The shooter has a higher SD than most of the other elements in the equation, working on the shooter is key.

You got that right, it's a individual challenge, but a shared sport at the same time

Eric, 40-odd years ago satellite reconnaisence had reached the limits of resolution because of atmospheric and wind distortion. The now ancient solution involves sending a non-visible light beam to the target, and measuring the distortion in the return beam. Which tells you the atmospheric conditions in the way. Resolution went from a meter or two down to inches and less. This same science could probably be scaled down (from hundreds of miles to just hundreds of yards) by bouncing a laser at the target, measuring the return distortion, and then quickly adjusting your sights to the same offset.
I wouldn't be surprised if the new military computer optics sights are already implementing this.
Old technology--but totally new to shooters.

I will sometimes shoot 200 rounds at 100yds in groups of 20 just to see if I can hold that group across the same amount of shots as an F-Class or a PRS match. If I can't then I start looking at why.

I'm seeing the difference between practical shooting ie hunting and competition ie having to shoot in conditions a hunter would pass up for ethical reasons. Interesting contrast in purposes.

I'm down with the Wind Zero technology ; the caveat I see is, that from one range to the next, if the material of the flags is heavier or lighter, you will be close to a correlation but probably not exactly the same as what you memorized from a previous match or practice. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think the 98/2 is the same ratio for all high level sports. I can not swing a golf club for a year and still beat 98% of competitors in most scenarios. To beat any of the Top 5 players, I would have to work my ass off and minimize mistakes to almost nothing. That 2% is a totally different game all together.

As Robin says, it must be dependent on the device being used as on my iPad the respective volume levels are not particularly different - although Eric is the louder of the two (that’s not a criticism 😉).
