I have a love hate relationship with these sprites. They're super goofy but they're almost nostalgic in way. Back when times were simpler and this was basically almost all we got in terms of a full song for 2.0
I wonder what Triple Trouble would've looked like if they didn't go the Xenophanes route
100% they would’ve made him look more terrifying and less badass
@W33WillyWinky imo i prefer xeno as its a mix of creepy and cool. some exes go all in on the first one, and when it comes to a mod, the sprites usually are too stiff and goofy, an example being the part in this video after the green hill section.

The phase one sprites make a little bit more sense as the first song has sonic extremely stumpy and short but in the second all of a shdden his proportions and art style are changed entirely
It makes sense for his proportions to be entirely changed has its shown in many ways he can do it but I don't like the way tye art style changed
In 3.0, it was planned to change you can't run a little, like his color and quills. To more accurately portray that this version of Sonic. EXE was a transition between SonicEXE and Xenophanes.

I'm kind of glad this never came to be. Sonic just looks super goofy and out of place. It doesn't feel like Xenophanes and more like a take on sonic.exe. So, I'm guessing this was the teams take on sonic.exe until they replaced it with Xenophanes.

The concept of sonic transformation at the end of this round had so much potential. By hearing song notes this could be more epic if Sonic started chasing BF, after he somehow broke through GF`s protection
Gf doesn’t protect bf, the only sonic.exe (xenophanes) can kill bf is if he beats bf in a rap battle this is a common error that people make
Damn, imagine if the screen just cuts to black in the end of the song, but for a split second, you can see that sonic has catched bf. Then Triple Trouble plays normally except that in the end the screen fades to BF's mutilated corpse in the forest where You Can't Run takes place.

To be honest, I thought it was just unused sprites replacing the original YCR, but it ended up being WAY more than that. I just feel like the effort putten into it has just got too good for me. When I also saw the green hill one, I thought it was just an effect added to it. But the sonic part was just highly high effort as it WASN'T just like the original YCR. So I just believe that THIS could've been added since it had WAY too much effort made into it. I just wish this was the original YCR for the old sprites in 1.0 of Sonic.EXE mod. I just can't believe how high effort this is. The effects, the sprites, MUAH! perfecto. This doesn't even feel like a normal Sonic.EXE song to me anymore. That one sprite where sonic grows, just makes the whole song up! I wish sonic songs were actually like this and the artstyle is just too matching. More like it was just sonic.exe more instead of the sonic.exe we have now. He wasn't supposed to be that scary, but now that I think about the Sonic.exe 2.5/3.0 Update, and It's just kind of not that scary. I personally think that mods should have more style into it. I'd usually say "Keep up the great work" but since they were just lost sprite, they were not actually by you though, I just think that you put in the shaders in the song to make it more cool. _So, with all that being said, I like the song since it had more personality into the other sonic.exe we have now. And I really like the song and the styles with mechanics such as sonic appearing._

slightly late but I'm getting nostalgic from seeing hundreds of Sonic.exe 2.0 leaks and these sprites
I was pretty certain this sprite was a troll at the time of when I saw it, lol. It looks so goofy
Everyone talking about how it looks like they took Sonic.EXE as a joke in this version, but honestly I see it the other way.
Back then in development, Sonic.EXE’s character wasn’t treated like some pissed off,salty Sonic mad man and it felt like Sonic was becoming a genuine threat to Boyfriend and a step up from YCR.
But nowadays in the current state of the mod, it’s kinda hard to take him seriously when it’s made obvious that he’s pretty much losing his composure just because he can’t win against a blue haired rapper written like a self-insert Gary Stue. Final Escape somewhat shows this character of Sonic.EXE the most.
In all homesty, the older YCR felt more in character to Sonic.EXE, and whether I not I liked the OG character or not, I can’t deny it felt a bit weird seeing Sonic.EXE written like any other “calm to angry” fnf mod.

I remember seeing a video back then (I think when ver 2 came out of mod) but the video itself was older and it featured the old sprites (this one not the other old sprite) honestly they were just weird. Considering how these look (not meant as an insult to the artist or anything), I wonder if not having the redesign into what we have now would have impacted the whole mod's impact on the community, since then the people that didn't like the mod would've had something to directly point at and say "This mod sucks and here's proof"

fun fact: this was used before 1.0 or 1.5 and became scarpped and turned to new one at 2.0
i was watching the stream before v2 released and it has this sprites, it seems they inmediatly changed them because you cant run was the last song of the stream
this appareance is more similar to the "I AM GOD" image, idk why they changed it to the modern sonic version

It kinda resembles the design for the original too slow design it kinda seemed boring because it just seemed like he's still the same until the release for 2.0 then his height changes and starts growing crystals also it kinda seemed goofy too

Some of you won’t believe me when I say this: when legacy edition first came out before version 2.0, at the green hill part I actually imagined sonic would take bf to green hill and then eventually go back to whatever the was supposed to be. Cant believe it came true!
Same for me, just in the second Green Hills part I thought Green Hills would be bloodier/creepier.
