This video demonstrates how I permanently fixed the LC error code by repositioning the leak detection sensor in my SAMSUNG Dishwasher Model: DW80K5050US.
For over two years this dishwasher has repeatedly malfunctioned by displaying the LC code and stopped running. Each time this has happened we have disconnected the power at the circuit breaker waited a few hours and allowed itself to reset and then it would function again.
It has progressively increased in the number of times it has happened until finally the code would not reset even after sitting disconnected for 3 days.
In an attempt to permanently fix the issue I have repositioned the leak detector switch to a new position in the machine.

Thank you for this! We've not had a running dishwasher for over a week because of this same error code. I even called Samsung about this issue as it started happening 2 months after I purchased it. This is the worst dishwasher I've ever owned, and if I would've known back then that this is a common thing, I never would've bought it :/ :(
Sure and glad it was helpful. I agree..it seems like Samsung would've addressed the malfunction by now but since I've made the alteration it's been running fine. Goodluck with yours.
I have had Samsung appliances for 7 years, second time LC problem with dishwasher, two refrigerator repairs due to freezing problems, replaced clock and main circuit board in oven. Never again buying a Samsung appliance
Thanks, I’d called the repair guy then cancelled him after I fount this Great video. The only thing I did differently was instead of taping the sensor up inside thee unit, I added 3 washers on each under side of the sensor mounting, basically shimming it higher from the catch pan so.a small amount of water won’t set it off but not so high that it doesn’t detect any significant accumulation that could damage the electronics. So far, so good!
Awesome! Glad it helped and the washers is a great idea. Enjoy!
I just read another comment on a related video that it worked to trim the sensor probes shorter with a nail clipper. You're idea seems more reversible. :)
@@danielparks4181 yeah I didn't want to change anything too permanent in case it didn't work....lol. Been holding well so far.
Were the screws long enough to accommodate the washers or did you need longer screws? Thinking about trying this fix out and trying to plan ahead.
You're both genious. I'm attacking this problem tomorrow. Thank you
Thank you sooo much! I was thisclose to tossing it and buying a new dishwasher. That code had been going on for well over a year of and on. Your video was my last hope since the code was now happening every time it ran after 3 days of it being off at the breaker box. My husband and I never would have thought to do this without your help.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. That code was driving me crazy too. Enjoy!
Man, I've been messing with this same error for about a year. This video was perfect! Thank you so much! Couldn't even get another video to show me how to get to that stupid sensor. So simple. Thank you again.
That’s great to hear! Glad it was able to help you 😄👍🏽 Enjoy
Perfect video - nicely edited to show only what’s needed and was very helpful. Thanks!
Awesome thanks! Glad it was helpful.
This is exactly what I needed to see. We have had the dishwasher for just under a year and today is when the dreaded LC state appeared. I'm going to tackle this tomorrow using your guidance. Thanks a lot for the helpful video and hope your dishwasher is still working well, too!
Awesome thanks and glad it was helpful! Yeah mine is still going strong. Seems this is an engineering flaw by Samsung.
We have the same issue/same dishwasher. We are also just past the 1yr mark. 1yr 2months and this showed up. Attempting the fix this evening. I will also be relocating the sensor as you did as well.
@@whoyouwon Fingers crossed it works!
@@wgibson86 it worked but we had other issues. The motor was also getting louder and louder. Last night she went POOF. Top bearing on the motor was shot. New motor and seal on the way.
@@whoyouwon AHHH Man...well at least it sounds like it was working before the motor went out. Hopefully that motor has it running smooth again. Good luck with it.😄
Thank you for sharing this!! I did just what you said but got the same error code, so I opened it back up. Though I couldn't see any water I took a blow dryer and blew the sensors dry. Re-assembled and it worked like a charm. You weren't kidding when you said those sensors were sensitive.
@@dracisyoung5403 Awesome glad it was helpful in getting it working. Enjoy 😄👍🏽
Hey thank you so much brother! Glad we have souls like you out in the world
Absolutely. Glad it was helpful. Enjoy!
Today, I encountered an error code and hesitated to open the dishwasher due to my lack of courage. However, upon watching your video, I feel more confident about proceeding. I sincerely hope that my newfound confidence is not unfounded.
Just make sure all electrical power is disconnected and you should be fine. 😄👍🏽
Dude! Thank you so much for this video. Fixed mine in about 20. Quick and easy thanks to you!
