I like this channel as when I was young, this channel brought me a lot of joy as I used to watch Power Rangers from this channel. My childhood then was fun thanks to this channel. :')
15 years later and I still prefer Ch I over ch 5... the most memorable series I watched were Higher Ground (Hayden Christensen and AJ Cook were on it), Laverne and Shirley, and the movie Virtual Mom! I was only 10 year old!!! They aired some of the best English shows from US and Canada. Ch 5 can just go dig its grave.
The second time of the chorus of our this year's NDP theme song 'Here's to You Singapore' reminded me of our old SPH Mediaworks Channel i's weather forecast music for the song 'Everything I Am' sung by our fellow Singaporean singer Nathan Hartono.
Channel i was now on its own as Channel U got bought by MediaCorp, and thus resulting in Channel i to be on its own, it’s sad to see it go after 4 years.
Now since the death of SPH Mediaworks Channel i, it has since been relaunched as Okto Channel (Singapore's second English-language tv station) that has Kids Central in the ok-tots timeslot at daytime and Arts Central on Arts on Okto (or A-OK) timeslot at evening time. hi, sorry to be a beggar but would anyone happen to have footage of magical doremi airing on this channel? there is no known footage of it on the internet. a separate dub was made for the channel but the only english footage of the show is from the 4kids dub which did not air on channel i. any footage would be a breakthrough! thank you

Instead it was owned by SPH Mediaworks, an independent press agency in Singapore. It's up to date programming as well as interesting shows has attracted many Singaporeans to watch Channel I more often than the channels offered by Mediacorp. As days goes by, SPH is unable to manage two TV channels (the 2nd one is Channel U, an alternative Chinese channel) due to budget constraints and that has caused them to gave up those two channels to Mediacorp in 2005 and completely ceased operations on TV by that year. Later they went on to continue their roles as independent radio broadcasters in Singapore. 3 years later in 2008, it relaunched as Okto after the merger of Channel I as well as Arts and Kids Central, two different channels that were targeted at children and grown ups alike. And in 2017, the Arts programming has been moved entirely to Channel 5, 8, U, Vasantham and Suria as seperate programmes for the Malay, Chinese and Indian races in Singapore. The slot for the Arts programme is then taken over by OktoSports. While Channel I isn't intended to be international, their broadcast could be picked up as terrestrial overspill in certain parts of neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia. (For instance, my place in Johore could receive it very clear using a high antenna)

ch U and ch I really make mediacorp wake up their bloody idea! Free TV with more up to date shows and varieties because of SPH mediawork! but sad to say, all comes to an end. i actually abandon Mediacorp and only watched Ch U and Ch I. but once they merged, i stop watching TV again.
