Sony A7s III APSC Mode and Clear Image Zoom

  • The Sony A7s III can only use APSC mode in 1080p but you can use clear image zoom in 4k up to 60 fps to film with apsc lenses like the Sirui 50mm anamorphic or 35mm anamorphic. The great thing about using clear image zoom on the A7sIII is that you can use most APSC lenses or get zoom in just a little bit farther with very little quality loss. I compare clear image zoom with cropping and zooming in in post to show you how to get the most out of your Sony A7sIII and apsc lenses.

    Hi Jake, what an awesome video. I am a bit of a tech dummy so I'd appreciate any advice on my specific ambitions. If I have an A7s111 paired with a 200-600mm Sony F5.6, what are my options for maximum zoom? I assume that I can use the crop sensor mode and increase the zoom by a factor of 1.5. Can I also use the clear image zoom as an additional method of getting closer to my subject? Sorry if I've missed something and any advice is super appreciated. Cheers and greetings from Australia.

    Hey Jake, Awesome Video. I already have the two anamorphic Sirui lenses and will buy the A7S3 soon. Let's say you would make a project with the Sirui Anamorphic lenses and opt for the crop in post option. Appearantly the CIZ feature does not give a quality advantage and the post cropping gives more flexibility. Would u make a 2160p or 1440p youtube upload?

    • @JakeSloan

      @mikesteck1310 Před 3 lety +2

      *UPDATE So if you get this lens and the Sony E mount adaptor, some things to know. to avoid frustrations and questions. (1) On the adaptor box is a picture of a Sony A camera body. In putting the adaptor on the Lens, you will see bright red dots to align. Or so you would think. Nope. Don't do it, the lens wont go on the camera. Rather, rotate the adaptor ring around on the lens until it finds its resting place, do not worry about aligning dots. I know i am sleep deprived, so this plays into the confusion, but seeing the Sony A body on the adaptor box, aligning the red dots and then the lens not fitting on the camera cause a rabbit trail of efforts. May my crooked path help make yours straight.

    I have an opportunity to buy that very same lens you were using in a micro 4/3 format but I'm shooting with a Sony vg10 camcorder. I see that there's adapters available for micro 4/3 to e mount but would it still work on my vg10 camcorder? I realize the vg10 is slightly outdated and it's not nearly as new as your a7s3 is but I still love to shoot with it and the main reason I purchased it was because of the interchangeable lens system. I didn't want to be tied down to just one lens. I'm not even sure my vg10 has clear image zoom on it. I have updated the software to the version 3.0 through the firmware update and I really want to use the anamorphic lens on there I found one on eBay for just over $500 but it's micro four thirds mount. I am slightly apprehensive to purchase it not knowing whether or not it would work with my Sony vg10. Thank you happy shooting and I really enjoy your videos

(crop in just a tiny bit in post to get rid of the remaining vignetting) or use Clear Image Zoom 1.1x together with Active Stabilization. • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  Před 7 měsíci

      this happens regardless of melting, glaciers constantly flow downhill and ice will fall off the toe into water like this because the toe has nothing to support it

    • @thefourthperspective
      @thefourthperspective Před 7 měsíci

      Yes this happens every summer, of course! But I'm more referring to the glaciers as a whole, come back to this spot 5 years from now and it will be much receded @@JakeSloan

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  Před 2 lety

      we all should do our part to take care of the planet however glaciers do this (calve) regardless because they are literally rivers of ice flowing downhill so as they flow they push off the ice at the toe
