Need one of these with JB again watching his win in Canada 2011 now that would be a decent watch
Perhaps a bit long. But if edited to remove the red flag period, it would be a great one.
Yes, absolutely!
@@kdaleboley except for the bird watching part
I would prefer Jenson to do this with the 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix where he clinched his World Championship title.
@@julianruther4550/videos Let's have both. We have enough time for many of these.
Jenson will go down as one of the most beloved champions of the 2000s. Amazing, amazing driver!!
Agree, he might not have been the fastest raw speed wise but he was exeptional at nursing his tires and getting the most out of them.
Being a very nice bloke doesn't hurt either.
I loved Jenson and was cheering when he won the WDC in 2009.
One of the only guys who was able to beat Hamilton in overall points when on the same team
@@TheAzuncazunc didnt have to try and take him out either.
pure class.
Who?
@@TheAzuncazunc Not gonna lie people always bring that up like it's an astonishing stat but it really boiled down to Lewis's disaster season in 2011, the worst of his career, and then in 2012 he had *5 DNF's* (a few while leading, but still beat Button in the standings) So if you do the math, if Lewis hadn't lost his engine while leading at Singapore, he would've beat Button by 10 points for example.
They did a stats adjusted tally and it was 841-725 in favor of Lewis. I like Jenson a lot, hes a top man, top driver, but I feel like this point is really weak.
Please sky, just send these guys a USB microphone to use. We all know you are not short of cash
Painful
yeah constantly adjusting my volume to not piss my housemates off was getting annoying, content kept me watching though
Couldn't agree more. It's honestly the easiest piece of piss to sort out. If any kid with a CZcams account can get their audio sorted then this is just plain laziness from Sky.
why does the fact that the microphone is connected by USB make any difference.
Billy Gray easier to set up for people who don’t know what they are doing when it comes to microphones.
Even having won a world championship I’ve always felt Jenson is one of the if not the most underrated drivers. He’s had some amazing races and some beautiful overtakes. He doesn’t get enough credit IMO
I'm so glad that Jenson finally won the world championship in 2009. It was an amazing year and car in 2009.
I'm a fan of Sebastian Vettel and I can not agree more even if he didn't win it all in 2009. I love the whole Brawn GP cinderella story of 2009 and I love the fact that Jenson Button, one of the finest sportsmen in F1 history, went down in history as a Formula One World Champion. The titles of Jenson and later Nico Rosberg were so satisfying to watch and to witness because you were seeing there two careers, two long careers full of accomplishments without the biggest prize of them all. And to witness Jenson Button in 2009 and later Nico Rosberg in 2016 rewarding themselves for their performances in their respective careers, great careers, that were not always easy at all with finally crowning themselves Formula One World Champion were moments I still love to remember even today.
So am I, Jesnon was a very deserving champion and worked hard to get to where he was, but as a Brazilian I'd have loved for Rubens to have won it :(
I wish he had won it in this car or in the 2004 car, or else in the 2011 McLaren.
one of my favorite commentary moments, "HE'S DONE IT! JENSON BUTTON WINS, THE HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX"
GET IN THERE
MORE like this please. As great as F1 are in showing old races, it would be so much better if we can have insight from those (not necessarily the drivers) involved.
I was just thinking exactly the same :). This is so much better than just the F1 CLSSICS that F1 is doing at the moment
Yes, getting Andrew Shovlin involved was a great idea
Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso are the purest racers I've seen in my life. They never had the best cars but could take the best out of the car like no other. Schumacher might be the GOAT and Hamilton is like the Lebron James of the F1, but Button and Alonso are like Cruijff or Maradona they were just amazing to look at in a car.
Jim Clark was the GOAT.
@@andyelliott8027, interesting opinion, not one you hear often
@@amroge8703 Most people concentrate on more recent times, Jim could win in any type of car. He would have won what is now the British Rally but for trouble near the end. He won what is now the BTCC ( British Touring Car Championship). He went to the Indy 500 and won that, (it was nearly twice in sucession) setting a new lap record in qualifying. He lost a lap with a flat tyre in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, made up the lost lap and took the lead only to run out of fuel on the last lap and coast across the line in 3rd place ( the Italian crowd gave him a standing ovation when he got out of the car). He won the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa in the wet by nearly 5 minutes from the second placed driver having lapped everybody up to 3rd place on a lap of 15 km ( 9.3 miles.) No other F1 driver has come close to those achievements.
