  • How do you do everyone! As promised, these are the actions we would take to handle smoke or Fire in the Forward or AFT (Rear cargo hold. They are referred to as baggage holds on passenger aircraft- that is where your check-in bags are loaded. I go through the warnings/ sequence through the electronic checklist. As I explain, the pilot flying would be concentrating of navigating at speed to the nearest airport to land. The Pilot monitoring handles the checklist. Hope you get the idea why we do these procedures.
    Enjoy!

Fantastic video Captain Obet. Clear and concise. I’m not rated in the 747 but I love to learn. I’m a retired corporate/ charter pilot that flew for forty seven years and retired out of the Gulfstreams after twenty six years , loved going to school at Flight Safety and CAE , 747 always been my favorite bird.
The emphasis of getting the airplane on the ground as you stated , like now , can’t be emphasized enough . I watched the video and read the accident report of the heroic effort of First Officer Matthew. Bell from UPS 6 when he fought like hell to get on the ground. Sep 3 2010, Captain Doug Lampe and First Officer Matthew Bell, may their souls Rest In Peace.

There's 4 bottles on the 74. You got metered and rapid. So you got 256 minutes of fire suppression to fight the fire.
