One of the most iconic and incredible sounds of the 70s one of the greatest albums of all time …. Silk Degrees - Boz Scaggs’s voice is friggin still amazing smooth as silk nothing ever will come close. This my favourite song and my daughter’s name is Georgia. For a bass player in the Steve Miller band I cannot believe he went on to be the greatest 70’s icons … not an overnight success as this album took nearly 2 years to get good radio coverage. And the rest is …. well is history…. Boz keep doing what you’re doing … we are so privileged to have been born in a time where this man gave us his gift :)
What a show! Wish I was there. The Great American Music Hall. The best place. Saw him at the Paramont Theater in Oakland. The best ever!!!#Steve Miller was there.Silk Degrees deluxe!!!
One of many classics by the one and only Boz scaggs. Certainly one of my favorites along with Jojo, Harbor Lights and a couple of others. If there a musician who one could say epitomizes the notion of "cool", it would be Boz! I just saw him 2 weeks ago in Dayton, OH (8/14/2022) . . at age 78 he is as good as ever. That incredible bluesy voice of his still has all of the range and clarity that it always did.
@James Maass Agree.😉 I first heard his music at the beginning of 1974 -- "My Time" was the album. His music is very, what I would call, "intricate," especially for rock music, and I love that the piano is so prominent. He never got the recognition that he deserved, which is a shame -- he was, and still is, a huge talent.
Ooh yeah still one of my fav albums, I was lucky enough to hangout with the Boz here in Sydney a few years back he was playing a double header with the Michael McDonald band i was in pig heaven !!!
I have to agree with you. I recall (for example) more than a few important times in my life (e.g. my early twenties, college, working years) that Bozz's music was on the radio, instantly recognizable, and always among the best you heard. They were the songs that stayed in your head back then, and they still do today.
My favorite song on one of the best albums of the 70s (and 80s, 90s, 00s ...) Just love Boz's easy voice and great lyrics. A joy to listen to then and now.
Wow, what an awesome live performance and how can you not fall in love with Georgia. I feel so proud that Silk Degrees was the first album I ever bought.
In 1976 Boz Scaggs sealed my destiny towards becoming a professional musician. The roller coaster has been well worth it. Thx Boz. ps named my yellow lab after you.
+Russ D Wow really. Boz is the Man. My late friend, a musician and I use to "wallow" in self pity about lost romance. England in the summertime. In sorrow but ever joyful. Another drink with Hickey - before the Iceman Cometh. Georgia where are you now?
+David Hole I must have been enjoying Malt. Its true the lyrics make what you want its the music...beyond words! Come to England - no Wales Ireland & Scotland. We are one Enjoy . Boz.
Fun fact- He's playing in one of the two venues he owned in San Francisco. I believe he still owns this one, The Great American Music Hall. It's a beautiful spot, home to a lot of amazing performances.
wow, Boz' voice is still pretty strong considering his age here. a lot of times, voices deteriorate over the years, but he sounds perty darned good! i loved this album.
I always wanted to believe he was singing to me!! My name is spelled different but pronounced the same as Georgia.. My dad was drunk the night I was CONCEIVED.. 😂 THE TRUTH, I SWEAR IT!!! MY MOM WAS DRUNK TOO.. I Am 74 years of age, soo let me have my idiosyncratic dreams!!!???...
BTW, My parents were both drunk n smoking the"GOODY- GOOD!!! If you get my meaning??? 😂 I was born 1947!! I still have Boz Scaggs vintage vinyl LP.. Who can beat me?????
I get rushes from the first sound of this song to the ending which has always been a sad affair.. Love you guys. You've been with me in my minds 8 track for many decades through drug adiction and jail to marring my dream women, my daughters birth and my getting clean in 1994.
🎉❤Boz Scaggs 🎉❤ is my all time Favorite singer by far ! When Silk Degrees came out, discovered this timeless classic 🎉❤Georgia 🎉❤ and the entire album was and still is the *Best* in show🎉❤ Love ❤️ Boz Scaggs, the entire band now then always. I saw Boz earlier this year at the Fillmore in SF and he sounds as good as ever! I was amazed! And every song was lifted from the past and dropped into the present as a true gift!
This man’s voice has always seemed to be coming out of the speakers since my first car as a teen. I've been through everything, more then most (but never boring) and Boz Scaggs music has always been heard, a unique voice, style, great songs.and performances. 🇺🇸
Saw him July 24th 1976 and he was definitely memorable! He was sandwiched between some pretty good company. Fleetwood Mac opened that day, then Boz and The Eagles finished the concert off. Best concert of my entire life! Oh yeah, tickets were $10.00 😁
I remember buying Silk Degrees when it came out. (Always loved Boz) I could not believe that none of these great songs were getting any airplay on the radio. Finally ,I believe "Lido Shuffle" was released as a single and the album justed exploded! Still sounds as great as ever!
Georgia, I swear I never seen such a smile.....Gorgouse, enough to make an angels heart run wild.......Crazy eyes and small town lies have got me in your spell........Drive in boys and back seat noise oh you know so well...
If only we could relive just an how just the golden moments...I lived I loved and moments like this were oh so sweet!.so many I loved are no longer here to reminisce with me..I'd give anything to relive those moments. Life is too short Xoxo You put it all to music Boz ...thank you. Love, Marcia in Modesto
Sounds great…and he changed the lyrics “crystal sea of light” to “Christmas in her eyes”, which I always thought it was, rhymes and it a beautiful line as well. Love it
I just got seats last night for his show in Lowell, MA on June 30, 2018! Can't believe Georgia never charted... It was my favorite song off this album.
Saw him first at Hollywood Bowl (1977?) during what he called later his 'Hollywood Years'. Seen him many times since...last time 201/Napa. Still sounds fabulous. Sexy as hell.
Saw him years ago. Waited for him to do this one, which is my favorite of his...and he never did! Even with two encores! When the fans were screaming and whistling for him to come back, this is the song they were waiting for. Don't get it.
STRANGE as it seems to me, I cannot find info listed anywhere which shows that this song ever even entered the singles charts.. at all.. zero.. much less to receive a noted ranking. HUH?? Wait.. didn't I hear this song on radio stations around the western USA numerous times in the mid-late 70's? Yes. I did. I mean, it's why I bought the freakin' album! That just blows my mind. Anyway, I'm just now learning this, and if you'd have asked me yesterday I would have guessed it probably cracked the top 20 at some point during the Silk Degrees frenzy. But nope. Nada. Zip. And if someone can prove this to be incorrect... please.. do so. It's the #1 Boz for me and I'd love to learn otherwise. And finally.. thank you for posting this live version. It's so incredibly nice.
Listening to this again 🎧 10/22...my goodness, thinking I love it more now than back in the day ! Perfection...sitting here rockin' & singing out loud ! Classic tune by The Boz ! 💙

The sinister humor in these lyrics is genius.
This man could recite the alphabet and make it into a soulful experience.

Boz - A fellow "Buckeye turned Texan" of mine.
A baritone/tenor range. Outstanding singer/songwriter. He's also a great blues man!