@@andyelliott8027 personally, I think Schumi or Aryton, but Jim Clark is very high up in my top 10
@@amroge8703 From people who know about F1, it's history and it's drivers throughout that history a good percentage will have Jim Clark at number 1, likewise with Juan Manuel Fangio. These guys performed feats that are unimaginable to today's drivers who are more worried about being safe and staying alive to enjoy their money. Virtually none of today's drivers, great though their skill is, are willing to take real risks. If you want a safe job don't be a racing driver.
Its actually so cool to have 3 people to watch along, who were involved in this race. Good video! ☺️👌
I always loved that Button knocked Heidfelds cap off when the national anthem was playing. Always found it amusing.
That was disrespectful. Hated that. Just like Massa spitting on Lewis at Indy 2007.
Ciaron Smith I guess Heidfeld just forgot that you’re not supposed to wear the cap during the national anthems to show respect. Massa spitting on Hamilton was miles worse I think.
@@Ben_Mayall That's not any of Jenson's business. Button needs to control his emotions. Keep your hands to yourself, would be my thoughts if I were Heidfeld. Especially since Jenson fluked into this win.
Ciaron Smith true. I thought he did it as a joke to be honest going off of his facial expressions. They were friendly with each other so I don’t think there was any wrong doing there.
Ciaron Smith get a load of this guy
I remember James Allen said something to the effect of “they said he might never win, but today he wins the Hungarian Grand Prix” in his iconic enthusiastically loud voice.
The first F1 race I went to, with my father. What a race it was! 14 years ago, I was 14 years old. Nice to relive it with some people involved.
This race proved how underrated and undervalued Pedro de la Rosa actually was. Pity he never got the opportunities he deserved.
He was a pretty good driver, Kimi wasn't that much quicker than him at McLaren.
Pedro in the MacLean had a super drive that day aswell.🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
23:36 This is incorrect. Kubica's car was underweight because a fire extinguisher had gone off and emptied out during the race and therefore the car had lost weight.
@TGSUPERCHARGED You sound like a troll, kthxbye
@TGSUPERCHARGED I always use language children can understand and relate to when speaking to them, as a courtesy.
@Jack Black tbf you called him ''son'' smells a bit noncey to me
Underrated driver, probably the most intelligent of the last 20 years. Just look the way how he won this race and some other (for instance Melbourne 2010, Montreal 2011 and Interlagos 2012).
i always thought that Jenson was the vocalist of coldplay
Yes, one always reminds of the other! haha.
Chris Martin🤣I can’t I see this now
Thank you for this guys! One of the best racing memories I have was this race, from when I was a teenager even! Great experience watching it with a hearty chat and a pint in my hand. I look very much forward to the next one!
Bloody great idea! LOVE this!
JB's such a great bloke!
We need more of these, please!
Jenson was class. He had one chance to win the WDC and he nailed it 6/7 wins at the start and held it together for the rest of the year, then went to McLaren and outscored Hamilton over 3 years (even though Hamilton was probably slightly better but then he was at the team for far longer). Could easily have won more with the right machinery.
Suzuka 1988 version of this with Prost and Ron Dennis
This was brilliant. Jenson was my hero before he won, I always had my fingers crossed for him although I'm not british or anything. This day I was 16 and it was like a dream come true, still remember the feeling but I didn't remember how the race unfolded. It was very nice to watch it again with you guys! Thanks!
A really memorable race, and thank you for the watchalong format. Little Ant's celebration was class, it was a race win for him too; he picked the tyres! :oP
Button, de la Rosa and Heidfeld!! 😍😍
Uncommon podium
Alonso was insane this race, just insane!
Overrated troublemaker.
@@Jabber-ig3iw Overrated troublemaker, Michael the Shoemaker
P16 to P5 in 1 lap! Insane!
@@rumblefish9 if it was Lewis, it would be DA GREATEST DRIVE EVA!!!
They should have named him Benson Jutton.
I’m loving these watch along races! Keeps them coming sky! 😃
great CZcams channel for re-airing these classic races. post more please!
Wonderful replay - thanks all!!
These watch along videos are amazing please try to make some more of these.
Remember watching this at the time was so pleased for Jenson.
What a brilliant idea for a video! Great work Sky!
I like this format. Nice insights and fun to look back with this commentary.
"They said he might never win, but today he wins the Hungarian GP. He's there! Jenson Button, wins the Hungarian GP, get in there!" ~ remarkable quote 😌
I was 14 when this happened and had been a button fan since I began watching F1. This was a sweet one!!
Top class stuff from the SkyF1 team, loved it!
this was great, need more of these
What a great concept really enjoyed watching that.
