  • How to Clean a Horse Saddle | Cleaning your horse's saddle is VERY IMPORTANT for keeping both you and your horse safe. Not to mention, it will make your tack last way longer! In this video, I touch on one of the biggest mistakes you can make when cleaning your saddle and how to clean it the right way.
    Here are links to a few things I used in the video. I'll get a small percentage of anything you buy using one of these links, so thanks for the support!

    I’m cleaning my western saddle that I haven’t used in 40 years but I did have it completely restored and then stored in my parent’s basement where it started to mildew. Now I have just bought a 40,000 acre ranch in south west Texas, and I don’t want a four wheeler to patrol/ survey the ranch. I have never tried an English saddle I just always hopped on bare back and rode back to the barn to saddle up, or went without for my daily ride. I’m the type of person that if I want to disappear on my own property for a few days or weeks and not be bothered I will just me my horse and a rifle or two. If my presents is required try smoke signals I will investigate smoke. Good tips on cleaning I was just going to use saddle soap. And after it dries out Neatsfoot oil.

    I cleaned a bunch of saddles for the first time at the barn this week, I did not see this video yet, however next week bridles are on the list and I shall take these tips to it.
    I currently ride western, I’ve only been riding a little more than 6 months so I’ve been trying to get the foundations down. I am hoping to try English in the future though I am pretty happy where I am and I’m glad I started with western since I’ve had a injury that’s forced me to do quite a bit of single reining and the lesson horse I ride did cattle cutting so he’s well accustomed to it.

    • @CarmellaAbel
      @CarmellaAbel  Před 3 lety +1

      The best way to see how a saddle fits is by putting it on the horse. I’ve found saddles that are the exact measurements I needed, but just didn’t sit right. People will usually let you do saddle trials where you can put the saddle on your horse and see how it fits. Read up on fitting the gullet and the length of the saddle. If these measurements are off, they can do serious damage to the horse. Let me know if this helps!
