That Peta lady is a perfect example of how people can only see life through one lens: their own. Absolutely no understanding that people come from different places, have different upbringings, different teachers. He even said he saw his first dogfight at age seven! Seven!
A child learned that bullshit and then had to unlearn it and find the meaning of those lessons. He did that and more. He reached out to the communities.

You do know that's not why the Falcons let Vick go right? The fact is if Vick hadn't lied to Arthur Blank the Falcons owner about the dog fighting claim, Mr. Blank would have helped him out of the troubles and helped him recover his career. Mr Blank just signed Vick to a $130 million dollar contract and Vick shit all over Mr. Blank and made him to be a fool to the general public because Mr. Blank had went to bat for him over the claims of the dog fighting.

Ppl in the Mid & South East know all about the dog fighting issue. Look up “David Tant dog fighting” & you’ll see that before he went to prison in South Carolina that Tant was charged in the same Federal district as Vick. Tant had a big operation like Vick but he got probation before Vick got prison. Vick was used as a deterrent on a national scale. If he was a nobody then he would’ve got probation. I think dog fighting is barbaric but I also think Vick was naive & looked at w/nostalgia because his grandfather took him to dogfights. During prison Vick matured & became the good human being that he is today.

    • @r.williamcomm7693
      @r.williamcomm7693 Před 3 lety +8

Also it’s amazing the efforts that ppl were willing to take to give one of Vick’s dogs a second chance but when it’s another human being ppl can be so nasty & vindictive. If Vick wasn’t a pro athlete he would be condemned to work for minimum wage for the rest of his life. We’re condemning a generation of young ppl to virtual slavery over mistakes they made in their youth. As a society we can’t afford to lose all the contributions that these young men could make if given a second chance.

The PETA lady's comments towards the end raise a question to me that I find myself asking a lot: What do people like her expect Vick to do? I feel like no matter how much he does to show that he has changed, there will always be people out there saying "he's only apologizing to save his career". What was he supposed to do? Meanwhile the league still lets people who beat their wives/girlfriends play, hell they even still have a statue of Ray Lewis outside Baltimore's stadium. Sometimes I feel like PETA thinks animals are more sacred than humans. We are all animals... some of us just never realize it. I applaud Vick for what he has done to make up for his crimes, and I'm glad we let him retire a Falcon.

Dog Ray Lewis is 100% innocent. Read up on the court case. His friends were in a fist fight and were seen leaving in a limo. During that fist fight someone got stabbed. Lewis was not even in the fist fight, and has been acquitted by multiple witnesses. Everyone just saw a limo pull off after some crazy shit and assumed the limo was involved. His friends were also found innocent. The police themselves are certain that it wasn't them.
I agree with everything that you're saying in your comment, though. I just thought I'd point out that Ray Lewis is legit innocent, and it has been well documented. It sucks that his image is ruined by some shit he didn't do. It is actually kind of like Mike Vic; people just can't let go of what they heard in the media.

I don't know what world you live in or if you're just another delusional fangirl but Ray Lewis is FAR from innocent & i like Ray Lewis. I find it hilarious that you said to read up on the case when it's completely obvious you haven't. Innocent of the actual murder maybe but he ABSOLUTELY was invovled. He knows exactly what happened & who did it, if not then why was the white suit he was wearing never found? Why was the blood of one of the suspects found in that exact same limo? Why was he SO quick to cut a deal with the DA & turn snitch to testify on his so called boys who were proven & admitted to being involed? Why have no other suspects ever been linked to the crime? He was even found guilty of obstruction of justice because he forgot his own lies. And as far as the "multiple witnesses" who were at the scene & acquitted him, Do you mean the ones he paid off to keep quiet about it? Just like the way he paid the families of the victims? And (of course) you fail to mention other witnesses who pointed out specifically that Ray & his crew were there & a fight had started. The murders didn't even happen at the club where ALL of the parties were at when the fight started, the victims had left & Ray & his crew followed them a couple hundred more yards to finish what had started in the club. Hmmm for someone to not be there he sure did spend a lot of money. Oh but wait i forgot in your world this was all made up by the media, my apologies LMAO

You all sound stupid. Why are you making excuses for what he did? Plenty of people grew up in shitty circumstances and they never abused innocent animals.

I think vik payed his debt and should be forgiven but the way he grew up is not an excuse for dog fighting, drowning and electrocuting dogs.

Mentor Tairi That’s no excuse for drowning, electrocuting, hanging, spearing and letting dogs kill each other. That’s some psychotic shit. How can you sit there and defend that?
Black, white, Asian. You deliberately hurt something that can’t tell you to stop or tell you it hurts or defend itself? Fuck you.

In 09 I wasn't happy as an Eagle Fan and a pit bull owner. Later, in reflection as a Follower of Christ, it was a good thing to do allowing a second chance. Lady from PETA may have had a point about Michael Vick's motives coming back into the game. (As animal supporter I do not advocate peta just the same.) But I believe Michael Vick is truly redeemed and changed. God bless him and his family.

Michael Vick? Just a spectacular athlete! It will be a long time if ever that there will a QB like him. It was such a thrill to watch him play. And sitting on the edge of your seat wait in anticipation to see what he would do next.

Man this guy was so good. He'll always be a legend to me and my favourite player ever. Still crushes me. He lost out on a guaranteed hall of fame place, potential SB rings, and obviosuly millions of dollars he had and lost over something so pointless.
I'm happy to see he turned it around and bounced back on his feet, and you saw what he did in his 2nd year back in the league winning comeback player, how insanely great this guy was. The fact that tony dungy said he would've gone down as one of the greatest makes it even more sad. He should've ended up having one of the great careers. Unfortunetely the environment he grew up with and ultimately the people from there who influenced him to involve in what happened cost him a life changing career.
What could have been. Neverthless at least he made the most out of his second chance and did great in philly for himself and is now an analyst post career, and in his outside life seems to be in a good place.

Virginia Tech quickly became a solid program prior to Vick as they made 2 BCS Alliance Bowls, but for some reason they didn't get the recognition. In truth, I do think that because of Vick, he made the Hokies much more recognizable.
