Love you!!
Sabina - Hudba
I love how you write your thoughts down instead of interrupting the song! I'll never get tired of this performance. Chris and his wife Morgane are a perfect duo.
Amen!
Possibly the most talented dude in Nashville...spend some time with him, and his wife, you won't be disappointed...
I trust you on that. Love that he is making music with his wife - that explains the chemistry
@@sabina1118 His writing credentials are insane. You should look up the songs that he's writen for other artist.
He's one of very few who actually sound better live than in a studio recording.
Actually Dean Dillion and Linda Hargrove wrote this song. Several people have performed it over the last 35 years or so, but I think Chris absolutely owns this song now and it will be the version that everyone remembers.
I came here to say this Chris KILLED it but he didn't write it....
I get the feeling that Chris and Morgane are not only singing this to each other but about each other!
He is ALWAYS better live than in the studio. I think itâs because heâs just so free flowing and improvised that the studio actually limits his talent. Check out Cold live at the CMAs and his performance with Justin Timberlake at the CMAs too. Please and thank you bunches đ€đ€
Noted, thanks đ€

"Tennessee Whiskey" was written in 1981 by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. The pair decided to write a song together after meeting each other at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. He had an idea for it for some time and they went back to Hargrove's house to write the song at four o'clock in the morning. If you listen to any of the first recordings of this song by any other artist you'll be shocked because they sound NOTHING like Chris's version which, by the way, some say he borrowed heavily from an old Etta James blues song called "I'd Rather Go Blind" for his melodic changes and arrangement.
Didn't D.A.Coe do the original. Not taking anything away from Chris. Just look up the songs that he has written for other artist that became hits.
You need to watch him perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl
Wow, found a reactor that hates interruptions. Love how you do your reactions. Others could learn from your style.
1:26
Yeah, this is the best performance of the song, maybe itâs to do with him singing it to his wife!
Your reaction to it was predictable, Iâm a fella and it gives me goosebumps đ!
Aww it's his wife?? That SO freaking sweet
@@sabina1118 His wife is also a songwriter and a great support to Chris Stapleton.
@@sabina1118 he usually is looking for her eyecontact cause he has a little stage fright
The entire set he did was amazing - Check out "I WAS WRONG"
He was a song writer and wrote several hits sung by other artists. It was his wife Morgane that convinced him to perform. There is a HUGE LIST of amazing songs.
I Was Wrong - Soul & Blues - Amazing!
Cold - Soul - Cuts to the core
Parachute - Rock/Country
Fire Away - Watch the music video - this will gut you its so emotional
Broken Halos - Rock/Country
Nobody to Blame - Blues
What Are You Listening To - Live acoustic
More of You - Live - Acoustic - You will SEE the love between them
Fool Me Again - Very old, I think this is when people figured out he can sing. Song writers cruise, he & another guy wrote this the day before they performed it. Chris's voice = pure power
But there's more! The dude is a major collaborator
Tennessee Whisky/Fool Me Again - CMA Awards with Justin Timberlake (THIS PERFORMANCE LAUNCHED CHRIS)
Love Me Anyway - with Pink
Sweet Symphony - with Joy Oladokun - This was released a few months ago - very nice duet
Maggie's Song - with Miranda Lambert - if you have pets, you will cry
You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive - CMA Awards with Patty Loveless - Amazing performance
And this is the tip of the iceberg - Wanna blow your mind?
His wife Morgane can sing and not just background harmonies
You Are My Sunshine - Chris & Morgane Stapleton - Chris has "You Are My Sunshine" engraved on his wedding ring
Amanda - Grand Ole Opry - This is bluegrass and when she hits those notes, I guarantee you will smile
Chris & Wife are fantastic together. FYI - I've been watching your reactions for several years. This is Top Level!