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. Enjoy
Thank you! Good video quick and easy🎉❤
Thank you so much for this! It was making me crazy!! I’m so grateful for knowledgeable kind people who are willing to share their experience!
You're very welcome glad it was helpful. It drove me bananas too..lol!
Thank you! This fixed my LC error code (that was keeping me up at night). The only modification I did was to drill two holes in the plastic tray for the sensor and then I used two zip ties to set the sensor in place rather than using duct tape. Thanks again!
@@user-lh6ew1wt2r Awesome great idea! Glad it worked. Enjoy 😄👍🏽
Excellent video. Concise, to the point, well narrated. Just what I needed. Thank you!
Thanks and glad it was helpful 😄
I cleaned this sensor and replaced it so many times, never thought to move it. Thank you for saving us money !!!!
Absolutely! It’s such an annoying issue. Enjoy
You are a lifesaver! Same issue with my Samsung Dishwasher. No actual moisture or leak. An overly sensitive sensor. Thank you for posting this video.
That’s great news. Glad it worked for you 😄
Just want to say thank you! Followed the steps here yesterday and my issue was resolved. I did not have to spend the money calling out for service.
That’s great to hear. Glad it was helpful 😄
Good news is, I cleaned all the hoses & filters connected to my dishwasher. Bad news is, that was a gigantic waste of time. Thank you, this fixed it immediately!
@@PThorpe11 haha…well never hurts to have clean hoses. Glad it was helpful 😄👍🏽
Hey brother!
Thank you for the info!
I can’t wait to tear this thing out and fix it.
This happened to us like a year in, and we just started hand washing, as I wasn’t trying to buy a new 1000 dollar dishwasher, twice..
The wife is over the hand wash thing and I went hunting for lc code info. Found your CZcams post and I wanted to thank you brother, so thanks !!!
You’re a true man for others. Massive respect for posting this video. Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you for that Video,
I followed your directions to the letter and behold it was like Magic!
The dishwasher came back to life!
Thank you again!
That's great to hear! Enjoy.
Going thru my LC code for the 4th time & I added 2 washers under each side of the sensor. Reinstalled, turned pwr on & I still get the LC. Not sure where it thinks it's seeing a leak but there is none. So powered down & I've got a heavy fan that I'll let run until tomorrow. 🤞🤞🤞
I havnt used mine in a month because I was afraid of breaking it if i tried to fix it. I am not handy. Took me 10 mins. Works like a champ. Thanks!
I never give likes but you earned one. This is very helpful and informative. Well done...may you live 1000 years and your descendants people the earth
Awesome man thanks! I have one daughter so hopefully she can people the earth😂
Hahahah this comment
Thank you! My husband and I are very handy, but this had us stumped. You saved us a service visit!
Awesome glad it was helpful. Enjoy 😄
This solution worked for me. I did not take any circuit out from dish washer. I put the dishwasher down from right side down and cleaned the lower part as shown in video. Thank you for sharing this video
That’s great and good luck with it!😄
My Samsung dishwasher had the same thing. I turned it over and I did find some water underneath it. I wanted to say the best tip was recommending moving it behind and taping it down. I haven’t had the error code ever since I did that. Ty so much for your video!! ❤️
I’m glad it worked for you. Enjoy 😄👍🏽
Thanks a ton, this fixed my Dishwasher Issue. It is a bit moist there and i was getting this atleast once a month and thought it was an electric issue :)
Great to hear. Thanks for watching!
You, Sir, are a hero 🙌 fixed mine right up and saved myself $1200 . Stupid technicians said not fixable without even opening shmmm
@@garik1018 That’s great! Glad it was helpful😄
I added 2 small plastic washers under the sensor, it raised it up about 1/16 in.
or about 1.5mm and it works without errors for over 1 year now.
That’s smart…thanks for sharing 😄👍🏽
Thank you very much for this video. It was spot on. My problem was a clogged filter and it flooded a little. but even a week afterwards the unit still wasn’t working. I popped the pan dried the sensor and it’s working great.
Awesome! Glad it helped!
I cannot thank you enough! Mine was a little wetter than yours but it worked like a charm! I actually struggled more getting my racks back in! 🤣 Thanks again!
That’s great to hear. Glad it was helpful. I struggle with those damn racks everyday it seems 😂
Hey you just saved me an hour of hand washing everything I had just loaded in when this happened for the $*@& time. Appreciate you!
