I used to think these were hideous but with time they grew on me. They still look quirky to say the least but it's cool, different, french way of doing things. Would surely consider these before a VW GTI. Great car!

Hey Jamie, this Megane is an R25. The R26 has the F1 Team flag on both front and rear bumper, and the R25 has the bicolor lines on both bumpers (and it doesn't have an LSD) !
This is my old car, I bought it completely standard and done all the modifications you see in the video. Is an amazing car and ignore what anyone says about French reliability, I've owned 10+ VWs/Hondas and always had issues, I done more miles in this than any other car and it didn't miss I beat. Tom Peel now owns the car and it is up for sale £4200. Great buy! Id buy it back but I now have a 2010 Megane RS250 Cup and love it! Great video although it is a 225 F1 not an R26. 150 where brought to the UK, this was the first registered F1 in the UK along with photos with alonso standing next to it in the Pitlane to celebrate his win and also it was the Renault UK press conference release car!

Jon Moles I put the R26 spoiler on it and forge dump valve when it was my car, I presume you did the rest? When did you own it? It had one owner after Renault used it as their promotional car then I bought it - it was already remapped by Renault when I bought it and was running 260bhp.

but the major difference is having no lsd
i had one for two years and it was great. Never went wrong was super reliable and great to live with. Then I got the RS250 as soon as it came out and that was in my opinion a much better car!! Noticably quicker and better handling. The RS250 once remapped kept up with 400bhp cars yet was over 100bhp less. There is a vid on youtube of an M3 racing my RS250 with a stage 1 remap and the M3 couldn't come past
That's a 225 F1 édition not an R26 if I'm not mistaken

I thought the same that's it's not a r26 but a 225 when I see the 55 plate! but no it is a r26 ! You can tell from the dials which are different to a 225 and the centre display which is bigger hen a 225 and also silver and black in colour rather then orange and red in the 225 also the front bumper is different ! and yes the r26 does have a lsd where as he 225 does not
Oh and the tail lights are different as well

I love the Clio 200's the only thing that bothers me is this low torque and lacklustre interior especially disappointing if you don't happen to have the recaro seats
Don't need Torque when you have 200bhp at 7400rpm. My daily driver now is a Octavia VRS. [ diesel ] remapped to 215bhp and 450ft torque. it's useless before 4th gear. torque iss for people who can't drive a HIGH REVVING NA. so torque will prob be for you.

Would love one of these, I've got the 1.6 dynamic and it's never let me down and pretty pokey for a 1.6 compared to a focus 1.6 . Megane 2 looks awesome
Love that car, I own an 06 Megane, only a 1.6 vvt but I get what he means about the lightness. Mines still fun to throw around a back road. Really underrated cars.

i have owned an R26 for the last 7 years, ( a real one :) ) same colour than this but alot better condition, what has he done to the paint work :/. i agree with what you say Jamie but you should have said more about the handling and grip the car gives as that is where the car is really at, i trackday mine and not a lot can keep up through the bends :). great videos Jamie.
I have an mk2 225 5 door on a 55 plate, didn't know they came as a 225 f1 so I took off the stickers, oh well, but down to the car, on the rolling road it shows 230bhp and 312 nm of torque and yes I love driving it. Torque is more than adequate when it comes to overtaking in traffic and on the twisty 'b' roads in north Wales where I live the chassis really comes alive and it is a pleasure to make it work, the performance is great but then we come to the internal fit and finish utter crap, who or should I say what did Renault have putting the interior together, I'm prepared to live with the interior because I enjoy driving the car so much but I can see why a lot of people would say no to one just because of the inside alone.

any car can break down, look after it and it will look after you, i own a 5 door 2007 LUX megane 225 and i love every minute im in it, yes there are many better cars out there at the moment but these would be a newer age type car like your 2010 onwards and this means big bucks, my LUX gives me so many goodies it makes it so easy to drive and i always feel like im in an elite club as i never ever see the same car, fun loads of power comfy and sounds awsome with just an aftermarket cone filter, i could just do with a remap to bring it upto newer hot hatch power, i would recomend

It's not pulling you all over the road and puts the power down because it has a LSD in the f1s 👍🏻
This is an R25 and not an R26, biggest difference is the R26 has the LSD where as this R25 doesn’t, it’s still a great car but not an R26.

Boardslide270 r26r was the stripped out version of the r26, the f1 225 featured in this video was a limited release to celebrate Renault's f1 victory in 2005 it had the recaros and cup suspension but no LSD, the later model of the r26 was an upgrade to the f1 as it featured a LSD and a slight map to increase the bhp to 227 hint them being called r26 230, I've owned a 225 so know these models inside and out! This is a 225f1 edition

Personally would get the Focus ST as it has a unique engine, great tuning capability and sound. Also cars can have alot of equipment if optioned. (Heated seats is a must for me)

Obviously don't like driving then rob as the r26 is the best all rounder for the money, take one on a track or a good b road and you'll see. Plus Renault sport cars are built from scratch by the Renault sport team at dieppe and are notoriously more reliable than standard renaults...... fact
jamie tucker fiction, they are brilliant to drive but not reliable. my Renault sport had to be sold as my boss told me i needed to find a dependable way of getting to work, an average of 300 quid every 5 weeks to keep it working is not reliable. but it was incredible fun. hence my mk1 focus rs is now top dog.

James Martin yeah I have a friend who has the 07 st focus with the mountune 290 and a qauiffe diff and that's fast but then he bought a new 14 plate wrx sti and that's stock but only 305

I've had two Renault sports, never let me down. Can't be said for the two German cars I've had :(
I was talking in general, maybe the sports have different running gear but i have several family members that have had these makes of car and have had nothing but trouble and a few have been brand new out of the show room. I have had a vauxhall astra diesel for a few years now and never had a day of trouble.. Yea my dads last car was a Mercedes cls and he had a few issues with that Grear box. Electrics ect so maybe the german cars arent as good as people make out

Maybe it is partly luck of the draw. I bought the astra off my brother who had it for 3 years before me. He bought it with 70k. It has now don 115k,still not a fault. I heard fly wheels are not much cop on vauxhalls but still not a prob. Just my experience with mostly french cars. I Would just never own one. But as they say dont knock it till you try it. Maybe a test drive of the sport is in order
