Why do we want income to be equal ? This seems like a ridiculous idea. The thing we should be addressing is how to get the median income high . Raising standard of living should be the debate. There will always be a pocket of rich people in the country and that is not necessarily bad.

We are not arguing for equal income, but for equal opportunities for the poor. Do you realize how wealth inequality can have negative consequences for the society and the economy? For example, it can lead to:
      - Less growth and innovation: When people have less money to spend, consume, invest, and create, the economy suffers. It also becomes harder for the poor to access education and develop skills that are needed for innovation.
      - More social and health problems: When people feel less connected, trusted, and valued by the society, they may resort to crime, violence, or substance abuse. They may also face more health issues due to lack of quality health care, nutrition, and sanitation. They may also be exposed to more environmental and occupational risks.
      - Weaker democracy and political stability: When the wealthy have more power and influence over the political system and policies, they may use it to benefit themselves at the expense of the public interest. This can result in corruption, rent-seeking, and elite capture. It can also reduce the accountability and responsiveness of the government to the people's needs and demands. It can also spark social unrest and political conflict.