I missed most of this race the first time around! It was emotional. Glad to watch it
Great choice for a "rewind" race, and absolutely terrific to have the guys commenting along with it. More of these, please!
P.S. "Crazy-eyes" Jenson is best Jenson!
this was awesome, thank you!
I love the fact that Alonso had one of the best opening laps in F1 history and nobody cared here lol
1) the live international FOM tv direction didn't know who to look at.. so they focused on nothing at all
2) crofty is just "oh and alonso through the field yawn"
Alonso went from P16 to P5 in 1 lap!
One of my favourite races of all in what was the modern era. Also my favourite driver.
It was like sitting in a cinema watching this with you guys, Ant munching crisps and Crofty giving away the Ending. Enjoyed it though.
Ah yeah man how cool
This is a brilliant type of show
Raikkonen was on a 2 stop.
DeLaRosa was on a 3 stop.
Kimi was comfortably faster given this, but was going to let DeLaRosa through so his race wasn't ruined.
When Kimi looked in his mirrors, he didn't catch Liuzzi slowing down. So they crashed.
This is like a Director's Commentary, this is awesome! Definitely bookmarked for later. 👍
Jenson Button always one of my favorite drivers so smooth. I remember watching this I was yelling out loud I was worried the Honda would blow up until the line lol
My favourite RACE even though Alonso retired, but at least De la Rosa was second:) 🇪🇸
More of these please!
Button is so right the 2006 cars looked so good.
Croft still with his Ben Edwards' quote in the background.
@Johnon " lights out and away we go." This was and is Ben Edwards' start catchphrase. I have no problem with Croft saying it, but then promoting it as his own leaves a distinct sour taste.
Crofty is up his own backside 💩
This is really good. I hope they do more, next being Canada 2011 👌🏼
Jensons The best, his book is amazing too
My dads first Gp, he said it was an incredible memory
55:52 Andrew Showlin's voice is just like James Allison's.
MARTIN BRUNDLE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ?!
Winner of BMW Championship. Gave Senna a run for his money in F3 with the championship going to the last race. Winner of Grovewood Award. Drove for Tyrell, Zakspeed, Brabham, Benetton, Ligier, McLaren and Aguri Suzuki and Jordon. Broke both ankles and came close to losing his left foot. Scored 98 F1 championship points and 9 podiums. Also had an impressive career in sports cars before becoming a consummate and knowledgable broadcaster, for which he has received numerous awards. So a pretty respectable career....what have you achieved Jamal?
@@iandickens2408 r/swoosh?
I think you missed what's going on Ian
Ian Dickens what are you on about? you obviously havnt seen ITV’s coverage of Anthony Davidson commentating on this race as you would understand my comment.
My bad. Watched it (memorable race) and I now see the reference.....Keep safe.
that's basically unique content and full replay of a cool race with such a copany. This is extremely underrated in terms of popularity. Try to hire some media managers, it will pay off.
Being a massive fan of Jenson Button, I could not have asked for a more enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Plus we got Andrew Shovelin, Anthony Davidson & Crofty to join with JB while he recounted his memories of his all important first F1 win at the Hungary 2006 F1 race. The most iconic race win of JB's has got to be the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. That was an incredibly epic race and JB put on clinic that day.
I can only hope that JB will get my little message here: JB, please write another book! I've read them all, but my absolute favorite I managed to get a signed copy of is: "How To Be an F1 Driver". It's because of that book that I bought a pair of Duke & Dexter trainers just like JB wears on the cover. Many thanks for a brilliant F1 career Mr. Button, that made both myself and my wife have enjoyed immensely. Your career in F1 reminds me of the days of the Gentleman Racers, such as Jim Clark, that JB reminds me of all the time. JB's a British driver that embodies the spirit of Clark & Sir John Surtees. I bring up Sir John Surtees because I got to spend some time with Sir John and we discussed JB's racing and the absolute class that JB carries himself with, that even Sir John said reminded him of Jim Clark. You have to admit that when Sir John Surtees says that a modern F1 driver reminds him of the late great Jim Clark, Sir John should know.
Love how Jenson knocks Heidfeld’s cap off his head as the British National Anthem is starting - on the podium at 1.25.50 ! What a super cool 😎 dude and former World Champion he is !! Loved this watchalong - was great fun to see - and Jenson’s maiden F1 victory ! Took a while to attain - but I knew - once he started winning - he’d probably keep winning till he won a World 🌍 Championship - and that’s precisely what happened ! Lol. Cheers 🍻. Rx
Also a great Honda win! Let's go Honda! We also love you JB!
