  • In this video, I want to discuss my thoughts on the OnePlus 5T after owning the phone for nearly four years. Truth be told, it has been an amazing phone. Although it is time for an upgrade simply based on the age of the phone, the OnePlus 5T held up extremely well and leaves me scrambling to justify an upgrade. Whether you pick one up used and squeeze an extra year or two out of it, or are just wondering how a OnePlus purchase has worked out in the long-run for a previous customer, you can find your answer here.

    got mine in October, 2017 and I'm still using here in July of 2022, and still runs pretty much the same exact way when I first got it

    Was thinking about getting a OnePlus 7 pro, but still love my 5T. It's fast and no image burn.

    well, mine still works like a charm. Looks pretty much brand new. It's held up pretty well but then again I just take good care of it and make sure it's always clean and cased.

    Still got mine 8/128 version. Was thinking about getting something new but ohnestly I cant find a reason to upgrade. Device is still snappy, I haven't seen any android app that can pose a challenge to the hardware. I dont care about photo quality, 120hz screens are a gimmick to me, same with 5g cell networks. Kept the phone in spigen armor, replaced battery a year ago, replaced usb port recently and the phone is like new. Will probably last another 2 years or so.

      @@andTutin battery is easy to replace, I did it myself with a basic ifixit kit. They should help you with screen raplacement at one of those phone fix services shops. You can still get the parts for 5t.

    Bought OnePlus 5t Star Wars with iPhone 8 as my second. Hands down the best phone I’ve ever had. Charging and UX being fastest on the market but screen and camera were never it’s selling points.
    Switched to Samsung S9+ about half a year later. Typing was hell, however, screen and camera were phenomenal but that’s about it.
    Currently using iPhone 13, but I dusted my 1P off and been using it at home. Still a solid phone.

    Awesome video to see as I'm in a very similar situation with this phone. The S22 lineup has just come out but they seem kind of disappointing chipset and battery wise (especially in Europe with the Exynos 2200), so probably just gonna end up waiting another half a year and go for the best iPhone 14. Been playing with my moms old iPhone XR and lots of things have been added to iOS which made switching not that bad anymore, that combined with their huge chipset and battery advantage on the newer models makes it too hard to stick with android for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    I bought this is in December 2017, and I'm so sad that I dropped it in water a few months ago. :( I'd still be using it if it wasn't for that reason.

    I've been looking to see if there's any phones in the sales to upgrade to from One+5T... pretty sure I found a comparison of specs similar to a recent Google Pixel - I only looked at the one comparison site briefly, but if it's correct- just goes to show how decently spec'd this one was!
    Finding it difficult to choose an upgrade too! Generally always been happy with Android, and like models with minimal bloatwear or at least let you remove pre-installed stuff! So if Apple now allows you to do this, yea - tempting. Although I am not intending to spend such £££.... considering a Pixel 5 or 6 though

    • @syntaxbyte
      @syntaxbyte  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a tough one to replace for sure! I think the call screening features on the Pixel would be super cool, and the cost was not ideal on the iPhone but the fact that Apple has 0% financing over 24 months where I'm at now helped me make the decision. Like I said in the video, for me it just was easier to jump on the bandwagon than keep asking people to contact me with Google Duo and dealing with the drawbacks of texting. But if you aren't in a situation where most of the people you contact have an iPhone, an Android device can be a lot more attractive.

      @@syntaxbyte I can appreciate what you're saying about friends on the iPhone 'network', it is really super easy and fun to share the Apple Comms (my work phone is Apple...so I've been able to try both worlds... generally, I prefer Android interfaces and fortunately not had too many issues with Apple:Android comms 🙂
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts btw - i appreciated your insights, you hit alot of corners for concern as I!

    YOO! I still have this phone haha bought it in 2017 as well. It still holds up amazing. The battery still lasts me a full day of casual use, I don't play any games on there.
    P.S. 12:44 is the upgraded phone.
