This car actually still looks quite fresh now, it certainly hasn’t dated too much in all of those years!.

I run a 225 f1 team with 130k miles on it, had it 4.5 years. Replaced swivel hub bearings and other than normal wear and tear items it has been a brilliantly reliable car. Beautifully weighted steering, massive grip, snicky 6 speed box and brilliant brakes! Also love the looks, (groundbreaking for the time) Sorted temperamental window wiring with insulation tape to stop the damp ingress and has been fine for 4 years. All in all it is a characterful car and it encourages enthusiastic driving. Every drive a thrill! Mods completed, rs tuner stage 1 remap, uprated engine mounts, short shifter and exhaust silencer delete are all definite improvements i have carried out. Because of badge snobbery these cars are also great value!

I got one last month rs225 cheap, fast, well specced loved it sadly a month in and I was smashed into on a roundabout but now I have bought the rs250 👌 blacked out they're great cars

Nice to see one like mine, there were many specials that are popular but Lux pack makes a great daily driver. Had a mild map from RS Tuning in Leeds years ago and has been great, boost slightly earlier and economy at least as good.

I had one of these, was my 2nd car after coming from a 1.2 Fiat Punto, felt like a beast! Was awful putting power down in the rain but could've been bit down to tyres too. Was pretty powerful though :) I went to a MK5 GTI after which didn't feel quite as fast in terms of overall power but put the power down much better

Mothers got a cabrio 2L, changing the top end to the 225 and turbo, and full r26 body, it’s also a Monaco edition so nice black and red interior with MOST the options only missing rear back up sensors only got 70k on the clock👌🏻

had mine 9 years, apart from windows "bof" (French for not today sunshine) no issues.

Agree with the pricing of these. The slightly earlier ones were around when Fords Mk1 Focus RS came on the scene around 2003 yet you would need 4 or 5 times the money to buy one of those compared to these and the Megane has more power too if not quite the cornering prowess.

I’ve got the R26 and it’s a lot of fun on track.

Ive got an Evo 6, but always had a soft spot for these. Despite the "French Reliability" that these get tarred with, they are fantastic value, and getting older, its more of a mechanical hot hatch where you need to work it to get the pops and bangs and adapt your driving to the car. Hot hatches nowadays, are faster, but anyone can drive them. Plus an R26 can keep on the heels of a Mk2 RS, for less than half the cash.

Lights are easy to replace if you know what you're doing. Through the wheel liner is a hatch that you can take out. Know problem once you've done it a couple of times

Love these big Meganes, especially the R26 F1. But I think the 225 will be the one I go for with my tighter budget
