I used to live near where Jessie lives but moved to Consett 6 years ago. Had not heard of this nursery but went there this morning and grabbed a few veg plants to add to my new potager garden.

Hi Tony, I was there yesterday, the people are lovely. It's so handy as I live in Crawcrook. Watching you in the veg shed, I kept saying "keep going" the sweetcorn is on the other side

    Hey Tony
Well I went to our local convenience store, the owners wife has a thing about seed starting and every year she supplies the whole neighbourhood with flowers & veg plants. I've been kinda in the dumps lately most of the spring as I have to rebuild all my raised beds and because I've been sick I haven't been able to but when I walked into that store I got the green finger bug again so I grabbed a cpl cucumber plants some watermelon, basil, ghost peppers, beefsteak tomatoes and a classic eggplant. Hubby says he is going to pull out the old pots and I can grow in them till he can find the time to rebuild my raised beds but little does he know I'm taking the watermelon to the front garden so they can grow all over his front lawn which he's been fawning over for the last 2 yrs lol. He has the time to feed and re sow grass but has to find the time for raised beds ha the grass will be a good comfortable place for the watermelons to grow. Lol 😂

Coming from Devon and now Wales, I have never seen a garden center like that. You are spoiled up there Tony.

Original/traditional Jack's Magic is a peat based compost,, that's the one I use all the time

I could walk round the nursery with you all day Tony.
How amazing. You are very lucky to have this magnificent selection. We have nothing like this in East London

So nice to have a nursery , where people know what they're doing, And you can walk round the greenhouses!Rather than a Garden Centre , where they leave all their tender plants out to get frosted !with a sign saying Tender !🤪😊

We grow a couple of Kiwi plants, one a shed wall and another through a fig tree. Loads of fruit, a bit on the small size; maybe we should have thinned them. Ate them with the skin on as they were too small to peel. (Location: Birmingham UK)

With the skin on??? What, full-grown kiwi and with the skin on! Never. I never. And never would.
I love the flavor of kiwi, but the fruits don't like me very much, I'm afraid.
Just can't get my mind around anyone actually biting through that skin....
Wonderful tour, Tony, even more wonderful nursery and thanks so much for taking us along!
Much gardening love from Ohio, USA! 😊 💚💚💚💚💚😊

What a lovely nursery, so much choice! I have a lovely little family run nursery near by and it has some very different plant varieties to the local garden centres who stick to what's popular.
Ah Tony you are going to have to go peat free at some point. It is for the best reasons, climate change and saving a beautiful habitat and peat bogs are great for locking in carbon. And most nurseries now use peat free where possible. Peat free compost is a different product and does need a bit of getting used to. The weather has been too cold and dark this spring and a lot of people have said they have had poor growth on seedlings and it really isn't' down to the compost I don't think.

I eat the whole kiwi fruit... well I bite the top and bottom off... but otherwise I eat the whole thing... then again, I also eat apple cores... so I'm a bit odd ;)

I'ts funny you should mention eating Kiwi and i'ts peel. I used to love eating the flesh of the fruit and had no problems with it. But for whatever reason also started eating the peel. That's when it all went wrong. I quickly became allergic to eating Kiwi fruit, even just the flesh not the peel. I get a horrible, almost itching reaction in my mouth, tongue and throat. Almost to the point where my throat feels like it's closing up. Just horrible.
Is it something in the peel that causes this?
As an aside. I also get this reaction from unripe bananas.

Hi again Tony, any suggestions as to clear a huge area of weeds that grow about 2 feet within 2 days?????
