As a former Leopard 2A5 gunner I consider it pretty interesting how they implemented those additional frontal turret armor extensions to just fly off. Those things are massive and they are held in place by bolts that look and feel like Satan himself forged them. I really doubt they will just "get lost" somewhere between an APFSDS hit and a bit of machine-gun fire ;)
@@user-qo6fg7cm4y Urm, dude, yes, the kinetic energy is high, but the additional frontal armoer does not eat up this energy. It is only there to trigger warheads and to make kinetic warheads tumble so they impact the actual turret armor off angle and thus cannot penetrate it anymore.

This game has helped me in real life! It’s caused me to get more fit and more active by making me want to avoid my computer and go outside! I can hear things much better because I’m now paranoid of anything that sounds like an R3 as well as any small ass sound or movement I notice!

Leopard's a scary-ass tank, but ultimately, so's quite a lot of other tanks at top tier. Top tier is less-so about armour, more-so about finding cover, coordinating with teammates, and ensuring you have the first shot. In a way, it kind of reminds me of modern infantry combat on an even greater level than it does the kind of combat you'd associate with a tank.

I have several military NVDs and yes that star shell would definitely muck up the tube with either automatic gain cutoff potentially triggered or strobing or flickering to keep the tube from blowing out depending how far it is from you. Thermals it depends on the imager type, I have an old Raytheon that can handle it way better than my new Israeli bolometer based unit.
The effect would be annoying with NVDs but well designed units can lower gain or have apertures. Tanks are the same.

Just fix that issue where the thermal viewer would be clipping into the track and you have a viable design... but probably no gun elevation

Actually weak when compared to the M1A2D's M829A4 round which penetrates a max of ~910-1000 mm of RHA @ 2km (actual pen unknown). The round also defeats APS and pre-detonates ERA before impact. Gaijin has already added the M829A1 in "New Power." It is the first in the lineup of Abrams Depleted Uranium munitions. If they add the insane M829A4 round, it will probably be for a new max BR tank, which could be The M1A2D (M1A2 SEPv4 ---- latest generation; with the current strongest anti-tank penetrator round in the world ---- M829A4).
This probably won't come for a while though, but things are trending in the "now likely" direction with the Leopard 2A6 being added, and many have requested the 2A7 in the past. They will probably add M1A2B (SEPv2 or SEPv1) first though. You never know.
