    These old tractors had HORSE-power; new ones have ponies. FI, this '38hp' Deere could drag two of Deere's tiny modern (Asian) 38hp hydraulic pump on wheels around the pasture three times without slipping a wheel.

      This tractor could use a tune up. Adjust the timing and carborator while on the dyno. Notice the slight smoke and miss when the the rpms were pulled down? I thought the 70 series replaced the G. My 720 gas turned out 65 HP on the dyno.

    How is 38HP a big deal? Just curious. It doesn't sound like a lot but these tractors last forever and pull hard. Just interesting how only 38hp moves mountains?

      It was a big deal when these tractors were built, they were released in 1937. They run at less than 1000rpm too. You need torque to pull.

    I would like to know why it seems that everbody runs a straight pipe? I belive theysound better with a muffler. I used to run most of these tractors.

    a farmer in our village had one for years must have been a ww11 war loan tractor replaced it with Gray /Gold Fergeurson 35 when they came out i think his tractor driver never got over it as i think he was 13/14 yrs old when he started driving the tractor as war time you could get away with such things be frowned on in this PC world we seam to have created ,compared to the Fordson of the day a lot more advanced tractor

      @@Ford7710 FURHER to my comments my dad who ran ford lorries van cars always bought DB TRACTORS we had one AC Perkins engine i wanted an underslung tool bar for the AC he traded the AC back to the DB dealer and bought a DB D2 tool bar tractor , when i bought my own tractors preferred MF as i considered they had better hydraulic system than ford i owned a ford 300 wich was a great tractor let down by its hydraulics no hight control wich made life easier when carrying out some tasks , new Holland now neve had one ,and to set your mind at rest i was not a fan of JD tractors

      Gs were also made to start on gasoline and covert to kerosene, after a few minutes warming up..I cut my teeth on those old Gs. Daddy had two and are parked in the pasture.
