- I'm explaining how fire alarm systems work for new technicians or other employees who deal with these systems. This is my 15th video in a string of many Khan Academy-styled lessons. This video describes how the most commonly used heat detectors work.
wow wow wow very good explaination Thank u Thank u so much
Hey Joe, I like your videos, good explination and animation. Could you make a video explaining how the wiring of fire detectors work onboard a ship?. How you can loose a resistor in the middle of the system and still the rest of the detectors are working etc
nice I learned a lot! I have a system sensor heat detector 5601P
The fixed temperature heat detectors are one-time use devices. The rate-of-rise detectors are self-restoring, but yes, you have to replace the fixed temperature heat detectors each time they are tripped. Supposedly you can just replace a portion of it, but I've never known that to happen. We always replace the entire device.
Joe Klochan, is fixed temp heat detector one time used only? what if we conduct maintenance and test its functionality, and it really works, does the heat detector already defective? Thanks
since a heat detector has fusible alloy is i like a one time use device that you have to replace after that one time detection?
Very useful video series, I learned lot, Can you please make some video about fire panel programming,
Excellent👍
The thermistor type may come with a smoke detector built in as-well? Or did you mean one for smoke and one for heat (thermistor) for a combination system?
Hi this video would be great as part of a module i am studying on heat detectors, could you possibly send me the documentation as id like to use your pictures to describe each. thanks Tom
Are flame detectors same as heat detectors?
how much need heat or degree to active heat detector
Which one i can use for a little amount of space ? Sorry for my english
John there are too many variables for me to answer that. Is it tied to a fire panel or just for a house?
Flame detectors are not the same as heat detectors. Flame detectors detect the visible portion of the fire. I rarely encounter them so I'd have to do some research before giving you a better explanation of flame detectors, but I know that they can be set off if a lighter is ignited in the line-of-sight of the detector. Heat detectors detect the temperature of a fire rather than the visible characteristic of it.
I can send you the picture but I need an email address.
sir Joe Klochan please send me an wiring diagram in smoke detector and also heat detector in the fire alarm panel..thanks
