I did my conscription in Pori brigade which carries Finlands tradition as part of Sweden. it was raised as Björneborg läns regemente in 1629. But first finnish unit in swedish army was raised in 1555. Yesterday was 466th anniversary of Finnish army Sweden is not that mucha ahead with this year marking 500 years🇫🇮🇸🇪

The red wine, symbolizing blood getting spread through parts of Sweden, kinda starts towards Stockholm, from Denmark, with the base of the cup standing in Denmark. Stockholm was where the Danish king made the Bloodbath, that sent Gustav Vasa fleeing/going in search for help, which lead to the creation of Svea Livgarde, among other things. Not much of info, but I found it interesting to see that wine spread like blood, with 'start' at Stockholm area-ish. Whether it was intended or not. Fun fact: my mum (civilian worker) still worked when that changed, to keep her work she had to sign that she agreed to that she could be deployed. (She has MS and was in a wheelchair working part time at that stage 🤣. Of course she would never be deployed, but rules are rules you know. We used to joke they needed to make her a tank wheelchair.) Anyway, I hate war but I respect and appreciate people that serve, because even if all conflicts aren't needed the people who serve are.

My family have always had atleast one person per generation serve in the guard and it was the place I joined aswell, sadly i hurt my leg bad enough during basic training that I never got the chance to serve, but even so. This song really fits well as an anthem to the Swedish lifeguards. bodyguards guard a person, lifeguards guard the position/title (in this case the royal family and their homes.) Not sure but I do believe most countries in Europe have their own versions of lifeguards.
I'm one of them, one of the Royal Guard 500 years old. :-) But I didn't knew that untill I saw this video. I served in the swedish regiment K1 in 1978/79 as a militarypolice (I'm now a prosecutor here in Sweden) and we were called Svea Livgardets Dragoner. We were cavallary so we had to learn to ride a horse. I have a lot more than 80 hours on top of a horse. I have ride (rode/ridden?) five changes of "högvakten" to the Stockholm castle and walked three. In that time Stockholm was a beautiful city. Still is ofc, but the criminality is silly in that town nowadays. However, this song makes my heart warm. It's a recognisition from Sabaton for my service to my country. I love them for that, I love them for all their other songs, I love them for their music, I love them for their lyrics, I love them for uniting the people in Europe, I love them since they are a part of me and since they make me proud to be Swedish. /MickeP
Livgardet today is still the unit protecting the king. It is an elite unit specialized in urban warfare but as in giving their life for the king, they are probably not that much more special than other units. But they are stationed at the royal palace at all times, and prepared to evacuate the royal family and parliament along with other high value propaganda assets in case of war. The king of Sweden does not have any formal power, but he will have an impact in propaganda, especially the current royal family since they are quite popular with the Swedish people.

Celebrating Kungliga Svea Rike Livgarde a.k.a "Livgardet" (Royal Swedish Life Guards ) who are celebrating 500 years this year (1521-2021) and who yet today is The Swedish King and Stockholm citys main protector . Unfortunately the Swedish government has stopped the Swedish military to coorporate which was supposed to be. Due to as they called it " A political risk"
And in April I think you get a chance to react/listen to an English version of this song. As an Swede it`s interesting because I kinda usually prefer the English version. Don`t know why just preference I guess.