JENSON BUTTON!!!! WINNNSSSSS!!!!
I'm Jon and my son is called Jenson - It's great to watch this
Nice guys...more please :)
Just like on that day Hungary 2006 i sooo badly wished Martin Brundle to live commentate on Buttons first win , but even now 14 years later we still do not get Brundle on this episode to give his views and maybe a live race win commentary from him to recreate that moment he missed !
Button, De La Rosa and Heidfeld podium finish.
A real million to one bet at the start of the race.
Great grand prix racing 🏎 👏
1:26:30 who is cutting the damn onions...
I'm not crying....
proud papa
Great stuff
Jenson Button a real sportsman and Englishman.
Alonso and Msc were unlucky
No hate hahahaha
JB was a great F1 driver
Great stuff this! Can't wait for Daniel Riccardo's first win watch a long! I missed though more input for Jenson and his engineer. They are not used in commentating so should have been pulled in somewhat more into the commentating.
what a f*****g legend JB was and is!
One of my favourite things about this race is that in late July of 2006, Jenson appeared on Top Gear and they addressed his rather unfortunate statistic of 112 race starts and 0 wins.
When asked, Jenson said he would trade in every single aspect of the wealth and lifestyle that comes with being an F1 driver in a heartbeat just to get that first Grand Prix win under his belt.
A week later, he and the rest of the F1 circus gathered in Budapest for that year’s Hungarian GP, and the stars finally aligned for him.
Nice Upload
Alonso on 🔥
This was fantastic.
Wonderful.
We need the fastest lap classification graphic back!
Jenson was on top gear that week and I was at the filming of it. When he was introduced, he brushed my right shoulder walking out. I thought it was cool! 😁 Also Ray Winston, the actor! Was a good episode!
Wow did he touch you? How easy are you to excite? Lol get over yourself.
NulJern you seem jealous!
OMG Damon nearly won in Hungary 1997 in the Arrows, was part of that team. Watching Jenson win there in 2006 working for the Team was the best, and scariest last 10 laps I've ever watched!
Best moment ever in my F1 career :-) Thanks Jenson
I have to say, Jenson, your father was a fantastic man :-) I was only able to visit a few races but your great Dad remembered me every time :-) I met Jonny Rotten thanks to your Dad mate :-) Brilliant bloke, and thank you Jenson for your great performances :-)
This is just like the last gp with Sergio Perez’s first win
Sir Jenson!
The power of dreams
Whaat?!
That BAR was so crazy beautiful car.
Honda*
Honda
Please please do one of these for the 2005 USA F1 GP
That one should be done "MST3000-style."
Not a bad race..... for Hungary. Looking at the grid and thinking that Kimi and Sato are still racing is wild, kings of motorsport.
Thatbwas pure big achievment with hardest fight in awful conditions.
Fantastic! There's great races from 2012 Jenson should do too just as commentary if nothing else. Your audio is such crap but the concept is so good i watched the whole thing.
JB is still my favorite driver !!!!!!!!
@24:04
JB is awesome 😂
24:15 @skysportsf1 please ask Crofty what Nico's official excuse was.
Quite. I think they said something very interesting about "Britney" that will embarass the poor man, and knowing he doesn't have a sense of humour and is on their team, they had to cut it.
In 2006 Bridgestone rain-tyres were very bad, so then I was not happy it was wet race as a Ferrari fan.
It would be awesome to see their reaction of the 2007 European GP
Sky would never review an Alonso victory.
I couldn't help but notice that Schumacher blips his throttle on downshifts.....
I noticed that as well, is he manually blipping the throttle which seems like quite an old school thing? I can't remember but suspect they would have had autoblip by then.
I guess they had. De la Rosa is not blipping. Maybe a driving habbit of Schumacher? I will do some research on this....
@@diede2308 I just checked a lap from MSC in '04 and the throttles blipping there, whilst other cars don't appear to be doing so in 2006, and MSC isn't (blipping) in the Merc in 2011.
Seeing the differences in braking was one of the most interesting things for me, it's a shame a few years back they stopped showing brake pressure, the graphic seems to be on/off now :(
Do this again for the 2011 Canadian GP! : D
Can you do the video of Jenson's great win in Canada 2011 please!.....
I used love that BAR team.
This is GREAT TV!
What I want to know is: was the windscreen changed for this race?
Jeremy Clarkson had suggested the week previous that that was the reason they hadn't won anything...
I was named after him and he won that 4 days after I was born
