- Pierre Lacroix, who died in December 2020 at age 72, was an agent before being named general manager of the Quebec Nordiques in 1994. He moved with the franchise when it relocated to Colorado. His grandson Max Lacroix accepts the award on his behalf and speaks highly of the individuals that were a part of Pierre's hockey career.

For those outside of Denver or outside of the fandom of the Colorado Avalanche, Pierre Lacroix was just another GM. But to those of us dedicated fans who have followed the team since it's arrival to Denver, Pierre Lacroix was a special person and without him, none of the early success of the Colorado Avalanche would have been possible. I was lucky enough to meet Pierre a few times in various situations and he was ALWAYS so cordial and nice. This is a way overdue honor for him but I am so glad to see he finally made it to where he belongs in the HHOF.
We love Lacroix in CO. That man built a powerhouse and gave the Avs a chance to win every year.
Lacroix was always agressive and you could always count on him to do anything he could to make his team better. Patrick Roy was my fav player and MTL was my fav team and when he got traded there I fell in love with the Avs too and kept and eye on Roy for the remainder of his career. MTL still is my fav team but Lacroix is my all time fav GM and would always make the deadline exciting and always had trades that literally brought you out of your seat. Not many GMs had the balls he did.
What a beautiful tribute from his grandson. Was definitely way overdue.
There is a reason he has a banner in the rafters of ball arena. Every fan of the avalanche will always know the name Pierre Lacroix
Huge habs fan here but When he traded and got Roy my fav player I follwed the avs too. Your 100 % right he is a legend.
@@frankmack9505that why we won those two cups. We were given a playoff team, a division winning team but not a cup team. We lacked a goalie and thanks to Pierre and the Detroit red wings we got one lol
