The delay also happened to me when I travelled from Paris to London, this man had a German passport and was held at the border after 2 hours he was left there and his family came with us he eventually made it through and caught with the next coach, it affected everyone as I got home at 3am (supposed to arrive at 8pm)
Eish, that's late. We made the next ferry 90 minutes later, and traffic in south London meant we arrived at 7pm rather than 5pm. Lucky too as another coach had broken down in the arrival area, after us it was closed for the recovery truck to remove it - there was a massive queue of arriving coaches outside in the road!

I did Paris to London with Flixbus a few years ago and we went through the tunnel. No issues at the border whatsoever.

I think it took about six hours... Very comfortable but long journey... We had a traffic incident in South London on the return leg.
My journey was quite a bit longer, due to border delays, but I was very impressed with the seat comfort and legroom 👍

It has to be done, at least once! Surprisingly comfortable, the main disadvantages being outside the bus company's control.

No idea why the British Boarder Control, Bother to stop anyone, they need to relocate to all the beaches on the British coasts.

Why are Irish Ferries allowed to sail between Dover and Calais?
It's a free market. Other ferry operators are P&O (UK) and DFDS (Denmark) on the Dover to Calais route.
And it will increase competition and hopefully keep prices low