Wow that would have sucked…glad it was helpful 😄
Did this today thanks to your video! Much appreciated. 👏🏼
Awesome! Glad it helped.
I have to do this with my dishwasher every few months. I’m so over it. I have the exact same one. I’m gonna do this thank you for the video!
It’s a pain I know. Good luck with it 😄
Thank you for this solution. I had added one washer a year ago and that worked. I think the plastic cover deformed and it was enough for the little amount of water to cause the fault.
Absolutely..glad it helped!
Thank u so much, took five minutes to fix and it works! Saved us a repair man coming out!
Awesome and glad it helped!
Thank you a lot, my dishwasher having the same problem for one years and with your video problem fixed. Thanks for sharing this.
That's great to hear. Glad it helped!
Thanks for the vid! Water spilled on the floor and then started getting this code. Of course the manual says call a repair guy. NOT! Simple fix. Thanks again!
Awesome! Glad you were able to get it fixed 😄
Wonderful video, easy to follow. This is exactly what was happening with my dishwasher, for the 2nd time! So frustrating!! I fixed it myself after watching your video! Your visit video was easy to understand and right on point ! Thank you!
Thank you and so glad it was helpful!
This exactly what was wrong with my dish washer and this is exactly what fixed it. Thank you!!
Awesome! Glad it helped!
What a silly little sensor. This just happened to me last night, and I woke up to find my dishwasher still running. Fortunate / unfortunately its still under warranty and I am stuck waiting for someone to come. It is was out of warranty I'd be doing this immediately. Great video! Thanks
Thanks!
Great video, straight and to the point. Appreciate you posting!

This helps me go in a direction with mine 🙏 Thank you! These things are junk 🤦 this is my first brand new washer I ever purchased in a newly/remodeled house and what a nightmare this has been! 😭🤦 This'll only be the 27th time prolly!?!? That Ive pulled this damn dishwasher in a yr of owning! What a joke they have become! Samsung used to be top notch!?!?
@@NateNasty9302 yeah it’s crazy they haven’t addressed this issue but the good thing is it has been working great since making the mod. Enjoy 😄
Thank you so much. Great working dishwasher but dealt with this code too. Did what you said and now washing
That’s great news. Glad it was helpful. Enjoy 😄
installed a new sink for a customer, due to the new p traps and positioning of the drains i had to install the dishwasher drain to the garbage disposal. I also had to replace the drain hose. as soon as i put everything back together i couldnt get the dishwasher to work because of the leak sensor. when detaching the drain hose water got under the pan and the sensor kicked on. this video was very helpful! Thankyou!

Thanks for this man. Dishwashers working again.
Awesome ..glad that it was helpful 😄
Great idea! Thx for this. I'm not sure I'm going to buy Samsung washers in future... Gonna give this a shot on my chronic "LC" dishwasher
Thanks! Yeah it is really annoying but it's been working great since I did the modification. Good luck with yours!
While annoying that sensor serves a purpose. That sensor senses a leak in your dishwasher. It stops the dishwasher from potentially allowing water to leak all over your floor. While you can move it to stop the code, make sure you address the root cause. Otherwise some time you run the dishwasher you may be sorry. The best solution is to do what some have done, leave it in the bottom pan and raise it with washers.
Awesome thanks for the tip!😄👍🏽
Worked perfectly! Thank you for such a great and easy to follow video.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. Enjoy!
Thank you times 1 million!!! You are brilliant!!! This code goes off all the time for us and it drives us crazy!!! We had the same amount of water as you did!!!! Thank you!!!
Awesome. Yeah it's super frustrating.
Dude it worked!!!! our dishwasher was driving us crazy ..thanks man
Awesome! Enjoy😀
Great video and tip. We need more people like you. The sensor in my Samsung dishwasher was quite different though, a disc made of foam that "floats" and pushes a little button up which activates the LC code. I dried the whole area up and it worked. Hope it lasts. If not, I'll get rid of the bloody foam or cut it shorter. Will see. Thanks
Awesome thanks! Well fingers crossed that it works.😄
Thanks! We’ve been having this exact problem and I was dreading having to take the unit out every time this LC code pops back up. I’m hoping this video’s tips will keep us from needing to repeat!
Sure no problem. Ours has been working great since the modification. Fingers crossed for you 😄
Sir, Your knowledge has helped me fix the similar problem in my dishwasher.Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Appreciate the video. While I chose not to do the bypass as you did, the instruction was extremely helpful from having to drop 3 bill on some dude to do what I could do in about an hour.

