  • It's time for some commercial vehicles here on TestDrive. We're looking at the 2020 Ford Transit Connect Titanium Wagon configured as a passenger van.
PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: teespring.com/...
Vans are an important vehicle in the Canadian marketplace. We've started to see a resurgence of interest in minivans for consumer use, but what about the commercial vehicles like the Ford Transit Connect? Our Spotlight goes over what you need to know if you're in the market for this $43,000.00 CAD 6-passenger van including what features and options are available on the Titanium trim, what sort of engine and power you get out of it, and why you might choose this over a traditional minivan.
Our full tour and review of the 2020 Ford Transit Connect Titanium also goes over the interior configurations available on this vehicle, and the kit you get for this price. We take the Transit Connect on a winter road test to talk about how the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 tires work with a FWD van in Québec and what sort of fuel economy we did in our real-world testing. We investigate the interior noise level on this vehicle, as well as how functional all 6 seats are for adults.
We wrap up our episode of TestDrive Spotlight on the 2020 Ford Transit Connect Wagon with our final thoughts, some of the competition in this segment, and the bottom line when it comes to this van.

Fit, form and function. I own the 2019. My peeps were a little concerned at first, but now they love it as much as I do. It converts to a cargo van in minutes but we use it as a daily driver affordable passenger van. Paid $19k USD with 32k miles on it from CarMax.

I own a 2016 short wheel base liftgate version, equipped with the 1.6l turbo charged engine. Once you can go past the "toaster" look, which is actually the nickname of the car, this has been one of the most versatile car I ever owned.
I specifically wanted a sliding doors rear, mechanical for safety and reliability.
Carrying luggage or unusual items is a walk in the park, given the head room in the back, unlike the other vehicles. We can put my spouse's and son's bicycle by folding half, and we can go to the trail. I skate...
The 1.6l is powerful enough to do everything, including long distance travel. And you never run out of space.
As I looked specifically for the turbo charged engine, I had to settle for what I could find. In Texas, only the 2l atmospheric engine was available, and LWB. So I had to go to Louisiana to get the one I own today.

Great review! Use a 17 wagon for my job and it's got the backseats removed. As far as the engine goes I've stuffed a barrel of laquor thinner that weighs about 1200-1500 pounds and this engine didnt feel sluggish by any means. I mean it felt slower, but it wasnt a problem merging or passing on the high way. This a great little van and my work convinced me to buy one after I pay off my mustang.

The TC isn't perfect by any means but it's vastly superior to the offerings from RAM and Nissan, both of which have awful transmissions. I have to admit that I'm worried about this new 8-speed transmission in the TC. Hope it isn't a turd.

I am an avid cyclist, in fact that’s why I bought a CUV easy to put a bike in for driving to rides multiple states away from home. I know a few couples that have Transits. They can fit 2 or maybe more bikes and enough stuff for a week or 2 away. Still I think the Chrysler Grand Caravan is the most popular it’s bigger more power and those stow and go seats! I’ve thought about one but as an only vehicle it’s a box on wheels and suffers in mileage.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  Před 4 lety

The storage capacity on this was great, one thing we didn't show was the ability to remove the seats which would add even more space if you needed it. I can see this being ideal for gear & at least two full bicycles.

The one I own is Ecoboost, whatever that means... it is the 1.6 liter engine, turbo charged. They have replaced it with a 2.0 liter turbo charged today, still Ecoboost.
Honestly, you get the same torque and power with a turbo charged engine, than an archaic V6 atmospheric.
I don't think they would have room to put a V6 anyway.
This is a utilitarian vehicle. It is incredibly good at what it has been conceived for. Obviously, not much of a looker, so your social agenda may suffer from it.

You can organize the back with some specific storage accessories, and make it fit your purpose.

Here in New England I've never seen a parcel delivery service of any kind use vans this small, they just can't carry enough. The only exception is the USPS but they have their own weird vans they use. I've only seen the TC used for specialty deliveries like flowers for example.
