence in dealing most safely and effectively with this new experience in life.

Cute Cat!

I'm looking for a video about how to do a urine catheter for my dog who is recuperating from back surgery and is not able to urinate on his own. Thanks.
@xxhellokittyyyxx yes, but you should get instructions from your veterinarian.
2:12 i laughed so fucking hard when i saw him
in another video I just watched from a non-smiling non-white-coat-wearing person, she said "do not see-saw the fluid between the syringe and vial" because it can contribute to contamination. INSTEAD
STEP - Move plunger in and out of syringe several times to evenly distribute the lubricant which is manufactured into new syringes.
STEP - Prep: Set plunger in syringe to the number of units of insulin you plan to withdraw.
STEP - set insulin vial right-side-up on a flat surface, table or counter
STEP - Action: With the vial upright (rubber end up) insert needle through center of rubber only enough to get needle tip into the air inside the vial. Keep the needle in the air inside the vial. Don't insert it too far., Don't put the needle tip into the liquid insulin. Keep it in the air.
STEP - Action Press plunger fully into syringe. This injects the measured air into the vial air. HOLD the plunger fully inserted into the syringe so NO VIAL AIR enters the syringe
STEP - Action In one continuous motion Invert the vial with needle still in it. Once it's upside down pull the needle out of the vial slowly until the needle tip is completely inside the fluid.
STEP - Pull the plunger out of the syringe to withdraw the amount of insulin needed. Continue withdrawing an additional half to one extra unit.
Do NOT suck vial air into the syringe.
Do NOT allow the plunger to go back into the syringe while the needle is in the vial
Do NOT push any fluid back into the vial - that increases possible contamination of all the insulin in the vial.
STEP - Prep: With insulin now in the syringe pull the needle out of the vial. Put insulin back in cold storage (IE: refridgerqator)
STEP - Action With needle aiming up, "flick" syringe until air bubbles rise up and exit syringe.
STEP - Prep Push plunger in slowly to push out the extra half-to-one fluid unit of insulin. This allows stopping the plunger at the PRECISE dose. If plunger sticks or doesn't insert easily, rotate the plunger between a finger and your and thumb while inserting it.
Administer to cat as usual,
Thanks
Why are we using recombinant human insulin for cats? I can't imagine how that might affect their pancreatic tolerance in the long term?
Won't the air you inject into the vial denature the proteins?
Sir does small air bubbles in syringe cause harm?
I would be more concerned that the air bubbles may affect the accuracy of your dosing. Subcutaneous injection is safe.
As an actual human with type 1 diabetes, I can imagine how hard it would be to give an animal an injection before every meal
This scares me
Have to do this for my cat now but the vet couldn’t show me because of social distancing stuff 😫😫
Yup, same here. I'm not too pleased about it!
That is sad! My vet still brought me in with a mask on us both and showed me still!
Isn't that an air bubble in her syringe??
thanks but i watched this for my turtle
💞💞💕💕💕💕💕💕
hahahahahahaha
im on the wrong side of youtube again
Insulin for a cat! We've got millions of people of people in north America that can't afford proper health care, a medical system that's stretched for cash leaving resources under utilized, and people are buying insulin for cats.
I got news for you folks - save your money. Pick up a new one from the SPCA and you'll be doing two cats a favour.
People love their cats and don't consider them disposable when they get an illness. The only reason insulin is expensive is because of the drug companies in the USA. You can go to Canada and buy insulin MUCH cheaper. So, in short: fuck you.
I mean, these people pay for that insulin, someone makes money off that, and there's no shortage, so, it's not like we're choosing between a person and a cat. I don't get the problem.
Go to hell! Animals are our family as well! They deserve good care! Idiot! This post is for mrcdad!
Piss off! We love them not gonna let them die!!