Even after moving my sensor and triple checking it was dry/clean, mine still wouldn’t work so I disconnected it. Thanks for the vid.
I'll be doing this in the morning! Thanks a bunch for the info!
Awesome!
Awesome, quick, and helpful video. Liked and subscribed for that.
This is a great video. I just got my brand new samsung dishwasher 3 weeks ago and a few day ago I started getting that dreaded LC error code. I was about to follow your suggestion but called samsung first and they sent out a tech the next day. The problem for me was the rubber washer that was inside the water intake tube that's connected to the back of the dishwasher had shredded so the water was leaking because of that. He didn't have a spare washer so I pulled one out of one of my garden hoses and he used that one to replace the shredded one. It's only been one day and I haven't had that error again, yet. Hopefully that fixes the problem. So I would suggest that everyone checks that pesky rubber washer to see if that is the problem.
Wow it started with the error after only 3weeks! Well glad you got it fixed. Thanks for sharing your experience and tip😄👍🏽
Simple and to the point. Good job all around with your video and presentation. With that said, I'd never buy another Samsung product. I have the exact same dishwasher and this thing has more damn error codes than it does functions! I also have a Samsung refrigerator that sucks.
Thanks and you're 100% correct I have the fridge also and it sucks. I'll never buy Samsung again either. Thanks for watching!
You are an awesome wonder! Thank you. That was such a simple fix.
Thanks and I'm glad it worked. Enjoy!
Nice, concise tutorial. Thanks
Sure no problem. Glad it was helpful 😄
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Saved me from having to get a new dish washer. Thanks for the video.
That's awesome! You're welcome and enjoy.
Many thanks for this video. When Mr. Gibson showed how little water was setting the sensors off, I decided to just let the stupid dishwasher dry out. So I left the door open a crack during the day and all the way open overnight, and voilà, the stupid dishwasher fixed itself! It took 24-36 hours, but the stupid dishwasher is now functioning again. We’ll see how long it lasts, but this is the first time it’s happened in well over two years. Stupid dishwasher. (But I will also be more disciplined about monthly cleaning…)
Glad it was helpful. Enjoy!
Thanks for the solution to this error, I just bought a new top-of-the-line Samsung dishwasher, got it installed, flip the breaker ready to impress the wife, and all I see is a flashing "LC" code, she wasn't impressed. Argh. Remember when hooking up the supply line I had a leak, guess it leaked into that tray area and kept triggering the error code. I just needed to dry out that tray and put it back together but if I ever get this code again know where to look and how to impress the wife again.
Lol....glad it was helpful. Enjoy!
My Samsung dishwasher has been in operation for 3 months and has been used 10 times and already has the LC error. Typical market economy

I gotta say that after my Samsung TV going out on me one month after the manufacturer warranty expired, and a year of this leak sensor with the dishwasher, there will be no more Samsung appliances for me.
Thanks again.
Thank you, kindly, for the wonderful support and clear footage. God bless!
Absolutely! Your welcome
I dont know the dump 9 who gave thumps down, did it for what purpose. Really. Great video man and thanks for a great idea.
Awesome! Glad it helped!
The sensor is working as it should. The dishwasher is leaking and it's designed to stop it so your kitchen doesn't flood and/or the flooring doesn't get damaged by a slow leak. His fix is the same as taking down the smoke detector when there is smoke coming from a fire. Just ignore the real problem. What could go wrong?
Great video! However I would say if you try this method you should run an empty load to test how much water you are dealing with. This could be a simple part swap but if not it may cost you your wood floors.
Thanks for the tip👍🏽
Genius man! Great idea. Same pain here and it fixed it. Thanks!
Thanks and glad it was helpful. Enjoy 😄👍🏽
You are a patient man! Ours gave the LC code last night and my wife almost didn’t let me go to sleep. So, this morning I found your helpful video. I’m gonna jab you a bit, though. The “problem” is the small water leak which results in the code. But, if we didn’t have this dishwasher our “code” would be water on the floor which would be a problem. Interesting that your counters and backsplash are just like mine! Now, if I can clear that code. Thank you!
incredible, my DW was hardly being used and I ran it yesterday and it is stuck in the LC Code, so frustrating that you cannot do this without dragging it out
Yeah it is very frustrating. Terribly engineered.
