    Its been several hours after the game now...and I still have no idea how France lost that match. We all talk about Necib, Henry and Delie but the real story of the match was the French defence which absolutely suffocated the German attack. I counted 4 decent German chances on goal all game, thats it. Just bad luck for "Les Bleues", I guess. Its a real shame, because I LOVE watching Louisa Necib -- as beautiful as a fashion model and as cunning as a fox, the German players looked awestruck by her today. Looking forward to seeing more of her in the future.

    There is a difference between domination and possession. Putting the ball in the net, finishing opportunities, not letting them score and ultimately moving to the next game is domination! The fact that you held the ball longer but couldn't finish scoring opportunities makes you inefficient not dominant.

  • @adamuoldvids7052

    France dominated play until they scored their goal, and then allowed Germany to get back in.

    Acoording to FIFA Law 12 about handballs leading to a PK, there was never a PK for Germany.
    Despite that fact, even if Germany won the game (congrats), i'm so proud of my french women, and their great football, and so nice girls in real life on top of that. You have won my heart girls !

    • @sherpah
      @sherpah Před 9 lety +3

      sherpah Just to clarify that point about PK and handballs.
      Law 12 about handball PK (wikipedia: fouls and misconduct in football), you need:
      -Movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
      -Distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
      -Position of the hand ('natural' position versus 'unnatural' position) does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement.
      So just try to run and put your left foot ahead like in this action, your arm/hand will be naturally in that position, in addition to the fact that she is too close of the action so it is unexpected, and at the moment the german player kick the ball the arm is already in that position. It is clear it is not a PK, an indirect free kick would have been fair, when you follow the rules, but referee has the ultimate decision.

      well the meaning of the game is if you play good or even the best tactic but you fail to score, then you deserve to lose. I'm not disrespecting France but they deserve this result and that arm-stretching costed them the place in semi. You can't win the game by chances, you win it by scoring goals. My country isn't even in the competition so I"m not favoring either side.

    Penalty kicks are 90% about emotional ! Technically, (base on my experiences) you should :
    1/ keep the ball low ( so the keeper need more time to reach low).
    2/ balance the power when kick the ball (stable likes hold your breath and pull the trigger)
    3/ angle (inside lower left or right posts).
    4/ fake actions while running to the ball.(including the eyes, visions, directions)
    5/ and of course , control your emotions. (block all the glory of victory or agony - focus and just thinking about doing your job)

    While I understand that a handball is in the box for a penalty is something of a grey area and a sensitive subject, I'm pretty sure when your fully outstretched arm blocks a cross, the ref has to call handball, and since it was in the box...clear penalty,
    so lets stop acting like the ref cost france the game. not finishing chances and letting a German Squad take them to Penalties cost France the game ;)

      Kelso Mandevil I see it as 1. arm not fully outstretched, its more of a natural position 2. the hand is trying to escape the ball, the movement direction towards the back 3. the distance b/w crosser and the hand is too small for a handballed person to react.
      so IMO ref steals it from France. And in general in women's soccer referying is very poor.

Sasic and Mittag nearly disappeared. Kemme could not hold Thomis accountable. Henry, Abily and Necib got in charge of the midfield. Only the entry of Maroszan brought some breathing room to the Germans.

    As a neutral fan, I enjoyed watching this exciting game, but there is one thing I feel bitter about. Nobody seems to have mentioned this yet, but while the referee took the French player's handball in the second half, she missed a German player's handball in the penalty area in the first half. I was watching this game live on Fox Sports, but they replayed the questionable scene in the first half in a slow motion (the commentator even questioned why it wasn't a handball). Both looked equally unintentional to me, but the referee gave a penalty to one side and didn't to the other side, which cost France this big game. Mighty Germany has advanced, but my heart goes out to French players who outperformed their opponents.

      GenMarkof007 You don't understand the FIFA rules, nor do you understand what deliberate means in English. Add to that, you can't see video properly either. The slow-motion replay doesn't make things up. Your personal "pointers" are.