My girl...yes...Sabina Sabina Sabina! Thank you for finally getting to Chris Stapleton! Now let me watch ur reaction. And yes LIVE Chris is better than studio. Perfect. Mark
You should check out his performance of the American national anthem at the Super Bowl last night. Everyone had tears. And it wasnât because of the song đ€
I will đ
@@sabina1118 Always love your reactions and they way you do them. We still get to know your thoughts, but also just experience your uninterrupted experience đ€
Sometimes I Cry live at the Bing Lounge is incredible.
Sometimes I cry when I listen to Sometimes I cry
Here in the U.K., we are fed very little in the way of Country style music. For me, this has a flavour of the great Bob seger..one of my favourite US male singers. As for this gent, you can almost taste the Tennessee whisky such is the beautiful atmosphere this song generates. A new artist for me and what a great introduction to his style. Sabina..I loved the laid back style you demonstrated. Great song and reaction.
Glad you liked it, Chris!! Country style music is not very popular in Denmark, so I was also new to Mr. Stapleton. Great intro!!
dude you just scared the heck out of me........ bobs still alive !
@@j0k3rday âŠI was under the impression he had died. Looking into this in more detail, he is very much alive. Seems I took some notice of what was an obvious hoax doing the rounds in the past. Thank you for correcting me, Iâll change my post.đ
Sorry Chris, but this is'nt a country song. This is a direct reworking of "I'd rather go blind" by Etta James from 1967! The only thing different is the lyric. The melody, tempo, instruments, arrangement, production, and overall feel, are all a carbon copy of the original SOUL classic.

lovely reaction Sabina. thank you
I like your comments in text like this. A couple of other reactors are doing the same.
Me - I am jumping from one Chris Stapleton Reaction video to the next - He has a ton of excellent work, but always go for the LIVE versions. He is one of the best live performers out there today.
He is dressed like Country, has the hair for Rock & Roll and the voice of Soul.
That woman is his wife. Well done Sabina. This is the music we listen to on a pontoon boat in rural Alabama. Us country folk have our own culture and music. It's a lot of fun.
Love this too
I Love the way you chose to do your reactions by not stopping the song , but to write below , and then commentating after đ, the BEST đčđđ»âïž GOD BLESS . Also Love when you do AJ songs . Thank you .
I LOVE the way you do this with no interruptions, thank you đđđ»
The first time I heard him, I was reminded of that Robbie Burns poem, For a' That and a' That. Burns' point is that we cannot judge a man by his outward appearance and form; the qualities of the inner self, individual talent, intellectual integrity, and morality are the most essential. Stapleton looked like a cross between a cowboy and a country picker, so I expected something less than what I heard. Yes, I did hear a bit of Merle Haggard and Keith Whitley, but I also got Ray Chares, BB King, and Sam Cooke as well. Add the gospel/Mowtown as well as the Southern Rock and bluegrass/hillbilly influences and the meticulous attention to the form of the songs and their arrangements and we got something that is very special and different.
There is a clip where his wife is being interviewed about Chris's song, Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore, which he supposedly wrote while waiting for her to change before going out. I think that Morgana was a bit pissed about the implications of women always making their husbands wait and taking too much time trying to make themselves look just a bit better, so she set the interviewer straight when he said that Chris wrote so quickly. She said that he never really wrote the song. Great artists have a lot floating within them that they are regularly playing with, so Chris just pulled the song out of the pile of material that is in his head. (Think of Michaelangelo talking about the statue being in the stone; he just drew it out, and you get the idea.) Chris is one of the great writers of American music, but he is still just getting started on that front. In a way, he reminds me of Hank Williams, who always had a lot of stuff floating around in his head and was very prolific.
I love the talent. The man is remarkable and deserves the good things that have come his way. He certainly picked his wife well. She is also a very good writer on her own and fits the band perfectly because everyone, including Chris, knows to do as little as possible when required and let the beauty of the performances shine through.
You must see his rendition of the National Anthem from the Superbowl, OMG.
You need to do a reaction video of Chris singing the National Anthem!!..đ
Your method of reaction is wonderful. Subscribed!!!
Thanks and welcome!! â€ïž
Your style of reacting is the bEST! We get to see it all on your face, and read your thoughts at the same time! More Chris Stapleton live!! You will enjoy it as much as we do!

