Thank you! Just took our pump apart and found a broken rod. Will be heading to the hardware store to see if we can get a brass rod like you did. Hopefully it will work for us too! Thanks for taking the time to post and help others! 😁
You are a lifesaver!!!!! My ceramic rod broke last year and had to spend about $80-$100. Opened the pool up this week and had the same problem but thanks to you my pool is back in business. Plus I bought a 20ft piece of 1/8 brass rod in case it ever happens again. 😎😌
You lady, make my day, really appreciate it, Hi, I fixed the problem, I went to a local hardware store and bought a rod 5/32 ( $2.75 with tax )and just cut it taking the measurements from the original part and is working for the sfx1500 with4 screws in the lid ( not the 1500+ )
Ahh thank you so much. You just saved me like $150. It is so much appreciated. Just thank you so so much for sharing what you learned. It truly does make a difference. Especially when money is tight.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! My pump stopped working and thankfully I found your video. The rd was broken and I was able to go to the hardware store and get a brass replacement for a little over $6! You're amazing!
Worked for me, thanks a bunch! Mine was an older model so a little different setup but same exact concept. Went to the local Ace Hardware, found brass rod for 2 bucks! Mine was also just a tad bigger at 5/32" but its a slightly different pump from the video so just found the one that worked for me. Cut it to length, Boom! Works again! I was about to buy a new pump for 150 bucks, you saved me a ton! Thanks a lot!
Wow exact same problem on various Intex pool pumps from small to large. I used a coathanger and fixed mine. When will these manufacturers learn? You think by now they would have seen enough of this to put in a stronger piece. I'd rather pay an extra $10 on top of the pool / pump price just to know its made with quality parts inside. I think its all a scam to get people to buy all new pumps.
That’s exactly what happened to mine last year. So I took your advice and got a brass rod and it worked for a little while but it also ended up breaking. As for the blades I think you can buy replacement blades for about $20 but I went on ahead and ordered the rotary impeller for $35 because my blades were breaking off too. I think that’s cheaper than buying each individual part. Thanks a bunch, your idea helped...
It will break eventually but it’s a cheap fix I just had a brass one break seems the rods only last about one a season but I keep my filter running constantly
Hey thanks for the video I put the brass rod in about 2 months ago to the proper specifications and everything worked fine once I did it but yeah a couple days ago it started making noise again and I took it apart again and the brass rod was in pieces itself also well unless you have any answers or had the problem happen again with the brass rod I guess I'll head back to the hardware store and this time cut out some size pieces and put them away for a later day let's try this again
I have so far tried steel , brass , and titanium alloy . They all end up eroded and consumed by rust , and end up blocking the pump . I still need to try another type of brass , plastic, and another titanium grade 5 maybe . If none work I ll bypass this pump and install an external one ...
Thank you! I Googled why my pump won't turn on after unplugging it. After watching the other gal's video, I'm betting my pin broke. Came here hoping for a better solution than a coat hanger.
Wasn't a broken pin. Something with the buttons or plug. Smacked it around a bit on my palm and got it going again. Still good to know about the pin, I wouldn't have had a clue!
I wish I could show a picture but I took a pool floaty that no longer stayed inflated and cut the sides apart and used that over the hole and just screwed the threaded part on over it so it was basically a big patch for the pump area while I fixed the pump. I did the same for the hole to push the water back into the pool. Worked great
Is there any kind of gasket that goes on the bottom of the pump on that big ring you screw on...Ours started leaking whether the pump is running or not.
Not on mine. It just has the motor and the the ring fitting that twists on the bottom. It has to be really snug. I just went outside and mine was leaking. I gave a little twist and it stopped.
I tried to do this. And it didn’t work for me! There’s one little piece that I can figure out where it goes. Can I have your email ??? I can’t find it ??? So I can show you 🙏
I open my motor up and and plastic piece not broken. Reason why I took it apart rattling and it had a reverse flow?!?! Any ideas?? Trying to get the kids back in
It is worth a try. I am only using this a temp fix to get through the Summer. I plan to convert to a intex sand pump really soon and will post a video of the conversion.

@@meligcountrylivin we ended up buying the brass rod, and still had an issue with the motor spinning. We have to use multipurpose oil to essentially lube up the magnet to get it to spin, otherwise it just sticks to one side and won't rotate. I try to keep the pump going but sometimes have to unplug it because of the rain, and every time it won't rotate so we have to drain the pump, disassemble and oil to magnet again. Pain In the butt but its our only solution. I'll never buy a summer waves pool again!
Can I take out the motor from the top? Although the pool is filled?! Just got my pool two weeks ago but today my motor sounds way more silent and like it's not working properly. I want to avoid having the pool spilling out. Please... advise so I can check if that rod is broken. Help!
I don’t think you can but if you plug both intake and out take, you can hold the intake plug while draining the tank then twist off the bottom. I have a video about vacuuming that explains how I remove the motor to clean.
Yes you can take that out with out taking the motor out the bottom I used needle nosed pliers to grab the impeller out because that magnet is strong! Just twist a little and pull
Cut it to length be very aware of the two white round Teflon washers one on the bottom and one on the top of the impeller can easily be dropped and lost
I took a styrofoam paper plate and held it against the skimmer on the inside of the pool and unscrewed the hose where the water goes back into the pool. It didn’t leak at all, it fit perfect fit. I think the pressure of the water held the plate in place.
My pump quit coming on at all, doesn't even make a humming noise when plugged in. Do you think this is my issue or is my plug no good. We bought the pool in April and the pump quit working a few months later.
My pump quit working because of the impeller rod and just kept messing up after that. I ended up converting to the intex sand filter pump then upgraded to a whole new intex pool this year. Summer Waves just doesn't last long and everyone ends up with the same problems. You could pay lots of money to replace parts and the pump, or just buy a better pool, like me.
Has anyone found a remedy for broken impeller blades part of the motor. My pin broke and I assume once the pin broke it made the magnet unbalanced and all the blades are broken off so it doesn’t push water now
My solution was to convert to the intex sand filter pump last year then a new intex pool this year. I was tired of buying parts and did not feel like dealing with it this year at all!
basically this pump sucks.. I've had trouble with mine for 2 years. I've had the pool for 3.. even the brass ones wear down and eventually will break.. my husband had to make a new one once or twice a week throughout last summer
Your absolutely right. I’ve had 2 of them and I’ll never buy another one. I just replaced the rotary impeller and it’s running but not as fast as it should be running. I don’t expect it to last the whole summer...POS..
Oh NO!!! Did you try resetting it from the plug? You may need to call Summer Waves. That is such a pain! I upgraded with a new Intex pool this year. I threw the Summer Waves pool in the trash.

@@meligcountrylivin We tried that and it didn't matter. Im going to try some clear silicone where the motor seats. Will let you know. Thx
That’s what I did, I put lots of silicone between the pool and the pump and it worked for a while...
Has anyone changed over and kept their SFS 1000 rotor impellar parts?
Does your water leak where the water pump is at I get a tiny leak
It ended up leaking and I had to use plumbers tape.

What's the exact length? 3" was too short for mine.
90mm long 3.5mm diam

Yes, it was completely full. I show how I plug the pool to ensure it does not leak in my vacuuming and my answering comments video.
