the look in Obi eyes when Luke asked him how his pops died is priceless. you can see him actually going way back and try to figure out how to tell Luke with finesse. And the way they edit it and make the pause longer is magnificent

I really would like a story that’s mature and is a Character Study. And generally be a movie kids Would be bored To see.

Agreed. I really hope Disney nail this. It might even be a more important execution than the sequels as it’s based in between the prequels and originals, so ultimately effects both. I really hope the directors and producers put a lot of time understand obiwan, watching films hundreds of times over.

I always loved this video. The editing is great. The way they patch everything together makes it feel complete. Its also cool because it shows how technically Obi never actually lied to Luke. Darth Vader was essentially a different person than his father. His father was destroyed(“murdered”) by Darth Vader. Such a cool video!

What makes Obi-Wan spinning the narrative even more peak is that it wasn't just Kenobi that was telling the story that way. VADER himself was telling the story that way. Think about any time Vader talks about Anakin he always says "Anakin Skywalker was weak. I destroyed him." And thats the same way Kenobi tells it which is wild
I agree with Joe that the narrative spin completely altered Luke's path. This is my first Sith Temple video, and I'm hooked.

Fun react. For me, I think Obi was the greatest Jedi, who had truly nothing but heartache in his life and lost everyone and never gave in and had the best balance of wisdom, balance and sword play. I hear they got Ewen for more on him I hope it is a mini series or a film or two.

There is a CBR video where they did a theory where Luke actually does end up finding out about what obi wan did to his father this was a theory on what if order 66 failed,
Luke finds out that obi wan left his father to die instead of helping him and turning him back and Luke turns to the dark side really good vid would recommend it

As a huge movie fanatic, I do that. All the time. I always deep think into things and analyze within different lens of other character.
I REALLY hope, that the one's who were hooked on Star Wars in the 70s and 80s, lived to see Revenge of the Sith. Imagine having to wait, 30. Damn. Years...to get that WHOLE story by Ben Kenobi explained.
Very interesting discussion. Had luke sucomb to his anger, imagine how powerful he'd be with Vader. He's the only one who fought against it and ultimately it did bring anakin back because of it. I think obi won really believed Vader killed anakin. Vader symbolizing the dark side. But the narrative he told luke was still deceptive.

5:44 it’s not that Obi-Wan has a lack of conviction; perhaps he has too much conviction and is too loyal to the Jedi Council’s edicts. But that’s part of the tragedy of Obi-Wan and what makes him a great, endearing character.
I’ll add: it’s those mistakes that happen that drive a story and plot forward. If everything happens perfectly, the way that we-as the audience sees it-then the film is predictable and has no depth. And life doesn’t happen that way.
So in in both Legends and Canon stories I am pretty sure Luke finds out the full details. In Legends I believe R2 gets his memories restored and showed some of the events of Mustufar. In Canon I think he learns it from force ghost.

Obi Wan Kenobi was given the responsibility of training the ‘“chosen one”. That’s a heavy burden to carry. Especially given he was unsure from the start. Was his lack of faith in Annakin, his doubt, the seed for his padowan’s downfall? He did his best, but he was dealing with a prodigious force user with some very serious abandonment issues, and a deep seated desire to replace the love of his mother in Padme. All under Obi Wan’s nose. I feel it was Kenobi, and his complacency, that allowed Darth Vader to rise. Star Wars is his story, his redemption, reconciling his mistakes from the past, and ensuring the next generation of Skywalker’s honour his promise to his master Quigon, to bring balance to the force.
You should watch the first or second episode of the making of the Mandalorian, when Dave Filoni talks about this and why Qui-Gonn’s death is so pivotal. If he hadn’t died, he could’ve been the father figure that Anakin needed. Obi-Wan tried his best but he was “just” a brother to Anakin. Anakin needed a stronger figure in his life and that could’ve kept him from going to the dark side.