Wow this is good. Amazing live performance. And the lyrics hit hard, what I get, is that he was falling into a dark alcohol addiction but his wife saved him from that and he's saying that his wife is better than the alcohol. Damn Deep! From the soul for sure.
I am saddened because I can only "like" this once.
Not my 1st time hearing this one but the 1st time I heard his voice, his song "Starting Over" was playing over the credits to Channing Tatum's movie, "Dog." I just had to find out whose voice that was! BTW if you watch the video for that one, you do get a peek behind the scenes of them recording. The only other song that you should listen to the studio version of is "Death Row". The atmosphere created on that is chilling.
Actually the original version is by David Allen Cole in 1981 and George Jones had a hit with it in 1983.
Really!! I thought Chris made it: Thanks for letting me know!
Nope. This is a direct reworking of "I'd rather go blind" by Etta James from 1967! The only thing different is the lyric. The melody, tempo, key, instruments, arrangement, production, and overall feel, are all a carbon copy of the original SOUL classic.
@@moosic2i Before 2015 Chris was a song writer for over a decade, he made a living and fed his family writing the music and lyrics for A list country artists, he's credited with close to a dozen #1's and ton more that hit top 20, so why would he need to "rip anyone off"? On the weekends him and his band played local dive bars around Nashville for fun and a few bucks. They covered Tennessee Whiskey but with a more blues/gospel feel to it. Yes you read that correctly, they covered it, he DID NOT write new lyrics to Etta's song. Tennessee Whisky was written in 1980 by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove, they offered it to George Straight but he turned it down, but David Allen Coe loved and released it on his 1981 album of the same name. Then 2yrs later in 1983 George Jones released it as a single. Then nothing until Chris released it, but with less twang and more soul. It had become such a fan favorite in the dive bars, his manager talked him into including it on his debut album.
Songs are copyrighted two ways, the lyrics and the music, each hold independent copyrights, even if the same person wrote the music and lyrics. His record label paid Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove as writers of the lyrics, but the music nor the lyrics to I'd Rather Go Blind were written by Etta James, her friend Ellington Jordon wrote the lyrics and she polished them up, then copyrighted under Billy Foster, Etta's singing partner at the time. I don't know if you play or can read music, but if you know your blues and R&B music very well, you could probably find a lot of songs that sound the same musically. I'd Rather Go Blind and Tennessee Whiskey are not note for note the same song. Both songs have the 12/8 rhythmic meter, are in the key of A, and have a chord progression often found in classic gospel and soul music. Stapleton and James have a similar singing style, too, that's it. You cannot copyright a rhythm, or a time signature. Not to mention, Etta was one of Chris's biggest influences growing up, if anyone from Etta's family thought he was ripping her off, Chris would write them a check in 2 seconds.
The lady singer, her name is Morgane and she's, his wife. She sings with him every time.
Nice sound nice voiceâ€â€â€đ”đ”
The lady up there harmonizing with him is his wife. She had to talk him into singing in front of people because of his extreme stagefright.
One of my favorite songs. I guess it's cause I'm from Tennessee lol
always do live versions ;) stank face instantly ;) i had the same face
Love your reaction.
Please react to Yebba My Mind
When I first saw this video my very first thought at the end of it was that I would not take a date to a Chris Stapleton concert unless we were already in a very stable, committed relationship, lol.
SYST. THIS is Love, Rock..too Good life...
Check out his performance of COLD at the CMA!
I Love Austin City Limits! I have played there twice many many years ago! unforgettable experience!
That woman lol is his wife...she is why we even have him. He suffered from severe stage fright, but she said she would always be there and the World needed to hear him. Listen to...What are you listening to... Sometimes I Cry...Cold from the Grammy Awards ..live...Say Something with him And JT done live in one take.
