You’d think people don’t care anymore, but against all odds, Phil’s fans are easy lovers of his legacy. Not just two hearts; but many. His music can be heard, even in the air tonight, if you listen close enough. It screams “take me home”, but with true music art, it can take time to appreciate it’s true colors, even if it takes one more night to realize that you can’t hurry love...(even if it’s the really groovy kind). So don’t wish that it would rain down on people who don’t like him. We need to hear both sides of the story as to why they’re musically leading separate lives from us, so that maybe one day...just maybe, we can live another day in paradise, on the way to heaven as we finally dance into the light.

To those commenting about slurred speech or "he's drunk" maybe you could watch more than one recent video. That would require effort, and I understand you're too busy diagnosing to do some research before criticizing. This was days after a bad fall that left wounds on his face, so they obviously have make-up on him. And he is no doubt on a painkiller. Watch other videos and you will find he is not slurring one bit. He is suffering from nerve damage, back and ear issues, and is not the same man he was years ago, but he is not deserving of the typical comment section BS.

I first became a 'fan' when I was 12, having been dragged to a Genesis gig that summer. I've loved him ever since, even though it made me unpopular at times with school friends - who just wanted to listen to Blur vs Oasis. I was never able to get tickets for his solo tours, and I'm so happy to have seen him again, 29yrs later. He looks so fragile now, but he's still there inside. That book of his is incredible, and it will be a VERY sad day when he does eventually 'shuffle off'. He'll always be a hero to me.

Can't judge the man because of prescibed meds. He clearly needs them. Just makes for a boring, self indulgent interview. This session was supposed to provide insight. It did, just not in a flattering way for Phil. He clearly isn't following prescibed med advice. I bet he was nervous & topped up before coming on. Poor fella.

BUT as he's flogging a book & with a willing audience you'd hope he has someone in his corner quietly saying: 'Phil, you're fine as is, no booze or extra pills needed for this gig. I was thinking he'd been drinking, but now I'd agree with the pain meds idea. My husband just had his second back surgery. In my opinion, they seem to have him on too high of dosage, but then I'm not the one in his pain. I love Phil Collins, recently rediscovering him. I love that song 'I wish it would rain'. Can't say I've actually listened to very many of his songs before now. That last wife really did a number on him. His songs really say a lot. A lot of his heartache is in those songs. Love yuh Phil & I hope you're happy finally!

As some have said, Phil is one of the best drummers in the business. Anyone who doesn't really know his older music should listen to Supper's Ready, or Trick Of The Tail, Cinema Show etc. He and Chester formed one of the most formidable live duets in rock history. I was lucky enough to see the 'Gabriel' Genesis at Southampton Gaumont in 1973 for the Selling England By The Pound tour. And let's not forget his 'Brand X' project work. What a great interview by Richard Allinson as well. :-)

Thanks for mentioning the early works - I love this stuff, too. And I was lucky to be at some of his concerts - these were great moments in my life. Unfortunately I missed the Genesis-period with Peter, but at least I heard Genesis live in 1979, when they still used to play all the great stuff from the seventies, such as Ripples, Cinema Show, Supper's ready, Firfth of Fifth and so on. I also have been at the tour in 2007, which still brought the magic of Genesis on stage. So I give my deepest respect and love to Phil for what he has done and indeed Richard Allison is doing a great job as an interviewer. ;)
