- Seven segment mechanical 12-hour clock, 3D printed. This clock is a single printed body with three sections representing minutes (ones & tens digit) and hours. Powered by a 9VDC source.
Upon power on, the clock will auto-set each digit accordingly based on the RTC's current time. The hour display section uses a new design that consists of a 10-position, 12-state mechanism. The mechanism is reset by reversing the stepper motor partially.
This clock's digits are based on my seven segment mechanical display seen here: • 7 Segment Display, 3D ...
Components seen in this video:
- Arduino Uno
- (3) 28BYJ-48 stepper motors & drivers
- DS3231 RTC - Věda a technologie
I’m impressed by the cam design for 10, 11, and 12 o’clock. After 12 it jumps to 13 and the pin downs, before the motor winding back to 1
Thank you. The slip cam design was the simplest of a few ideas I had. It seems to work very well; no complaints at this time.
That means you can do a 24 hour version easily! Also, I would make mine GPS controlled!
Hehehe hey
Thats good too. İ love ur projects
Wow! This is a very clever design! 🧠 Amazing work! I read someone in the comments also pointed out the rubberband, using those may not be the best thing. When I was working on a similar project I switched to those rubber bands that you can put in your hair, they are more durable and don't dry out.
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with this design so far. Interesting tip about the rubber bands for hair. I'll give those a shot and see how they work.
Maybe it's me, stupid, but is there a way to make it happen or is it just a video to see how it works and see a product I can buy?
I really like the elegance and relative simplicity of the mechanism. Though if I had one criticism, it would be the use of the rubber band. I would look for some other synthetic elastic band of some sort to do the job if possible. Most rubber bands are made of natural latex rubber and they degrade much faster than you might expect.
Hey thank you. I love keeping things simple. About the rubber bands, I would agree. They should be the next improvement. I have a couple of 3D printed spring ideas but I've found many of them suffer under long term use. I'll make a point to search for a synthetic band in the meantime.
Hey! Do you have any plans on publishing Stl or CAD files for this project?
Second that👍
Hey. I definitely get asked this from time to time. What's your go-to STL site? I always think of Thingiverse but I really don't download too many STLs.
@@Flower-3D Thingiverse is fine. Your Mechanical 7-Segment Clock is the most beautiful design I've ever seen. Have you published the STL files yet? I want to try and build this.
@@Flower-3DI really would like to print the 12 hour clock for my living room. Could you please upload the stl files on Printables or thingiverse? I think there would be many downloads as this design is by far the best out there 😀 great work!!
Making a video is a nice thing, and we all appreciate it, but without sharing anything and just advertising
Iìm subscribe your channel. Very beautifull project. About this project it is possible receive stl and source code for arduino ? i have buy all required and after i look that you not have post nothing. it is possible receive it ? no stl, not connection, not istruction ? only demotration ? because ?
it would be awesome if used coil spring for timing instead of servo motors completely mechical with key winding
Such a great point. I'm not currently working on anything related but I do have preliminary plans to incorporate this digital mechanical display into a K'Nex-built clock movement similar to what is seen in my 2015 & 2016 K'Nex clock videos.
Здраствуйте, агде можно взять прошивку и stl файлы.
Я думаю, что это просто реклама, которую можно использовать на какой-то торговой платформе за несколько евро.
I have look this video 10 next time. Is very beautifull. Please help me to create ! Please. without stl, source or instructions it remains just a completely useless video for us