They say never go to a Chris Stapleton show with your woman because he'll steal her lolđđđ
Thank you ,I hate interruptions too. I hate when they stopped song 2 or three times .Very aggravating
I have`nt read all comments, so it`s probobly mentioned before.. but the lady in this song is his wife
Some don't know but early on in his carrier and even some later, he suffered from stagefright and you will see when that happens, he will stare at his wife (The back up singer) for her strong support ,, They are a team!!!
Welcome to the Chris Stapleton rabbit hole you have so much to catch up on.
Take a listen to this one by Chris about 10 years ago. React or not, totally worth your time.
Chris Stapleton - Sometimes I Cry (Bing Lounge)
I saw him live in grand forks ND heâs amazing
Should hear him sing the Star Spangle Banner
Forget the rest...u r still the best. Wonderful reaction. It's not an original by Chris. Chaka did cover the Chris version of it tho. All ur comments are just so on point. Thanks again. Hugs. Mark
Correct, not an original. This is a direct reworking of "I'd rather go blind" by Etta James from 1967! The only thing different is the lyric. The melody, tempo, key, instruments, arrangement, production, and overall feel, are all a carbon copy of the original SOUL classic.
@@moosic2i there are similarities between the two I cannot deny. But to say anything about the two songs are carbon copies of one another is just factually inaccurate. Yes of course, Etta James' recording was done much earlier than any version of Tennessee Whiskey and if Chris Stapleton's version was inspired by I'd Rather Go Blind, what of it? Stapleton has admitted openly that he has been strongly influenced by the blues, soul, r&b, gospel, jazz and everyone knows it. So is your point to infer that because of the popularity of Stapleton's version, he owes the creator of the Etta James' song monies? That to me is a stretch. And it's only monetary successful songs that this type of claims are ever made. Never the countless other songs that show influence that are not hits. Etta was a widely successful and renowned artist on her own for the times and her music should still be appreciated.
She is his wife! đ±ââđ±ââđđđ đ đđ
Hi Sabina! You should check a mashup made with Chris & Angelina (Tenesse Whiskey/ I Rather Go Blind)is really wonderful!!!â€
Uh! Noted, Thanks đ€
Mashups are faked thru editing. Why should she react to that? There is enough really great performances from either artist to focus on, come on. MARK
The lady is his wife.
You mentioned their creative process. So far theyâve managed to create 5 children together
Oh forgot to request if you can do Sometimes I Cry with Henri. You will not be disappointed
This is actually a cover of a David Allen Coe song that was written by Dean Dillon. But like he did with Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, he made it his own.
Nope. This is a direct reworking of "I'd rather go blind" by Etta James from 1967! The only thing different is the lyric. The melody, tempo, key, instruments, arrangement, production, and overall feel, are all a carbon copy of the original SOUL classic.
New sub here....I really appreciate your method of review/reaction...(No interrupts)...My reaction to my first listen was just like yours....And pestered all my friends to sit for a listen....Since you aren't exposed to country so much, allow me to suggest an acapella group that leans country, Home Free...for their country vibe: Man of Constant Sorrow, Ring of Fire (either live on the voice off show or the production feat. Avi Kapkan of Pentatonix)...Caution: you might get sucked into a rabbit hole!
This is not a country song!
@@moosic2i I didn't mean to imply that THIS is a country song. I think I was referring to your commentary..

Wait til u hear him sing "Amanda."
Since you like live performances I would like to suggest Man's World a James Brown cover and What are you listening to one of his songs.
Sabina babe you gotta watch his rendition of the National Anthem from the Super Bowl
Would love to see your reaction to Colter Wall. His song "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" is very popular, and while it's a great representation of his abilities, it's not the best representation of his voice and style as a whole. I'd recommend his song "cowpoke" or my personal favorite "Bald Butte".
Thanks! Love your videos.
David Allen Coe is the original artist for the song.
I'm sure it'll be said a bunch of times in the comments, but: Not the original. Stapleton's version is also a cover. Tennessee Whiskey was originally by David Allan Coe in 1981
Love your reactions, and thoughts. Would love to get your thoughts on Brittney Slayes of Unleash The Archers. They are a canadian power metal band.