      Hi pegpenguin, don't really understand your comment... a few pointers for you, I've started playing soccer over 44 years ago at age 5. I did follow a course to become referee with all the rules from FIFA soccer. As for the penality kick, I just gave my point on what I saw from many angles and in slow-motion. So for your comments, I would try to be a bit more carefull on your words. Also, you know like me that if women soccer would have referee at each goal net, that would help, like in men soccer.
      Cheers ;)

      GenMarkof007 That's all fine and dandy, but just show me the documents in the law/rulebook where it is stated. If it's an actual rule, I want to see it officially.
      Also, I can easily tell that it was unintentional (which is equal to non deliberate). The arms are out to maintain balance as she stops to attempt a kick away on one leg. The referee can't know this so easily, however... so it's an honest presumption to make. It's just too bad that it cost the game. I like to see teams win from skill, not referees.

    Franx K First half of your comments are right, not a penalty. It was a harsh call the ref got away with but a bad one.
    The comment about Lavogez was 100% wrong... Anyone that plays and watches a lot of soccer will see that Lavogez was more technically gifted and ferocious compared to Thomis, who at that point was too tired to use her speed effectively, and her give-aways could have been too costly in extra time. Lavogez AND Thiney galvanized the team in extra time... it was thanks to particularly Lavogez that that last play was even set up that Thiney missed... Lavogez's PK miss is on her, but she will blossom into a true star for France.
    Here is to hoping that Necib, Thomis, Delie, and others have one more world cup in them... I am dying for them to win in 2019.

    France was definitely the better Team overall but my god the conversion of chances was just bad and they could have won this easily against Germany with their weakest Performance yet. The Penalty call is justifiable in my opinion because her whole arm is sticking out normally you would try to hold them close to your body so the referee thinks you didn't try to deliberately block the ball with your arm. The German Team was very lucky to make it through to the semi finals but sometimes all you need is luck to win an important match.

    You guys are all about "if's" and "but's" and "deserves" but you forget that as deserving as you may be you can not always win... you see it's nice to say words such as "should've" and "deserves" but I can name matches where superior teams should've won and hadn't because... well... the odds were against them. I hope you guys get my point as what I wrote may seem vague to some. If teams that were superior always won it'd be boring as you know what the outcome would be. But having these odds against teams is what makes the sport exciting to watch as it gives you a reason to watch it; You know like everybody else that the outcome could go either way. It's 4 am right now so don't kill me if you don't get what I'm talking about.

    If you watch closely enough, you will see that Germany's goalie's feet are leaving the line before the ball is struck on just about every PK. This is very common and very hard to call. Although she didn't save the previous 4 kicks, watch those and you will see the obvious. I played goalie and know the slightest split second jump to cut down the angle can make a big difference.

    I think it was a fair penalty awarded to Germany... it was very clear and obvious, in spite of diverse opinions... two things killed the French team in my opinion, those obvious chances they had in first half that they lost. I have seen this occurred over and over again in this tournament, when the better team lacks the will to score goals and eventually they lose later in the game when they are exhausted or frustrated. Secondly, the coach's decision to substitute Thomis and Sommers was the most terrible decision I can ever think of by a coach!!

    • @AlexAlex-yf7oo
      @AlexAlex-yf7oo Před 9 lety +1

    • @orsa99
      @orsa99 Před 9 lety +1

      Exactly! Thomis was the focal point of almost every French attack in the first half, and if the French strikers could finish she would have had at least 3 assists in the first half alone. The coach made the mistake though thinking after they scored the game would be over and subbed of his best attacker for a defensive winger and the one who would miss the final penalty. Big mistake on the coaches part to think the game was over especially against a physically and mentally strong German squad who can pull of results from nothing.

    La loi 12 invite l'arbitre à "prendre en considération" plusieurs critères:
    • le mouvement de la main en direction du ballon (et non du ballon en direction de la main)
    • la distance entre l’adversaire et le ballon (ballon inattendu)
    • la position de la main, qui ne vaut pas nécessairement infraction
    Ni la "main décollée du corps" ni "la main qui va vers le ballon" n'obligent en soi à siffler une faute, contrairement à ce que l'on entend souvent.
    Allez ma canadienne, va relire les règles du foot, ou alors arrête l'arbitrage, c'était pas un match de DH, mais de coupe du monde.
